  • Dang, Katherine Cronin is HOT

  • My thoughts on death: The fun is over.

The chimps' thoughts: HOLY SHIT?!?!?! THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!?!?!

  • I hate chimps they are so violent

  • @limjil It's somehow familiar...

  • @rachelcapt225 Kill yourself you are not worthy of life

  • Poor chimps

  • There's a video here on YouTube of a psychologist who closely researched an Ape, and the Ape knew almost perfect sign language. It had a friend kitten who he liked to play with, but who got run over by a car. The psychologist lady explained to the chimp by sign language that the cat was dead, and the ape goes into mourning and then starts crying.

  • @GnosticHumanist link it or it never existed

  • @orialchon

If you think I'm going tom waste 20 minutes looking for a video just to appease you, you're greatly mistaken.

  • @GnosticHumanist so next time shut up and dont waste youtube space with your bullshit

  • @orialchon

    I'll bite your face cunt.

  • @GnosticHumanist you wont find a cunt neither in a porn video

  • @orialchon

I'm in the right mind to pull your pants down and.....

I doesn't have to be like this.

  • @GnosticHumanist lol i'm not one of the your chimp bitches.

  • I'm too surprised that the chimps are moaning. Elephants, dogs, and other animals do it, why chimps?

  • i had a dream i was here.. there were chimps, there was a path just like that and fence. i actually played pass with a nerf football with one of the chimps. there was a lake there in the chimp enclosure and further up the path is the entrance and parking lot. is there a lake in the real location?? please answer.

  • i had a dream i was here.. there were chimps, there was a path just like that and fence. i actually played pass with a nerf football with one of the chimps. there was a lake there in the chimp enclosure and further up the path is the entrance and parking lot. is there a lake in the real location?? please answer.

  • planet of the apes is real!

  • The only people who think animals dont have human like feeling such as gelousy, fear, excitement happyness sorrow anger confusion repentence do not have any pets, i have had many dogs and my most recent has a full on sensitive personality and is sad if you dont say hi andc ignore him if you come home from work. Same as my cats ones reserved and quiet and the other is loud and boustroiuse. Even rabbits have personalitys. Get a pet and you will see most animals are not much diffrent to us.

  • ofcourse chimps have feelings you fucking dumbasses.. they feel pain and joy happiness and sadness...

the same as every sentient animal on this planet YES including cows and pigs they fooking animals YOU EAT

  • There all waiting for the Corner! lol thumps up :)

  • who can tell me what's the words that appeared at about 0:57, This community has 43 chimpanzees and nearly 200 ...(ager?) to ...(rom?)...what's the meaning of ...? Thank you a lot!

  • @zhanyilan An "acre" is a unit of measure, 1 acre = roughly 4 m2, "Roam" - To move about without purpose or plan.

  • @OppengruppenSS Thank you so much!

  • @zhanyilan 不用谢.

  • okay, go to 5:09, the smaller chimp takes the hand of the dead chimp. whether its curious and smelling it, or expecting a reaction, or concerned i don't know but it looks like there's something going on what with the male becoming enraged.

  • It's not emotion, it's primates being puzzled when confronted with death, a concept they seem to not fully grasp.

  • Andreazor

I think death is a concept humans seem not to fully grasp, not the other way around

  • this is amazing

  • Why are people surprised that animals love, are emotional, and have meaningful attachments to others? What in the hell is the matter with people? That's what should be studied.

  • @1221solstice2012 Well, for one, most of them don't have as highly-developed a brain as we do. Second, we don't know which aspects of our species are a result of our evolution or simply an inheritance from our evolutionary ancestors. Besides that, we often associate certain actions or images with those that seem familiar to us, which is why I think the scientists are so skeptical that this actually is an act of mourning.

  • @BBPatterson12 Please don't bother me with this repulsive humanist BS. Any human with a "highly developed brain" has a generous amount of empathy and zero baseless arrogance...appreciates others for themselves rather than comparing them to "us." If I did that I would hate chimps because they're so human-like in certain ways...no, I only hate people...lol.

  • This prove that animal do mourn.

  • Beautiful documentation of emotion!

  • Of Course They Mourn. They're Not Void Of Emotions.

