I'm pretty sure John wrote most of the songs on this album. Just goes to show how important he was to their sound. I don't get why he would leave them yet again. My guess is he was tired of being uber famous again, so he just wanted to go off and do his own thing. But I'm cool with just listening to his solo stuff, the empyrean was a sick album
