  • CHOPIIIIIN! Heh... gotta love Animal.

  • thumps up for zero mostel chucking a lamp at the floor

  • Sam's reaction is priceless. XD

  • Yes i loved watching rerunds of this.

  • I miss seeing the spinning green and red "gift bow" (my name for it) and orchestra ITC start -which is a British production company- of this show when it originally aired and in reruns in the 80's

  • Kermitt is Frank McCourt in this episode.

  • If memory serves, this was Zero Mostel's very last performance. He died with days after its airing. My family had all gone to see him play The Fiddler when I was younger. He meant a lot to me.

    Rest In Peace, Multitalented One

  • @cliffwalkinfool mmmm...well if you gotta go, go with the Muppets.

  • @cliffwalkinfool Actually, he died before the espisode aired. He was the only guest star of the Muppet Show to do so. (according to Wikipedia)

  • Who did the guitar part for Janice?

  • @chemicalreaction94 If I'm not mistaken, it consisted of musicians from the orchestra that did the music for the Muppet Show. The funny thing is that there were certain groups (ELP, Egg, Ekseption) experimenting with classical music in a rock format in the seventies.

  • This is was Zero Mostel's last tv appearance..it aired after he died.

  • FYI, Zero Mostel was performing the on stage version of "Fiddler on The Roof" in NYC, I think, Did he have a heart attack before the episode did get transmitted?

  • hahaha! love Dr. Teeth's arrangement of Chopin's Polonaise! CHOPIN!!!!! CHOPIN!!!! :P

  • Dr. Teeth rocks!

  • thank you drjuliusstrangepork for uploading all these videos for us. The Muppets are an important part of American culture and thanks you to people can laugh and love the Muppets like they did thirty years or so ago. Thanks to you the spirit of the Muppets can live on once more in the hearts of children everywhere. God bless you.

  • I'm not eating, I'm being eaten

  • I was in a local production of Camelot this summer as Pellinore, so 'What do the Simple Folk do?' brought back great memories.

  • This was the best episode of the series.

  • hes got tiny little feet :)

  • Can I just say thank you very much DrJuliusStrangepork, I was too young to watch these when they came out and can't buy them yet. Thank you so much for sharing

  • LOL can almost be counted on, with these guys!!

    and Pagliacci and The Stripper

    and a cute doggie!

With echoes of Richard Burton and Henry VIII !!!

  • LOL can almost be counted on, with these guys!!

  • Monster: Chopin! Chopin!

    (Wow, that song was great!)

  • Best Muppet Show episode EVER! Thanks, Dr JS.

  • Zero died September 8, 1977, so when did this actually air? I hope you have 'Fear of Zero' on your roster to uplaod! Thanks so much for this high quality video.

  • Thank you for your uploads!

  • RIP Zero Mostel

He never lived to see this episode on TV.

  • @batmous Yay he did episode 3 months before he died and the episode air 3 months after he died.

  • I love you so much for uploading all of these.

  • A remix for classical music. I like it.

  • Kermit: But first in an attempt to placate our culture lovers in the audience...

Sam the Eagle: Oh, at last, at last...

    Kermit:...and in the wings...

Yes that's right, "BOTH" of you. LOL

  • where's my teeth???

  • I have been looking for this episode. Thanks a lot DrJuliusStrangepork. Now this is vintage muppets.

  • fan-bloody-tastic full episdoes what a nostalgia trip thanks so much

  • That actually sounds hip!

  • ...as perfromed by DR. TEETH!?

    Sam the Eagle: What?

  • Animal: "CHOPIIIN! CHOPIIIIIIIIIIIN! CHOPIN! CHOPIN! CHOPIN!"

    Sam: *sobs into curtain*

  • Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem actually seem like the bunch that would appreciate all sorts of music, not just lively stuff. Though I still see Rowlf as the most musical Muppet.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, Chopin's Polynise in A Flat, performed by.....Dr. Teeth?

    What?