  • 'humen' hehe

  • oh great, probably in afew million years and these animal become as smart as humen, which would probably evolve too, theres just gonna be more racism...

  • what does mourn mean? :S

  • fuck death

  • @JMort95 FUCK YOU!!!

  • @Frankwolf100 no u

  • @Frankwolf100 LOL, that's awsome you responded to that I was just joking around

  • So lame that every single aspect of nature has to be defined in comparison to the human experience...which is incredibly limited.

  • I believe it is a rational expectation to assume other mammals aside from humans will have many similar emotional responses to many different life events. Our pets do have opinions that likely are based on their inner experience or "emotions" only animals are better able to correspond or "talk" to others of the same species. It is likely they have language aswell that would be learned in their early life in a similar way to humans learning the language they are exposed to through parents.

  • The chimps are just curious of why the dead chimp is not responding or moving.

  • ANIMALS IN GENERAL "IRRATIONAL" LUTO DEMONSTRATE A LOT MORE THAN WE! "REASON" TO KILL FOR DELIGHT MERO! YES THEY CRY DO NOT KNOW WHY THE SURPRISE! SPOKE UP AS A FRIEND, HOPE not be so surprised! ANIMALS AND CRY FOR THOSE WHO LOVE TOO! BUT ARE STILL CONSIDERED THE IRRATIONAL !!!

    HUGS,

    ROSANGELA D'ORO

  • this was a really cool video, seeing how they were acting, now do they do anything with their dead? or do they just let the bodies rot? that's what i was wondering while watching this

  • thank you

  • My dog has mourned the loss of some of our pets, and certainly the loss of my son. Two years after the fact, when I spread Aaron's duffel bag out on the floor, his dog laid on it and sniffed and sniffed, finally he slept until I removed him two hours later. When Aaron was first KIA, he could smell Aaron's scent within the box the Marines brought to us. He pawed at Aaron's bedroom door and cried.

  • @0331goldstar Even though this was only a comment, it made me cry. I'm really sorry for your loss

  • @0331goldstar I'm so sorry to here the lost of your son. He has done many things for our country that many of us would other wise wouldn't.

  • evolution just walk up a step... soon they'll be txt'n

  • (Pat 2) One of the younger ones was even rubbing his eyes, and the group fiercely defended the corpse against a wild dog trying to get at it.

  • When I was in Bombay, I witnessed a similar event on Elephanta Island which didn't even involve primates. The mother of a dead monkey baby hysterically ran around with the corpse, but every now and then she laid it out like at a wake, and the other monkeys gathered around it.

  • why are religious trolls here

  • @ballin7077

They are everywhere buddy. You will find bibel thumbers all places they can sneak in,and believe someone will listen to their bs.The funny thing is,many times they talk and act like people that is not religious at all (swearing, calling people strange names etc etc). All in the name of god.

  • @ballin7077 Great question, they do not belong here

  • birds, cats, dogs alike do mourn their pairs.

My cat was standing next to her 12 years old friend and was obviously affected by it's death.

My uncle's cat who passed away felt it too.

I hope none of you are surprised of this.

  • Are aint plants living beings you epistomological pricks!

  • Maybe they were thinking, "Can we eat it?"

  • SE DAN CUENTA DE LA IDA DE UN COMPAÑERO QUERIDO Y YA COMIENZAN A DARLE SIGNIFICADO A LA MUERTE COMO UN FENÓMENO COMÚN PERO QUE AFECTA A TODOS.

  • I thought it had been common knowledge for tens of years that basically every social animal mourns the loss of a member of their society :| What bullshit news and bullshit "expert" opinions. Why do I even subscribe to this channel??

  • @labrat882 I think that it's felt that some people need reminding how similar in some ways that we are.

  • I usually don't take much interests in chimps or primates in general, but this really fascinated me that the chimps would act a certain way towards a dead body. I would really like the know what the chimps were thinking when they were "inspecting" the dead body- psychology is very interesting.

  • yooouuuuttttuuuubbbbbeeee fffffiiiigggghhhhttttt LOL hahaha LOL

  • The worst part is that they wont let animals be free they always caged up even if its 200 acres animals should be free

  • I once heard a chimpanzee cry before.... I will never forget that sound.

