I sure CANNOT believe how much was cut out of this movie when it would come on TV. Back in the 80's, my mom taped this movie...

I watch the uncut version recently and it shocks me how much they decided to cut out. Some of it should not have been cut at all. In any case, I prefer the uncut versions of movies, no matter how long. It's not like you have to watch the whole thing in one sitting if a movie is long.. Anyway, thanks for adding this move to the site!

We had a VHS copy of this film that we recorded when it was featured on the Magical World of Disney, and I watched it over and over again. The intro was cut out for time purposes, and when I see it now I'm amazed. In between the beautiful tapestry images that depict and foreshadow scenes in the story, there are all those legendary names that made Disney great: the Sherman Brothers in the music, several of the Nine Old Men in the animation, and director Robert Stevenson to name a few.

I don't know whether this has been posted or not, so apologies if it has. Could somebody please just tell me why there are parts of this movie missing from the DVD? Seems strange as some of these missing parts are quite important to how the story moves on to the next scene lol.

Man, this movie had it all. Angela Lansbury learning witchcraft, flying a bed across the world instead of a broom, bringing everyone under the sea and into a storybook, and last but not least...living knight armor. FIGHTING. THE NAZIS.

She's a kind British lady, but if you're a Nazi or a douchebag in general, Angela can be one dangerous bitch.

Can you believe that they actually cut everything from that movie in the german version that directly implied something about World War II? The whole soldier song in the beginning is missing, the intro was re-cut so that you cannot see any Nazis... wow. And that was 1971!

Why do I get the feeling that the version I grew up with was heavily edited? I know my mother edited the Wicked Witch scenes out of the Wizard of Oz, I wouldn't be surprised if she edited this movie too...