  • The Electric Mayhem is the name of the band (with Janice, Animal, Zoot, ect...) Dr. Teeth is sort of the leader, the one with the hat (and the teeth!)

  • thanks! im not sure how i got so awfully confused...

  • I always thought it was "Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem"

  • It's "pianist".

A pianist is a musician who plays the piano

  • Yeah, they made a joke about that on Animaniacs once.

Beethoven: I am Ludwig von Beethoven, the world famous pianist!

    Yakko: You're a what?

    Beethoven: A pianist! A PIANIST!

    Yakko: GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY!

  • actually, the correct word is pianoist.

  • You need to look that up. Really.

  • lol the aniamil, CHOOPAANNNNNNNN

  • I wonder if the bit where Zero clutches his leg after the dance at 9:04 was a bit by Zero or legit...

One of his legs is extremely damaged ever since he got hit by a streetcar...

  • when was that?

  • According to his wiki, that was Jan. 13, 1960.

Apparently his leg was damaged to the point that doctors wanted to amputate it, but Zero decided to risk gangrene and attempt to heal, which he did, thankfully.

Apparently while he was able to overcome it, it still pained him the rest of his life, not unlike the character Gregory House.

Hence I wonder if that was a bit he did to be amusing, or if he was in legit pain.

  • I love the Pagliacci references :-)

  • Zero is the only Muppets guest who died before his episode aired.

  • Why would J.P. Grosse (Scooter's uncle) refer to "lady wrestling" as a 'good ol' fashioned entertainment'?

  • Lady Wrestler, my love is wiiiide open... o/`

  • @32932356 I wish I knew!

  • When the cigar smoke was coming out of the phone, I thought at first that JP Grosse was "steaming" mad.

  • How Zappa.

  • you mean the Electric Mayhem playing Chopin, Dnrothx?

  • lol i was on the floor from laughter for along time

  • I love it. Zero Mostel is amazing! You are all talented and even you too Kermit!

  • What does Fozzie say? It sounds like the concert pens couldn't make it!

  • He said "the concert pianist couldn't make it." Great episode!

  • Concert pens? X3 LOLWUT!

  • as a great Chopin lover i was so scandalised...

i was rolling on the floor laughing!

  • Even the Electric Mayhem know the value of classical roots. ;D LOL

  • XD! Zero Mostel is killing me!!! I like the song he's singing; sounds catchy.

  • I think its from Camalot....

  • It is. It is based on the song 'What Simple Folk do?' Speaking of which, I think I should get that CD.

  • Yes, it is from Camelot

  • It's amazing he didn't set fire to the set in that sketch.

  • Zero Mostel appears healthy and even agile in this clip, but he died about 3 months after this (before it was even aired on television).

  • Rest in Peace

  • "CHOPIN! CHOPIIIIIN!" That killed me. Lol!

  • And Sam the Eagle's reaction makes it even better.

  • great show, sam the eagle the ultimate straight man

  • I could've sworn that was Maya Rudolph playing gutiar!

  • We need to have the Swedish Chef telling people about his hellish night with Celine Dion in this. XD

  • You can't beat the classics. (you can only destroy them.)LOL

  • I love the bit that Kermit and Scooter did!

    "What does your uncle want?"

    "Lady wrestlers!"

"Great I thought he'd ask for something tasteless."

  • CHOPIN!

  • This is the first (and only) time we see Behemoth in the second season. He looks almost as big as an actual person.

  • Upload more episodes of the show & where are you getting these episodes anyway.

  • I will be uploading an episode per day. They are from the second season box set. I have about 16 left to upload. I may buy the first season, and upload them when I get done.

  • god bless you!

    the muppets were the best!

  • Did you know that the Muppet Show Season 3 comes out May 20th on DVD? Could you please upload them when it comes out?

  • @DrJuliusStrangepork I love these uploads!

    Thank you so much!!

  • any idea what year this is from???

  • @lillebird No later than 1977, the year Zero Mostel passed on.