  • The guy standing on the right at some moments, has a "kelly family" shirt. That's odd

  • @ShookOnesTO I was wonderin what it was Thanks for the clarification lol !

  • The lady talking kind of sounds like Steve Irwin's wife.

  • That male chimp looked pretty upset to me, I think it's safe to assume they ARE mourning. They are just as capable of feeling grief, what about Flint at Gombe in the 70s when Flo died??

  • They were probably checking it to see if the meat was still edible

  • @ebusive your ignorant are you vegetarian

  • Okay guys. I'm getting too many of you vegans/vegetarians bombarding me with comments and I can't keep up with them all. Many of you are completely missing the point of my posts. You want to eat what you want? Good for you. I'll eat what I want. You have no right to tell others how to live their life. End of discussion.

  • @mrdeathly By your logic, then, if one wants to eat a human, and kills them to do so, then I have no right to criticize you for your behavior, as we each have "no right to tell others how to live their life". It is you who have missed the point.

  • @SecondWalkProduction You're just going to keep going and going and going. Le sigh. Cannibalism actually was the norm in our early history and in a few cultures, still exist today. Frankly, I don't care about their customs. I care about MY customs. Deal with it.

  • @mrdeathly But I care about the safety of animals, and it really pains me to see so many of them suffer for no other reason than frivolous pleasure, which is the result of your and many people's custom. I'm not stopping you from living your life the way you want, I'm just trying to argue for my point of view, and if my arguments upset you then either argue against them in a logical manner or just remain staying upset. Instead, you ignore my arguments and stuck to your unjustified assertions.

  • @SecondWalkProduction Well here's the thing. You should read up on the things I said earlier so I don't have to keep repeating myself. Your argument implies that meat eaters are bad people for eating meat. I disagree. We have a natural inclination toward it and I find nothing wrong with that. I already laid out some of my arguments earlier so I suggest you read those and if you feel you want to keep arguing, email me. This is getting ridiculously redundant now.

  • @mrdeathly That's not my argument at all. I have no problem with a man in an african village killing an animal because he HAS to feed his family. My point is that eating meat when other alternatives are easily available is wrong, because then the only point is pleasure and pleasure is frivolous compared to the life and safety of another animal. We also have tones of other natural inclinations which we resist, like violence towards others, because we are beings capable of reason.

  • @mrdeathly Its a really simple argument, and the fact that you misinterpreted it so easily shows that you really didn't take any time to think about it and consider its validity before instantly going on the attack.

  • @mrdeathly "I'm getting too many of you vegans/vegetarians bombarding me with comments and I can't keep up with them all."

Interesting. I thought you said humans were omnivores and thus would never consider moving to a more vegetarian diet. And yet, in this thread, which is about animal behavior, and not about vegetarianism, you say that you've been overwhelmed by posts from folks who disagree with your views. Interesting.

  • @sbergman27 Really? That's your argument? The vast majority of the planet's population are omnivorous. I don't see how a group of vegans on an internet channel bombarding me with comments even remotely negates that argument. You done yet?

  • @mrdeathly My argument? No. Just an observation.

You claim that your only point is that people should be able to eat what they want. Fine. No problem there. But, in fact, you take it further and get upset when people point out problems with your choices, and then get upset when folks respond. Nobody is forcing you to participate in this thread. I took a rather kid-glove approach to you. And still, you have become hostile to me, even though I am so moderate that my diet still includes meat.

  • @flinglish Whoops! I meant meters. Had a derp moment.

  • Human thinks he is almighty... we re only talking in a language not understanded by animals and viceversa.

  • Forms of life were domesticated and cultivated by us, rejecting one is idiocratic. Veganism is for gullible pseudo-rational people. Also if your blood type is 0(I) dont be a vegan thats the worst thing you can do to your body. Type 0(I) blood is the oldest type, the type of our hunter gatherer ancestors(hunter gatherers didnt eat anything pre-agrarian revolution, in fact avoid milk and wheat), the other blood types appeared when our diet changed when we domesticated and cultivated life forms.

