the jobcentre is just a brothel for the private agencies to pim money out of those who have the misfortune to be unemployed for over 12 months(its a no brainer that in 2011 a lot of people are in that boat not cause there lazy but coz the cruddy gobcentre does not invest in any menigfull re training programmes(for a specfic trade) when I told one of the advisers that I had been offered a place in sept on a plumbing course she told that effort could not count towards getting off the dole

Well. I must confess I have never really had to work. Daddy's failthy rich you see. And besides I'm far too busy having fun. If I had to "work" wouldn't have time to hang out with my rich friends-they don't work either. Feel sorry for all you people that have to do dull boring 9 to 5 jobs for 50 hours a week. How is it possible to work for your dole and still meet the minimum wage. For an adult on £65pw dole you are already living on less than half the legal minimium wage. If you start working for £65pw surely that is ilegal unless you work 65/minimum wage which equals about 12 hours work a week. And then you would still have to claim housing benefit-unless they get you out of your home and living rough. FND is there to make the providers of it rich-parasiting of the unemployed in essence.

There not enough jobs in the economy to employ all (there are going to be even less in future) and there are vulnerable people that are not viably employable.

Either people will be used for slave labour for the profit of private concerns or the most vulnerable and the older, will end up being denied any benefits and die of poverty in large numbers.

Either way the government is going to save money and that is the all point.

We are looking at a de-civilisation of society.

Welfare Claimants are arguably the most demonised people in the UK today. The amount of misconceptions and vilifying- encouraged by the red top press, makes my blood boil.

Sometimes I find it hard to stay calm when debating with people on this because of my personal experience. The problem is we live in a society where people are automatically judged by employment status and that infuriates me. Honesty, integrity and empathy are qualities that can be found in either the employed or unemployed.

I do not consider 'hard work' to be automatically a virtue because people can work hard with the wrong ultimate goal. It could be argued that dictators work hard to impose their draconian policies. Im not an economist so I can't pretend I have all the answers but I do know that at present the unemployed, and particularly claimants are the only minority group whereby its still publicly acceptable to discriminate against, by which I mean casual negative generalisations.

I can empathise with your frustration. In the end I decided to leave because I could no longer take it. I still don't have paid work so its not easy from a financial perspective but I recommend you save as much JSA as you can and then leave. Enough people doing so will send out the message that this system is deeply flawed and Cameron's plans for 'reform' will be even more draconian.

yes i have ended up leaving, and am now registered as self employed, and have my first art exhibition on friday, where I'll be selling work. so things are looking up! and i agree- I feel sorry for the people signing on under cameron's britain.

I agree as I have only been signing on for about two weeks now after my contract finished at my old job and now I am volunteering at an art gallery bye choice just to get out of the house. As I hate it when people say everyone on JSA are lazy as well as everyone at the Job centre don't help, now I don't know about you, but yes I am lazy even though I have a 1st class BA Hons degree, a Masters degree and have over eight years experience in my field which is in the creative arts, they need change

I am lucky i have skills where i work for myself, but it is true, New Deal makes you sign a 'contract' agreeing to accept any minimum wage scummy job, wiping old mens arses sweeping streets stacking shelves anything. If you refuse-don't sign it or disagree with any of their 'pre conditions' they cut all money off from 3 weeks to 26 weeks to indefinately.

All the fat lazy Women there get clothing allowance AND good wages for sitting on arses chatting to mates at OUR EXPENSE..

In the UK, one of the worst things is the stigmatising. A lot of self righteous people seem to think they have it all worked out about JSA- apparently we are all lazy criminals. I strongly urge people to visit my Facebook group 'Generalising the unemployed' There are a number of hate groups online and its important to counteract this. Many thanks.

Perhaps if you had asked in a different way I wouldn't have minded. All you need to know is that I have volunteered in a number of sectors and that things haven't allways worked out for me. a4e is the private commpany the goverment use on new deal it a 13 week coarse where you work a 5 day week for £75 a week a4e get £194 pounds aweek per unemployed person a week why not cut the a4e out of the picture and give someone a job for £250 a week doing usefull things for socity,by the way a4e is owned by emma harrison who has a lovely mansion paid for by tax payers so why not give unemployd people a real job instead of makeing people like emma millionares with your taxes

@lordchickdore This is what happens during "Stage 3 of Flexible new deal". When you reach "Stage 4" you don't get the extra £15, your time with A4e is increased to a year or more, and during that time you will be forced to do one month of unpaid 2 "voluntary" labour-though how it can be regarded as voluntary when you are forced to do it or lose your dole so it can't be described as voluntary. Probably the whole deal is to soften you up to accept having to work below minimum wage for your dole.
