Thanks for mentioning George Barnes's take on Clarinet Polka. This was used for years as the opening theme music for CBC (Canada) Radio's Max Ferguson Show. Some of the tastiest guitar playing I've ever heard. Difficult to find a copy of this rare treat.
Do you have a recording of your Dad doing the "Clarinet Polka" on guitar? I think I may have a 10-inch 78 rpm of that, I'll look through my collection and see if I can find it. - email is prj@mhcable.com if you want to connect....
hi, adlerangriffe...the guitarist in this video is my father, george barnes. he was a pioneer of the electric guitar, a musical innovator, and i'm producing a transmedia musical history based on his 44-year career titled THE GEORGE BARNES LEGACY COLLECTION. i'd love to include this video in the collection -- would it be possible for us to connect? many thanks...alexandra leh

George was awesome!
I think I was one of his last students back in 1977!
I used to see him up at "Henry the Viii" in Concord with Duncan james.
God Bless him!

Dorothy Collins could sing anything brilliantly. She was so good!
Interesting how the arrangement for the early Barbra Streisand version of this song has a bit of a similar feel.
A great posting -- thanks!