  • @FreeeeS Why is veganism for psuedo-rational people? Just because, in the past, cultivating animals was beneficial to our growth as a species doesn't mean that we have to keep doing it now, especially when we have more efficient sources of food which both don't involve the suffering of another living thing, and which are more beneficial to the planet overall (read up on the effects of "factory farming" on global warming).

  • @FreeeeS While I am not a complete vegetarian myself, it is certainly interesting to observe the lengths to which folks like you will go to rationalize your meat-inclusive diet. You act as though you feel threatened in some way. Do you have some evidence to back up your claims about vegetarianism and blood type, etc? No? I'm not surprised.

  • @sbergman27 This is the kind of attitude that causes disgust. You want to know why the backlash against veganism? It's that mightier than thou attitude. Chances are, no one gives a fuck what you eat. They give a fuck what you try to tell them to eat. Same reasons many atheists are backlashing against fundamental Christians. You're telling people how to live. It's not that hard to figure out.

  • @mrdeathly What I see in this thread is people presenting valid reasons that a meat-inclusive diet for humans around the world is problematic... and you freaking out over that. You act as though you feel very much threatened. I'm not even completely vegetarian, and even my noting that that vegetarians have a moral point causes you to freak. Please calm down.

  • @sbergman27 This is another classic internet argument. Implying that the opposing opinionated person is "irate" or "freaking out". I don't know how many times I have said what my reason was for responding to the original post. You can go ahead and stop flattering yourself into assuming I'm threatened by your lifestyle. There are no problems with a meat inclusive diet. That is merely a delusion. I would say that a hunter gatherer lifestyle is more efficient but not giving up meat all together.

  • @mrdeathly Again. Please calm down. 500 char YT posts are far too short to allow for meaningful "arguments". It's barely enough to probe for areas of agreement. What we are discussing is not my lifestyle. We are discussing what makes sense as a goal. Your statement that a hunter-gatherer way of life is efficient... is astonishing. And suggests you haven't spent much time seriously considering the issue. Consider how that way of life would scale to 7 billion humans today, and far more, tomorrow.

  • @sbergman27 Stop. If you're going to resort to ad hominem attacks by implying I'm freaking out, then I can't take you seriously. You want to continue this where there is more than a 500 character limit, email me so we can stop polluting this great video with this bullshit.

  • @mrdeathly No ad hominem. Simply observation based upon the tone perceived. Honestly I think that you are more reasonable than you sound, but that you feel a bit backed into the corner. Hey, I've been there.

Let me take a guess and say that we might agree that many vegetarians' personal ethics may be spot-on, while their political strategy is sub-optimal. I'm trying to work with you, here. Use that as a starting point. And try to consider your correspondents as being individuals, and not "them".

  • @sbergman27 The tone is annoyance that the discussion has become redundant.

  • @mrdeathly Your tone is annoyance at the fact that your bull-headed Archie Bunker style has not garnered any followers to help you to deal with the reasonable people participating in the thread. And I don't think I care to waste any more time on you. I certainly did my part to facilitate constructive conversation. It didn't work. I'm all out of white flags and olive branches. Enjoy your life.

  • @sbergman27 You haven't read anything I wrote earlier. You'll find I did have plenty of supporters. Nonetheless, how is that even relevant? You seem to be concerned with making yourself look good at the apparent expense of someone else rather than actually having a discussion. I gave you the opportunity to email me so we can keep the comments on this video relevant because this has spiraled out of control. You make assumptions out of nothing. Good for you.

  • @mrdeathly I would not want to judge you unfairly. I believe I have read all your posts. Please give me the UTC time and date of your initial post so that I can verify. But I can't help but wonder... if you had all these supporters... where are they now? Perhaps they, too, agreed with certain of your views, but disagree with the ones you have chosen to push here.

  • @sbergman27 Me thinks they left because they got tired of this bullshit before I did. I can only assume you started arguing with me from seeing one of the comments as being a top liked on this video for a short time. But again. I am tired of this discussion as you have probably noticed. No one is offering new information and is only resorting to making endless presumptions about the other person's character. Again, if you want to continue, email me and I'll look for the first comments.

