The thing with emo that's different than punk is that it has "homosexual vibes", and that's why punks get angry, because most punks have always been homophobic because they feel different, and they are okay with being different, and you can call them anything except a fag, or they will flip, because it's ultimately what they are afraid to become. Mike Ness is obviously comfortable with anything sex-related and his own sexuality, so he can do what he pleases cause he knows himself.

Tolerance was always abundant whether you were 15 or 30, had a mohawk or a job, wanted to revolt or change the system from within...No one cared as long as you had a love for the music, cared for others and believed in your own ideals. Turnout? Album sales? A crowd? We knew we needed a gathering instead.
