Japan has the best parks EVER!!! Our teacher showed us this video about Japan, and a park that these two kids went to was awesome! This park in this video is about 100x better than any park I've seen here in the US. Lol my friend and I promised that, no matter how old we are, one day we will go to Japan and go to an awesome park.
i think it is amazing how nina speaks japanese and english so well...i know it's possible because i speak hebrew and english fluently (and i'm 13) but it still blows me away how one so young can speak both languages so well!!!! XD
@TheMangachick1 Yeah, I envy you (and Nina) being able to learn two languages from a young age. For me, trying to start learning Japanese at from age 32, it has been very difficult! Be sure to keep up both your English and your Hebrew!
I love those very long slides, they look so fun! they're like mini roller-coasters! And what are those tubes called? extremely cool. You can only see things like that in museums in America. Very impressive.
I am extremely jealous, American parks are usually very boring, with only swings, a slide, and maybe a seesaw. Because of this video, I have added another thing to the list of places I must visit before I'm 21 =D
Oh wow, that park was awesome! Lol, I've never even seen slides like those...but maybe thats because I'm from a small town and only recently moved to the cities...lol but either way...Lol, I wish I was a kid so I could play at a park like that... :) Hey Nina is getting better at singing...that was actually pretty good lol....she's actually singing instead of saying the words in a 'singy' voice....if that makes sense...
@geofg haha wel not like go in but I am really paranoid because the sides are kinda... actually I live in San Francisco so our playgrounds suck. I bet her playground is awesome. Nvm my comment
@geofg HOLY MOLY! I wanna go there. My park that I go only has 6 swings, 2 or 3 climbing things, 2 or 3 slides, a sandbox, and other 4 things I cant remember. *Sigh* I wish I could go there.
@ThatVideoGameGirl123 I'm sure you can find some cool parks like that somewhere in the city where you live, but you might have to get somebody to drive you to it. Our local neighborhood park is not very interesting either. This park is about a 25 minute drive from our house.
Hi geofg, greetings from the Philippines! I have been a Nina fan Just recently when a friend shared her video to me. Since then I have been hooked on watching her videos I even shared it to my friends too. Thank you for sharing Nina to us. She has been our joy after a stressful day at work. God bless you and your family always.
@DarkWingDeDe Yeah, days like this one are so much better than the rainy days where Nina has to stay inside all day. She has an energy quota she has to use everyday and the easiest way to use it be far is letting her run free somewhere.
What a lovely park. Nina is so charming. You and your wife are doing an amazing job with Nina. Very cool. Thanks for taking me along to the park. Arigato!
My daughter is in Osaka as we speak, and she had taken Japanese for 8 years. She hopes to teach English in Japan one day. She is currently studying at Osaka women's University. We are both big fans of little Nina-thanks for sharing her with us!
@grommie959 Thanks for leaving a message! So, your daughter studied Japanese at home first, before going to Osaka? I'm sure she is having a good time. Osaka is a really lively city, with great food and lots of character. Good luck to her!
@geofg Yes-our local highschool offers Japanese as a foriegn language, and she has continued her studies in college. She is attending the University in Osaka through an program with Kent State University. She LOVES Osaka!
beautiful. just beautiful geofg. i wish there are cool playgrounds like these in singapore. we do have playgrounds but this playground looks awesome! gross motor development is also important for a child and nina is really well developed all roundedly it seems! good job there! kudos to you and mama!~
@GAEUL1985 Thanks! At this point, Nina isn't really very "sporty" but she's pretty active, so I think that's enough for now. She likes to dance, so maybe she will want to take dance lessons sometime.
@JulyRuby72 Thanks, and good luck with your studies. I came to Japan at 32 knowing no Japanese at all, so it's not necessarily a prerequisite for working here, but recently with the big influx of foreigners watering down the workforce and the lagging economy, it is getting harder and harder to find decent jobs. Are you thinking of applying to JET?
@osakaben10 ha ha Well, she will certainly be used to being photographed and filmed. She's usually good natured about doing the things I ask her to do, but sometimes she will tell me, "No more pictures, Papa!"
We don't have parks like this in Texas. At least not in Austin. This park looks very fun. I wish the people who construct parks would take a hint from other places. All ours look the same. Slides, swings, and monkey bars. Nothing new.
@CocaineFormula But, in Austin, you have town lake with all the biking/walking paths along it, squirrels and pecan trees, Barton Springs... I love Austin.
I love those roller slides! I remember they had them at a few family fun centers when I was kid, but never any on a playground. What a fun park! I love your daddy and daughter outings, but it's nice to see the whole family together on your daytrips! I hope your family is happy and well ^^
@seiyaodango We have a lot of outings as a family, but my wife just tends to be shy about being filmed, so I often don't take the camera along unless it's just Nina and I.
we have parks like this in Germany, the best thing they made at the parks were the slides, its unfortunate that America doesn't make them this way D:>. my Fav slide in Germany was the huuuuuge monster slide that you had to use a rug to slide down on,it had a lot of bumps too! Recently me and my friends went to a park @ around 10-12pm and played nerf guns like we were 13 again haha!!