  • @mrdeathly If you wish to discuss the matter, please discuss it here. Nobody is complaining about the subject matter of the comments except for you. The format may be constrictive. But it is public. I've no particular interest in having a private conversation with Archie Bunker. It's far better to keep Bunker and his views in the public view. So that people who share your flawed, though understandable, thinking can be exposed to reasonable counter-arguments.

  • @sbergman27 You have got to be trolling. First, you say I'm raging. Then you claim I'm "bull-headed" for standing by my convictions. You continue by implying I'm dim for holding the views that I do. All this and you have yet to really say anything new or convincing. You are misdirecting the conversation by simply attacking my character and forming a false representation of me. How lovely.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrdeathly "You have got to be trolling."

No, indeed. Why waste the time? It makes no sense. You are, indeed, raging. And you are acting bull-headed. I don't recall implying that you are dim. You might have interpreted things that I have said in that way. But that would be an internal conversation for you, and not something that I have explicitly expressed.

It would be very reasonable to start moving toward more resource-efficient methods of feeding people. You very irrationally disagree.

  • @sbergman27 Lol. This fuckin' guy. He thinks he knows my thoughts and emotions better than I do. You're laughable.

  • @sbergman27 I'll be the first to say I'm certainly not impressed. You can go ahead and continue with your delusions of me "raging" for lack of an argument when in reality, I'm reluctant to say the same thing over and over to coincide with the same, tired arguments you keep spewing. Cheers.

  • @mrdeathly "I'll be the first to say I'm certainly not impressed."

    You'll be the only one.

  • @sbergman27 not impressed if they can tell dead from living, who knows, maybe they can tell one from two

  • @sbergman27 Nutrigenic diet is the real deal the next generation will see that, you can just live your life and die. btw I dont respect you as a person because you are a gullible dumb vegan, have a nice day. further evidence: ppl with blood type 0(I) exhibit strong stomach secretion of hydrochloric acid (any o(I) person can testify for this) and other enzymes for meat digestion are higher than in A or B types and there are tons of support for this, I'm out of characters

  • @sbergman27 I didnt think this up you fuckiing idiot! It was proposed by Peter D'Adamo and his fellow scientists a long time ago sadly it didnt get enough media attention to get into pop-culture and so far all the related or non-related research tells nutrigenics is VALID there are tons of people who have tried the blood type diet. If you know your type search for your diet plus it helps to prevent any health problems the types of blood will.

  • @sbergman27 Veganism was invented by ancient indian gurus bronze age people you know(holy cow!). Would you rather trust ancient "wise men" them or modern research on genetics and biochemistry or a combination of the two.

  • @sbergman27 anyway you are an ignoramus I bet nurtigenomics hasnt intrigued you the slightest!

  • domesticated and cultivated veganism is for gullible pseudo-rational people

  • allways boil your vegies those plants didnt just evolve to be eaten, I mean get real! As it is relatively hard to hunt wild animals you cant eat wild plants. So bovine was domesticated and so were plants of certain families.

  • animals getting smarter ?

  • @Plusimurfriend are you getting dumber?

  • first my heart goes out to the chimps friends and family

    second that chimps mooning me

  • @KAZEEMA91 animals dont have fealings

  • It is interesting that evolution selected for such intense interest and involvement with the dead despite the risk of infection. I wonder what advantage it incurs. My best guess is it is necessary as part of reorganizing concepts of community structure in highly and complexly social animals. The chimps now have to understand the dead chimp is not part of their world and that changes the structure of their whole troop.

  • @michalchik good observance, not like other "experts" here :p

  • there are only "certain types" of humans that think we are the only ones who express emotions... shame on you. I wont call them out, you know who you are.

  • Did the camera person shoot it? (lol.. aw, I made myself sad.)

  • may they rip

  • They obviously feel a loss .. interesting .

  • 1. the animal are accepting the dead bacteria, sorta like a vaccine ! they are doing this through morning / the lack of a proper understanding of death !

  • @ROYALITARIAN The vaccine ideas is interesting and creative but upon reflection I don't buy it. Vaccines are only really good if the virus is in a weakened form to make it less dangerous. If an animal has died of a disease there isa good chance it is carrying a highly virulent and dangerous strain. Avoidance would be a better policy from that standpoint. Please see my earlier post.

  • Evolution before our eyes.

