Science proved long ago that the life of a unique individual begins at conception. Unborn babies have as much of a right to life as everyone else. BUT! The right to life is not unconditional. A person forfeits their right to life when they physically violate another person without that person's consent. An unwanted pregnancy is, by definition, without the mother's consent. An abortion is, therefore, an act of self defense which the government is obligated to support.

the best question to ask ourselves when trying to figure out when life begins (from a scientific perspective) is how do we determine when life ends. the answer to that question is when the heart stops beating. Science proved long ago that the life of a unique individual begins at conception. Unborn babies have as much of a right to life as everyone else. BUT! The right to life is not unconditional. A person forfeits their right to life when they physically violate another person without that person's consent. An unwanted pregnancy is, by definition, without the mother's consent. An abortion is, therefore, an act of self defense which the government is obligated to support.

Yeah, she's an expert liar as are all theists. The church didn't even know what conception was until science discovered it in the late19th century. Before that the church believed that every sperm contained a whole baby which simply planted itself in the uterus and grew like a plant. It also taught that the soul didn't enter the body until the moment of birth. Big deal. My moral truths don't come from any church, they come from logic and common sense.

Ok...I am trying to take a neutral stance on this using her logic. If she claims to be a catholic and catholics believe abortion to be a sin then her answer should be simple. "It should not matter when a child is given or not given human rights as abortion under a catholic perspective is a non-issue in that it is NOT an option." If you become pregnant then it would be sin to end that life. The Lord can cause a miscarriage if the life is not meant to be.

So doesn't it seem logical to say that life begins when the heart starts beating? Science has determined that the heart starts beating at approx. 21 days. at this time the child also has developed a nervous system, which means the child can feel pain.

She lied. The Catholic Church knows when a human life begins; at the moment of conception. Christ was God even in Mary's womb. The format "and was made incarnate of the Virgin Mary" in the Creed proves that Christ was man and God at the moment of conception, not at the moment of birth, it would not matter when it was made. Beyond that, most abortions occur because contraception failed. It would behoove her to support chastity, because then there is no risk of pregnancy period.

No
The woman's body provides nothing more then nutrients after fertilization occurs. No new genetic material. All of the genetic material is contained inside of the fertilized egg.
I watched the doctor pull the placenta out after the birth of my daughter. There is no amputation the woman's body just lets go of the person inside her.