@TeshiMeshi : I loved those rolling slides as a kid! The last time I ever saw them was at a local fair held every summer. Yeah, unfortunately America's recently a little too paranoid about the safety of the young generation. Many parks had gotten rid of sandboxes and replaced them with woodchips, and the slides are these boring, easy plastic slides instead of the steep and metal ones.
I just broke up with my girlfriend today but you always know how to cheer me up Nina, thanks for the video and dont forget to tell your great parents what I said aswell! =]
What kid has not seen those cool rollers at the airport and not wished they could ride on them? What an outstanding place for a child to play. Great video.
@usaverageguy Yes, you're right, my wife taught us the bean pod whistle trick. Since becoming a mother, she has remembered many things like this from her childhood.
@nenooye That's sad. Yes, Nina is lucky to have parents who spend so much time with her, and we are lucky to get to spend so much time with her, too. I'm happy you had nice childhood memories anyway.
@languageandhumor I think it's called "Coolvetica" or something like that. It comes with the latest iMovie. The outward curling descender was irrisistible.
What a great park. And you netted yourself a Nina! Good thing she's not so small you'd have to throw her back. I like Nina's Peko-chan face in the net at 1:00, and her sad face at 1:07 is priceless. I also like that she had fun not only with the fancy engineered metal structures but also with blowing through a bit of plant and just running around.
@languageandhumor It is a very clever design, the way they use the roller slide to lure kids onto the jungle gym in the first place, and then entice them into the tunnels that lead to the nets. They don't even need to put food in the nets. The kids climb into them willingly.
OH, i was forgetting! you know what mister geofg? im writing my thesis upon the TPS (toyota production system) and everytime i have to write some japanese word (like, pokayoke, tsukurikomi or kanban) i always think of nina..
don't know why but that's pretty nice by me :D i love nina, and she is the "little japan" in my life.. a big kiss! ciao!!
Wow, you have way cooler stuff there than here in the USA. I never saw the horn things in the USA, and I never saw a slide here with rollers. It is really COOL there! :D
My daughter says Nina sounds like "Mort" (from Madagascar) when she talks on that yellow speaker thingy! It's so cute. You guys gotta come to Kamakura some time! bye-bye! Hana & Papa
@geofg Hana likes singing "We like to move it move it" -- I think Nina sang this song too on one of your videos a while back. Hana is 4 and half. Hana loves watching Nina at night before we go to bed. Thanks!
Lovely! The perfect vid to show a beautiful childhood! (Sorry, I have no idea how to say something like this in English) And I just noticed how tall she actually got! Just lovely~ *is going to watch it again* =3
LOL Geof i liked the part when Nina was in the rope cage and you said you'll pick her up tom and leave banana and a glass of water..reminds me of Nina Loves Banana video..apparently she really likes Banana huh?LOL Love this video soo much..another fave video from Nina, Mama and Papa :) i love this park..i wish i was in japan and 5 years old :o)
@MADQueen89 I always think the same thing when I go to these Japanese parks. There are so many cool things to climb around on. It must be really fun to climb around on. I still try to climb on some of the things, but I get funny looks from the other kids.
@DayniKo Thanks! Do you still have a good relationship with your dad? I worry about when Nina gets older and her friends become the most important thing in her life. I hope she'll still think about ole dad now and then.
@geofg My dad and I still have a wonderful relationship even though I'm in college and busy with other things. Every so often we go on little adventures to the beach or go for bike rides. Daughters will always love spending time with their dads, especially after having so many great memories from childhood. You don't have anything to worry about :)
@JunTakashi00 She plays with other kids every day at daycare. Sometimes we go to the park with one of her friends, but on this day it was just our family.
lol. The face she makes as she shakes her head 'no' after you suggest she stay in the net overnight is just precious. I seriously admire your family. I'm too busy trying to get my life in order for me to even think about having a fam, but once I do, I hope I'm as close to my daughter / son as you seem to be with yours.
@theTR4MP Getting your life in order before focusing on making a family is a good idea. I didn't marry until I was 36, and I was 39 when Nina was born. At this age, I'm pretty settled with my life and who I want to be etc, so am able to focus on spending time with my family, which is nice.
No kidding, cool park! ;D Are there many parks in Japan like this? Did you have to go out of your way to go to it or are there a lot of parks like this, do you know? Fun :) Not so crowded either it seemed :D Thanks as always for sharing Nina with us :D, makes the day better.
@joshuarawr Yeah, there are quite a few parks around with stuff like this one has. This one was maybe a 20 minute drive from our house. They can get pretty crowded, but we usually try to get to them early and then leave before too many people come.
That park...wow this just about confirms my idea that everything in japan is wickedly awesome! And of course geof and the family are apart of why it's so cool ;)
@mohjoh1947 Did you take any kind of movies of Kathleen then? My mother has a few Super 8 movies of our family, but you have to have a projector to watch them, so we never see them.
@geofg We have "loads" of photos of Kath and her older brother, Sean. WE did not take video though others did, so there may be some video of her out there. I think it's the shape of her face, the healthy rosey cheeks, the happy smile and a general happiness and enjoyment of life with a mom and dad that she knows truly and unconditionally love her. That's the similarity I see and like so much!
WOW what I would not give to go to that park! Those roller slides look so fun I would ride on them all day long. When you guys were blowing into those bean things you sounded like guinea pigs. hahah
fat cheeks <3 soo cute!

