  • can i install from USB flash drive without an Operating system already installed to the computer?

  • do you need to go in to the bios , i'm recovering somebodys laptop. But he dossent know the password anymore.. :(

  • @YaBoyChris0223 depinds on the laptop.

you'll most likely need to go in to set the boot order to boot from the usb first.

if you lost the bios PW check online for a bios reset jumper some laptops have them.

if it's an IBM laptop your sol on the PW recovery without paying someone.

  • @Zagroseckt thanks, i got the same laptop acer aspire one.. Do you know a bios reset jumper for it?

  • @YaBoyChris0223 umm honistly i never looked when i upgraded the ram.

you could look on the net to see. But i can say that when i did my upgrade i pulled the bios battery out for a few hrs and it lost the supervisor password i did not have a bios password setup.

    just the POST password.

  • WOW!, you just saved my life! :D

Had problems with that linux shit for 1 year and now it's windows7 :)

  • SWEET my netbook is saved thanks mate i am going to subb

  • Apretando Ctrl + alt + F12

    En Algunas PC Lo Solicitan

  • after i click 'Custom(Advanced)

    I have : Disk 0 Partition 1 and Disk 0 Partition 2

I highlighted each of them but it gave me a warning that windows can only be install

on NTFS drive only below the advanced settings

  • One question aqain.. Say i do everything correctly and got windows 7 installed and setup on disk 0 partition 2 (acer) system, and i DID NOT delete partition 1(pqservice) & i want to go bak to factory deafult(win xp) will acer erecovery (alt+f10) at the startup work, and if it doesnt, how do i go back to factory default WITHOUT the discs, Please reply/answer. THANK YOU!

  • @AlexGT25 acer genrily has a recovery disk maker. do that befor ya start.

as for retaining the partition since it's pulled up by the bios it should work but don't take my word for it.

if you need the disks you'll just have to get them. it's not like acer charges alot for them.

  • are you craig from malcom in the middle?

10 minutes can take over 3 hrs to upload.

i've actuily ben putting off uploading a new camera unboxing and some minor overdone projects (i got an ipad junk like that) do to the time my upload bandwisth is only about 30k per sec and youtube eats so much of it - it makes it so you can barly open a web page :p

You know i'm kind of looking for a new project right now.

  • do i have to do all that bios crap or can i just run it from in the windows i own a pc by the way not a notebook

  • so let me get this straight i have to delete my partition and then format it wtf

  • @ogmix333 no WTF about it. W7 likes a clean install with it's own formatting.

    Fore best results that is.

  • lol i just rated dislike this video oops

    i was gonna...

    nvm

    later

  • I don't care stop bothering me.

  • after I install windows 7 do have to reset the settings in the boot menu back to the original place.

  • i haven't.

    But, your experience may very.

  • I was wondering do i have to go back to the boot menu and reset the settings and if i have to, can you tell me how?

  • umm your asking me to tell you how to do somthing i just told you how to do ...

you do relise that swiching that setting in the menu is done prety much the same way to switch it back.

  • sorry , i meant WintoFLash, Theres a couple of vids on youtube about it, just not sure if you need to set it up

  • if it's the one you download from microsoft then no just keep in mind it's going to erase the USB stick in the prosess of setting it up . other than that it's all automatic. wich is nice

  • If I use that WintoUSB program, do I still need to do all the CMD commands as you did in part 2?

  • if your talking about the windows download maniger thing that eather burns the iso to disk or makes a USB installer. you do not have to bother setting up the USB stick and copying those files over that program does it for you providing it recognises the usb stick

  • im lost on 8:52 do u DELETE or FORMAT partition 2

  • i deleted it.

You can keep it if you want it contains the recovery partition for windows xp.

i do not know if recovery mode stays intact after as i did delete xp

    completely.....

  • @Zagroseckt How can I enter the recovery partition ??

  • Thats upto you if you delete partition2 on the HDD you'll loos the windows xp backup/restore file.

  • Phönix Bios??

  • hello i have i problem booting from my USB... when i go into the bios>boot options, the USB HDD shows up as

"-USB HDD"... and i set that as first but my computer continues to boot normally.. am i doing something wrong or missed a step? and i got lost when you "turned off" your laptop at 4:24...

can you help me get it right?

    thnax in advance

  • should i jus upgrade if i have vista or choose the custom option

  • honistly with any version of windows if you want your upgrade experince to be the smoothest you cant manige i'd do a full reinstall skipping the upgrade option if you have good backups and can reinstall all your utility software (word prosesser games exct)

Alltho some folks have ok upgrade experinces i find that it allways leaves teweeking and small bugs behind that can take months to show up. So i'd do custom and wipe the old instalation out compleatly.

  • Man.... u have my Same Computer And USB But idk if urs is 4Gb Sandisk Cruzer

  • a 4g stick should work just fine W7 only needs around 3G of space on the stick

  • Thank you very much! I needed to do this to upgrade from 32-bit RTM to 64-bit paid upgrade. FYI everyone, to do this from 32 to 64 you will need to insert a bootable 32 bit dvd into the drive for the entire process except when you are copying your windows files onto the usb drive. GL

  • is the windows 7 download unlimited?

  • @GoGoCentralz Most companies say that their software is only downloadable to a limited number of computers. However, their intent is to deceive the consumer and force them to buy a more expensive version of the software. And yet, the download is unlimited.

  • is there a special way to restore back to xp once the RC expires? jw
