  • This game show has never been more needed.

  • Nicotero is probably set for life nowadays.

  • The way the lady introduced the host brings back soooo many memories.

  • Except for DEBTANATORS you don't have the wager anything, until on Jeopardy!

  • This was the exact problem... too many guys watched Debt and that woman's channel knew we guys don't buy womens products...

Too bad... on USA or another general channel Debt would have went on and on...

  • @thegameshowguy The same thing happened to "Supermarket Sweep." At least Lowell Paxson stepped in to give that show a reprieve, if only briefly.

  • @pooka5472 And also Shop 'Til You Drop, I believe. But it did get one two-year reprieve on Family Channel and two two-year reprieves on PAX, the latter one being hosted by JD Roberto. I gotta say I loved Pat Finn better but JD did a good job as well.

  • It's good to see that this show has not gone forgotten...I still remember the "DEBT-ONATOR", the way the trilons in Rd. 2 would show an expired clue with a :) face, and the guard with the briefcase full of cash in the bonus round if the contestant decided to try to win their amount in debt instead of breaking even.

  • Frank kicks ass

  • They play "Life" to see who goes first?

Wouldn't it be simpler and less time consuming to just draw numbers?

  • No, when they say that they were talking about who spent the most money as a result of being in debt.

  • No, stupid. What Wink means is that since Frank had the least debt before they all got averaged, he goes first. A monkey could've figured that out!

  • I find it interesting that people are saying that "Debt" is a "Jeopardy!" ripoff, since Wink Martindale hosted another game show that was packaged by Merv Griffin and announced by Johnny Gilbert, "Headline Chasers."

  • Noticed the intro when Wink almost always says "And now, let's meet today's contestai..."

  • Debt is a "Jeopardy" rip-off but a good show

  • I agree. That's why I just don't understand why Lifetime made the fact that it appealed to both men and women into such a big issue! If they were afraid of that, maybe they shouldn't have aired it!

Seriously, why does it matter which sex is watching the show, as long as people are watching it!

  • Does anyone besides me think that in some way, this is a spinoff of Jeopardy?

  • Can you please post the other ep. you have? It's hard to see at far shots.

  • this takes me back to when i was like 8 years old...the 90s were the best...

  • lol, you bet your ass they were.

  • Absouletely, for instance when this aired I was either twelve or thirteen.

  • Is Julie saying "starting the host"?

  • Starting *at* host. They were trying a more raucous, 90s approach to game shows here. She also spoke, "The Crown Prince of Credit! The Duke of Debt!" And Wink always beginning with, "Let's get this party started, shall we?!"

  • Guys, let's all test our buzzers! (DING!)

  • So? He only filled in once.

  • Twice now.

  • This first ound seems like it is a Jeopardy! rip-off; good thing it changed in the second season otherwise we would have a copycat here. The questions here are a little to be desired I guess bearing that it was a cable show they didn't want it to be to difficult; especially for the women this show was targetted for. If there is any show that is "Jeopardy for stupid people" it's the unsold pilot for USA called Grill Me. This first round was to be desired and Frank good luck to you.

  • This one is like jeopardy! but for stupid people. and what happend to equal ammout of their debt

  • Holy toledo, what is it with not understanding the rules?

The debts are averaged to make things fair, and helps determine even better of who moves on to the next round and what-not. And besides, Debt wasn't a bad show.

  • This is like Jeopardy!!! I was just about to say that. Not with the picking the dollar amounts but the way you have to answer when you buzz in. Do you notice that? And as far as your other quesiton: Americans don't manage their money properly!!!!!!

  • Wait a minute, what was wrong with Wink Martindale?

  • I agree, I mean despite him being in his 70's Wink Martindale is still able to host any kind of Game Show.

He's a TRUE Legend just like Richard Dawson, Dick Clark and even Jim Lange, Jim Perry, Jack Narz and Tom Kennedy.

  • I grew up with Wink. Thanks to GSN!!! And Trivial Pursuit and the greatest DEBT!!!!!!!!! I want them to bring back that show and ask me to host it. I could wear a tuxedo well even though I'm only 5 foot 6. As Wink would say "Let's get this party started!!!"

  • Guys seeing this vid, I finally acquired the same episode with better quality. I will see what I can do to replace this with the better one when I can. It may take time

  • sorry. silly me

  • what was with that audience. i thought that the show was great, but the audience acted as if each category was something sexual....geez

  • Aw, I loved this show so much. GSN should pick up this and Supermarket Sweep.

  • that's my favorite game show mt make debt and post mr mt just like season 2 set without the you are... form

  • He IS making Debt, and I hope he gets it up soon.

  • The final recording completed just the other day, and I FINALLY have an intro for it, though it's an alternative since Martindale's was very challenging. Expect to see it late April/early May

  • You bet, MT!

  • Frank Nicotero, comedian and TV personality, played Debt in 1997, the same year Andrew Golder followed up the Wink Martindale-hosted

Lifetime game show with two more Disney/ABC Domestic Television series launched on Comedy

Central: Make Me Laugh and Win Ben Stein's Money.

  • Front game looked more like minus Jeopardy!.

  • Funny Category: "HOW CORNY CAN YOU GET?"

  • the piggy bank looks a heck of a lot like hamm from "toy story"

  • It is Hamm. Debt was distrubuted by Buena Vista, which is Disney owned.

  • that explains it.

  • the debtonator was picked almost right off the bat.

  • The sound effects have been taken directly from Win Ben Stein's Money.

  • Actually, Debt was introduced a year BEFORE WBSM was even introduced. Debt used the sound effects first.

  • Actually, if this is true, it would be the reverse. Debt came before Win Ben Stein's Money.