Lovely! The perfect vid to show a beautiful childhood! (Sorry, I have no idea how to say something like this in English) And I just noticed how tall she actually got! Just lovely~ *is going to watch it again* =3

MADQueen89 1 year ago
@MADQueen89 I always think the same thing when I go to these Japanese parks. There are so many cool things to climb around on. It must be really fun to climb around on. I still try to climb on some of the things, but I get funny looks from the other kids.

I wish I had cool parks like that when I was a kid!
Nina is adorable, and so smart. Yours and Nina's relationship reminds me of my dad and I - your videos always put a smile on my face. Thank you :D
DayniKo 1 year ago 2
@DayniKo Thanks! Do you still have a good relationship with your dad? I worry about when Nina gets older and her friends become the most important thing in her life. I hope she'll still think about ole dad now and then.
geofg 1 year ago
@geofg My dad and I still have a wonderful relationship even though I'm in college and busy with other things. Every so often we go on little adventures to the beach or go for bike rides. Daughters will always love spending time with their dads, especially after having so many great memories from childhood. You don't have anything to worry about :)

@DayniKo That's nice to hear.

I can imagine the top ninja warrior's contestants training here when they were kids. SUCH AN AWESOME PARK XD

@Mugensenpai Yeah, it definitely seems like good training for something.

how does she interact with other kids?
JunTakashi00 1 year ago
@JunTakashi00 She plays with other kids every day at daycare. Sometimes we go to the park with one of her friends, but on this day it was just our family.

that park looks so cool!!

Why is it MAY 2009? It was filmed last year was it?
farahabdullah 1 year ago
@farahabdullah No, when I was editing this, my fingers decided to ignore my brain and type the wrong year.
geofg 1 year ago
That IS a cool park.
Those conveyor belt things remind me of what the local grocery store used to look like when I was a kid.
I've never heard '3 little pigs' in Japanese. That is also cool :P
6663000 1 year ago
@6663000 Yeah, I think those slides would work well for moving boxes of produce, too. ha ha

I am thinking maybe he just got the date wrong, since it does say 'May' ..... could be wrong though. haha
6663000 1 year ago
lol. The face she makes as she shakes her head 'no' after you suggest she stay in the net overnight is just precious. I seriously admire your family. I'm too busy trying to get my life in order for me to even think about having a fam, but once I do, I hope I'm as close to my daughter / son as you seem to be with yours.
theTR4MP 1 year ago
@theTR4MP Getting your life in order before focusing on making a family is a good idea. I didn't marry until I was 36, and I was 39 when Nina was born. At this age, I'm pretty settled with my life and who I want to be etc, so am able to focus on spending time with my family, which is nice.

i need to find that park!
platonicmojo 1 year ago
@platonicmojo You must have some with similar stuff in your neighborhood. Seems like most of the big parks in Japan are pretty well equipped.
geofg 1 year ago
No kidding, cool park! ;D Are there many parks in Japan like this? Did you have to go out of your way to go to it or are there a lot of parks like this, do you know? Fun :) Not so crowded either it seemed :D Thanks as always for sharing Nina with us :D, makes the day better.
joshuarawr 1 year ago
@joshuarawr Yeah, there are quite a few parks around with stuff like this one has. This one was maybe a 20 minute drive from our house. They can get pretty crowded, but we usually try to get to them early and then leave before too many people come.
geofg 1 year ago
dang i wish i had that when i was young
LolRoflLmaoWtfOmgFtw 1 year ago
That park...wow this just about confirms my idea that everything in japan is wickedly awesome! And of course geof and the family are apart of why it's so cool ;)

Nina seems to get prettier each time I see her; she truly is a little sweetie ( something about her reminds me of Kathleen when she was that age).
mohjoh1947 1 year ago
@mohjoh1947 Did you take any kind of movies of Kathleen then? My mother has a few Super 8 movies of our family, but you have to have a projector to watch them, so we never see them.
geofg 1 year ago
@geofg We have "loads" of photos of Kath and her older brother, Sean. WE did not take video though others did, so there may be some video of her out there. I think it's the shape of her face, the healthy rosey cheeks, the happy smile and a general happiness and enjoyment of life with a mom and dad that she knows truly and unconditionally love her. That's the similarity I see and like so much!
mohjoh1947 1 year ago
@mohjoh1947 All kids should be as unconditionally loved as Nina and Kathleen are. I'm glad you can "feel" that in these videos.

WOW what I would not give to go to that park! Those roller slides look so fun I would ride on them all day long. When you guys were blowing into those bean things you sounded like guinea pigs. hahah
melzaelf 1 year ago
@melzaelf Yeah, I had to give the roller slide quite a few tries myself.
So, that's what guinea pigs sound like? ha ha
