There are rules and restrictions that favour people who like going to ground - big soft gloves for a start, and no knees or elbows to the face/neck/groin. In a street fight it's hard to take someone to ground who is willing to knee you in the face to moment you go for their waist. So yeah, he might have won in a real fight, but putting a striker against a grappler and then handicapping the striker with gloves is a sure way to make sure we will never know. :)
@Restayvien Don't forget too that nowadays modern MMA fighters are well versed in both striking and grappling. So this argument of striker vs grappler may have been more useful in the past. Today, it is not as useful since fighters now train for both.

By your logic, if one could set any favourable conditions you wanted, it's like arguing Yilmaz would blow Uno out of the ring if it was a "Only Serkan is allowed to win and Uno has got to be his target pad" fight.

The thing is, it wasn't a stand up fight.
By your logic, if one could set any favourable conditions you wanted, it's like arguing Yilmaz would blow Uno out of the ring if it was a "Only Serkan is allowed to win and Uno has got to be his target pad" fight.
It was hardly about luck, it was far more dependent on skill and training.
Calling someone a "Chink" is really crude, especially when he's Japanese.

lol you fail. Lucky arm bar? Have you ever grappled at all? What Uno did (intelligently) is the fighting equivalent of grabbing a man who doesn't know how to swim and falling into a pool.
It wasn't Serkan's game, it was Uno's. Uno set the pace and setting and then won through skill.

Serkan is a good fighter. Most of TKD practitioners here know his name and proud of his achievement. I would give my salute to Serkan for his courage to participate in MMA match despite of him being stand-up fighter.
If this is a real street fight, I'd put my money on Serkan.

It was Serkan Yilmaz first time ever to fight a MMA match. He basically didn't have a choice.
K-1 told him, "If you want money, if you want to be on TV, you're gonna have to fight an MMA fighter in a MMA rule. Take it or leave it."

Two of my favourite fighters to watch. I hope that Serkan Yilmaz's absence from fighting for the past couple years has been to learn BJJ :D

sweet match. notice how far away uno stayed from serkan? he knew if he went any closer he was toast. although it looks like serkan did know at least some ground work, he picked the fight back up a few times....too bad he couldn't have just elbowed the guy down when uno was around his waist and he was till standing..lol but no matter, ground game is wat it is, better learn to use it.

yilmaz never should've never agreed to this match. It was pretty obvious he didn't have any ground game, which is fine if u're a stand-up fighter, but befor steppin into the rign with a submission specialist, he should've trained take-down defense. It was clear he didn't.
