  • which scale is it?

  • Great playing Chris, love the tone of your PRS, also Suhr are great, my favourite strat like guitar,

  • chris you are great !!!!

  • Excellent............and he's an Aussie

  • wow man, what a picking hand,u have very hot picking techniqe!!

  • Thanks a lot!!!

  • Great improvising!!!! This track seems to be a favourite on youtube I would love to know its title! Thanks

  • @turockandar Thanks! It's a jamtrackcentral track called Larry Carlton style.

  • Hi Chris, very good playing mate, keep it up. You have had your Suhr for a while now and it sounds and looks great. I also like your PRS. Which guitar is your current favourite. Cheers for now.

  • @guitarsandme Current favorite for the music I'm making right now is the Suhr. It does the mid-gain thing beautifully and has amazing clarity through darker amps. The PRS is smooth for leads and raw for rhythms and I like that too. It's a keeper, but not entirely what I hear in my head at the moment.

  • Interesting lines.. strong.. and powerful..

  • dude that was hot i love to watch more :)

  • hey man i love the way you play and i am have a PRS custom 22 on lay by :D im 17 with no money thats why :P hahah im wondering if you have any tips on how to properly do chromatic soloing if you could give any pointers thanks!

  • is this from months of practice? :D im trying and right now it seems impossible .. any advice?

  • @Ins4n3Guit4rist I find that jamming the chords gives one a better idea of what melodies to play. See if that helps.

  • @rodg20 jamtrackcentral, with a dot and a com

  • Wooooooooowwwwww.........

  • Way to go bro! :)

  • WOW

  • A bit less distortion. Your technique handels that ;) Then it would be awesome.

  • @cbs5 I'll go back in time and adjust it, lol. thanks!

  • awesome! where did you study guitar/music?

  • @roccckkerrr self-taught primarily. thanks!

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • wild !!! awesome

  • Chris you are outstanding!!!!

  • @mercman58 thanks so much!

  • Can I say I like your Larry Carlton better than Larry Carlton's Larry Carlton?

  • @numbersabcdefg You can! Thanks!

  • Awesome, Chris!!!

  • @LarsBauer74 Cheers!

  • can someone tell me where ican download good tracks ? i want them so i can play along them on bass ?

  • @thesolidpain Hi Brother. try guitarbackingtrack if you have found other sites can you let me know. Cheers.

  • Real nice!!. I have heard of you, but never really checked you out. Very impressive.

Your channel shows your versatility. Skill to shred it (entertaining) & the imagination and creativity to make a song with emotional attachment.

  • @markatier Thanks very much. I appreciate it!

  • @markatier thanks so much for the kind words!

  • Chris right up there with the top guitarists. Why compare? They all have different styles and something to contribute. Chris is unique and phenomenal on the guitar!

    5 stars!

  • Great job Chris. You are awesome man!

  • @guitarttimman Cheers for the kind words.

  • @guitarttimman cheers!

  • Do you want a beer? ^^

  • @wnfcjkenvfj I agree, but Guthrie is also a God.. remember.

  • good but i gotta say guthrie govans is better!

  • Wow! That was awesome!

  • @Kjutte1 The point of improv is that you only spend the amount of time that it takes to play on on it.

  • @GuillermoSmyser precisely! So much talk about a couple of moments in time.

  • Wow! That was awesome!

  • wonderfull

    5555+++++++

  • Nice!!

  • There are some really sweet parts in it. For an improv, it's great!

  • Really carltonish... nice work...

  • Amazingly brutal chris, as always.

Check out my guitar cover if you want, its not that great but practice will hopefully help me eventually.

    Tom Taylor

  • Thanks Tom! Your playing has come such a long way since Californication and The Rasmus, lol! Great rhythm tone too!

  • Thanks man, feedback from pro's is always appreciated.

  • wow

This video makes me want to practice more !

  • Wow

This video makes me want to practice more :)

  • You sound fantastic. Besides C Dorian and Blues Pentatonic scales and harmonic minor... are there other things you use? Just phenomenal!!!. You, Marco and Guthrie are my top 3!!!

  • They are all great. Also check out Jack Thammarat's YouTube video "Improvise in Larry Carlton Style" - 5 minutes of sustained brilliance.

  • no - Guthrie Govan blows this guy away - check him out

  • Marco Sfogli has the best!

  • Good call. Marco is awesome.

    Chris

  • yeah, your good also =], and my name is chris too lol

  • I would say that Marco and Chris are two different guitarists, thus it doesn't make any sense to compare each other.

Great playing for both of them!!!

  • 3rd best is pretty damn good though too!

  • Precisely right...