  • @Th2EyA0rEa1MoN2gUs I'm pretty sure this behavior has been around for a very long time. We just know so little about chimpanzee culture and identity that we are now only beginning to uncover some of the aspects of their lives. It's really fascinating.

  • @mrdeathly We are still seeing evolution before our eyes....

  • @Th2EyA0rEa1MoN2gUs I was pointing out that you aren't in a literal sense in this case. You are seeing evidence of evolution, but the actual process takes much longer and through successive generations.

  • @mrdeathly Thank you for your dissertation, but I have studied Biology in College. I understand how long the process takes.

  • The dead chimp raped her, and now she unleashed some fury, quite simple if you think about it,

  • what i think is that humanity has still a lot to learn

  • This doesn't show any mourning. What would be interesting is to see how they behave days and weeks later - especially the male who was close to the deceased. If he acts differently (like he's sad) then you can suppose he's mourning.

  • @Coyotefreak667 Thanks for the info; I wish I have the resources abd the time to look it up.

  • Yea I failed at the name

  • Ramizeir is just an ass hole don't lisen to dat bich :P

  • I think they're learning what death is

  • We have been underestimating animals for far too long

  • @jungenbum We've been overestimating homo sapiens for far too long.

  • @jungenbum

i think it is sad that animals are caged, and observed this way.......i think they are sad, i think humans make them sad, and i understand now why they can act so violently.....sad.

  • @sharej69 Did you not watch the video? They have 200 acres of enclosed space. That's like 800 thousand square miles. Its not a cage.

  • @Koodoze It's pretty easy to learn, it's like knowing different species of bugs.

  • 137. LOL Does That chimp have an IPhone!

  • Ofcourse their mourning! That's a funeral you're watching people!

  • @airwriq no its not....they are basically confused why the baby isnot moving or making noise....dont forget that chimps attack one another and they also eat one another...

  • @afaf233 So do humans. Just sayin'.

  • @mrdeathly we people are also animals and part of the food chain...we eat meat fish and veggies and also we eat one another

  • @afaf233 That is absolutely true.

  • @mrdeathly those japs koreans and chinese folks they eat everything that moves,,,to them chinks everything is a delicacy....thats why we have moratoriums on fishing...whale killing....and all sorts of animals that are exotic and face extinction...if we let them slant eyed dudes have thier way there would be no more fish in the ocean and no cats or dogs....actually i would not mind tasteting human meat to see what it tastes like.

  • @afaf233 So do ppl

  • Chimps, gorillas, and Great Apes (humans especially) mourn their dead, as do elephants. What's wrong with that? We apes love our fellow apes, (and pachyderms love their fellow pachyderms) and we are sad to see them go away forever.

  • Comment removed

  • @chaosopher23 Chimps, Gorillas and Apes are classified as "PRIMATES" while humans are completely separate specie called " HOMO SAPIENS"; as to why PRIMATES AND PACHDERMS feel sadness and behave as if they express higher level or plan of feelings, I am not fully aware of these studies; however, on the clip at 4:30,they decline to use the word "mourning"; humans feel grief due to the closeness and codependence they had with the departed person and the void he/she left in their lives.

  • 3:30 she might be like "I HATED YOU!!! GOOD THING YOU'RE DEAD!!!"

maybe some sort of hate like that (No joke intended)

  • @Tazy50 Obviously she was doing some sort of CPR on him and others looked closely to see if it worked.

  • @funglip it could have been a test to see if he reacted to her hit, that's probably why she ran away so quick after hitting him

  • Yep... we're reluctant to attribute human behavior to non-human animals... why? Because we HAVE to assume that humans are special... idiots...

  • of course theyll mourn

  • I wouldn't rule the possibility out completely, but maybe it has nothing to do with mourning, they could just be curious and just beginning to understand what this means. Another thing that was really interesting was how the mother of the dead little female chimp was still carying her around.

  • Hope that chimp said it's prayurs to Lord Jesus or else its gonna BURN IN HELL !!

    evil monkey

  • Viva La Evolucion! xD

  • evoloution :O

  • I'm tired of you bullshitters hating religious people just because they speak their mind... I understand if they are arrogant but this?

    fuck off...