    1.- Guthrie

    2.- Marco

    3.- Chris

  • lol

  • Govan is the best hands down :)

  • This is really good, but it reminds me of the weather channel for some reason. ;)

  • Wow very clean and nice. Great job!!

  • Yes, Australia has produced some absolutely incredible guitarists including Garsed and Gambale. This guy is another monster. Like the others I have mentioned, he wins because he is a musician, not just a technician - which is no doubt the reason he appreciates Larry Carlton! Fabulous!

  • Great performance!!!

    Grandma Mary

  • Fantastic play and feel, I love your phrasing and adventurous approach routed in the Blues and Jazz, I hear diverse influences but they're assimilated in a very natural way and the main thing has become an adventurous, personal and very expressive style, you're a great Musician, pleased to listen to you, greetings from Holland,Victor.

  • hey man what scale are you using .... C minor?

  • A lot of the time, some dorian too where the chords have a major 6, harmonic minor over any V7 chords.

  • 5 stars!!!

  • good

  • hey you work for maxx music. what guitar amp and pedal is that

  • Paul Reed Smith Custom 24. No pedal.

  • im in love =))

  • that's incredible speed at the end

  • Good lord man, this is awesome. I've watched this video about 5 times today alone; I aspire to one day be able to solo over a track like this the way you do. Very complex and entertaining.

Your picking technique is very interesting. Reminds me of a video of Eric Johnson where he talked about 'circle picking'; is that similar to what you're doing here? It looks completely effortless.

  • Thanks mate! Nothing circular going on though I see why it looks that way. I barely move my wrist when going from string to string, as if my arm is nailed to the guitar and I can only move what I need to.

  • Wow super player.

  • So many great players about and this is one of them.

  • awesome man ....

  • I like this, He does his own improvisation and very outstanding at that!

  • quisiera que por favor alguien me diga de donde puedo bajar el track que suena de fondo , o sea el backing track

  • where can i get this backing track?

  • Nice PRS!!!!!!!!!!

  • this guy did this guitar and track justice

  • awesome job man :-)

  • What PRS model is that? Is it a custom 24 on the neck pickup?

  • nice job nice job

  • can someone please tell me what key this is in

  • changes a bit... mainly C minor and other modes of Eb maj as the chords dictate, and some C dorian, mixed with whatever passing tones and whatnot work.

  • love that phrasing

  • Great

  • 1:37 lick is very good... picking run!!

  • may i ask, if this is chris brooks' youtube account, what kind of amp you use. Your tone is fantastic.

  • This was just a V-Amp!! Real amp is MesaBoogie DR 1996

  • It's like Petrucci playing over it, they play prog metal don't expect typical lickage.

  • It's as if he has a master plan.

    ;-)

  • i don't think this sounds like Guthrie's version. Great job. Unique style :-)

  • this doesn't sound like Guthrie. Chris is awesome and this is unique :-)

  • fantasticcccc

  • Didn't we answer all that in the description?

  • some licks sound like guthrie's version, is yours improvised ?..

by the way, could you please send me the backing track ? thank you :)

  • smoooth

    and smexy guitar ~_~

  • great playing!

  • Real Kick-Ass technique! You play very innovatively!!! Check out my version if you like!

  • Good chops but your outside playing is not in. I think your phrasing is too much like rock for this type of track but I saw some of your other stuff and it's definitely good.

  • DAAAAAAMMMMMMNNNNNN!!!!!

  • Can someone wrigth down the chord chart for this tune?

  • awesome job man

  • Absolutely brilliant. This was inspiring and entertaining to watc. Makes me want to play for hours. :D

    Cheers. :)

  • chris is awesome

  • love it:P shit, im a drummer..

    still love it

  • who has this backing track?

  • sickk im just getting into jazz/fusion rite now its good stuff

  • Fucking off the wall man!

  • Absolutely beautiful playing Chris I loved it you are a great player!!

  • Great playing, but the tone is a bit muddy and confused...i prefer smoother tone :)

    Anyway great impro :)

  • is this 100% improvisation?

  • 100%. Chris chose it from a few takes and all were completely different and cool in their own way.

    CB street team

  • This is amazing... I just can't believe people can play to a backing track just like that. Phenomenal playing!

  • really feelin it, man. great

  • Really nice work! 5* and sub'd

  • Muy buen jam!! geniales fraseos en plan jazzy, si señor! ;)

    Un saludo

  • hi dude

how many fingers do you have ??

AWESOME and FIVE STARS VID ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

    cheerzz

  • Nice phrasing man, effortless playing. Tone is a bit muddy and indistinct, and outside playing a bit hesitant at times. Still great to hear you go down the fusion road more often :) WOuld like to see more impro's by you, you're packing alot of good lines!

    /Richard
