  • Thumbs up if your sick of seeing debates whenever you just wanna watch a DL video.

  • THE UNIATE APOSTASY IS A COUNTERFEIT OF ORTHODOXY USED TO LURE ORTHODOX CATHOLICS AWAY FROM THE TRUE CHURCH INTO PAPAL BLASPHEMIES AND SOUL DESTROYING HERESIES! BEING A UNIATE MEANS YOU ARE AN APOSTATE FROM ORTHODOXY IN A HELL BOUND CULT! EVERY UNIATE BEARS THE SIN OF APOSTASY FROM THE ORTHODOX CATHOLIC CHURCH, BEING CONDEMNED FOR LEAVING THE TRUE CHURCH FOR PAPAL BLASPHEMY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HERESY! UNTIL THE UNIATE PROBLEM IS SOLVED ALONG WITH REPENTANCE FOR FILIOQUE, THERE CAN BE NO UNITY

  • ...Acts 1:4 states Christ commands his disciples to "Wait for the Promise of the Father", that is the Holy Spirit. I took this video BTW, and our priest is not a bishop, he is a mitred archpriest. In the Russian Orthodox Church, devout and long serving priests can be awarded the crown of the mitre as Orthodox monastic archimandrites can. Fr. John has been our priest for 41 years.

  • ...the Holy Spirit receives His eternal existence only from the Father. In conformity to Christ's words, the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed confesses belief "in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father." while the Son is begotten of the Father alone, The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father alone. The source, the Fountainhead of both persons is the Father.

  • Christ is Risen! Mandalore, I believe the scriptural references you provide prove the Orthodox point exactly. John 15:26, the Orthodox Study Bible comments: the Son sends the Holy Spirit FROM THE FATHER. With respect to divine nature, the Holy Spirit eternally PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER alone. In other words...(cont)

  • Ultimately it is our ecclesiastical differences that is going to keep us separated, we just don't see the Roman Pontiff as the only one fulfilling the office of Peter.

  • @phyzicsify NO IT IS THEOLOGICAL. THE LATINS ARE HERETICS WHO TEACH BLASPHEMY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

  • As a Roman Catholic who was baptized as a Greek Rite Catholic (at 8 mths old), I would DEFINITELY have to say watching this really makes me feel more in communion with God. MANY YEARS, CHRIST IS RISEN!!!!!

  • @NeluThat70sKid YOU ARE AN APOSTATE HERETIC. REPENT AND RETURN TO CHRIST's CHURCH.

  • @jasonbently2002 lol, I'm sorry, excuse me, I honestly don't know where, for the life of me, you have the unmitigated gall to accuse me of apostasy or even spreading heresy, but since I was brought up Roman Catholic (but baptized in the the Greek rite), I really have found watching this video to be a true blessing (no doubt about it--period). Plus, in fact, I've been to various Orthodox churches in my area for the past 15 years, along with reading up on the faith (the TRUE faith, for the record)

  • @jasonbently2002 Although I really do hate to alienate my fellow Roman Catholics (including those in my own family), but I also already have rejected the teachings surrounding the filioque a very long time ago (because the Holy Spirit DOES proceed ONLY from the Father, our Creator, believe me--I have). Besides, not ALL Latins go about pushing lies and heresies, there are those of us who KNOW HOW TO KEEP A FULL OPEN MIND TO THE TRUE FAITH, SO TAKE YOUR GROSS GENERALIZATIONS ELSEWHERE.

  • @NeluThat70sKid Your rejection of filioque won't make a difference UNTIL YOU UNITE YOURSELF WITH THE ORTHODOX CATHOLIC CHURCH AND LEAVE BEHIND THE PAPAL HERETICAL CHURCH. SO SPARE US THE ECUMENIST TRYPE!

  • @jasonbently2002 I'M NOT AT ALL PUSHING ANY "ECUMENIST TRYPE" OF ANY KIND HERE, PLUS, I DO BELIEVE IN FULL COMMUNION WITH THE ORTHODOX CHURCH, SO NOT ALL CATHOLICS GO ABOUT PUSHING LIES AND HERESIES (THOUGH THEY DO INSIST ON KEEPING THINGS AROUND THEM STATUS QUO, WHICH I ALREADY HAPPEN TO RESENT, AND I'M NOT AT ALL SAYING ANY OF THIS TO MAKE MYSELF LOOK GOOD EITHER). BUT THE LAST AND FINAL THING NOT NEEDED HERE

IS PROSELYTIZING BEING RAMMED DOWN THE THROATS OF NON-ORTHODOX LIKE MYSELF

  • @NeluThat70sKid IF YOU WON'T ACCEPT ORTHODOX WITNESS, UNIATE APOSTATE, GO TO YOUR OWN VIDEOS AND YOUR OWN THREADS AND TAKE YOUR THREE DOLLAR BILL UNIATE COUNTERFEIT WITH YOU! IF YOU WISH TO UNITE YOURSELF WITH CHRIST's TRUE CHURCH, THE ORTHODOX CATHOLIC CHURCH, AND RENOUNCE YOUR APOSTASY FROM IT, UNITE YOURSELF TO THE ARK OF SALVATION AND REJECT YOUR BLASPHEMOUS AND SOUL DESTROYING UNIA! THESE VIDEOS ARE ORTHODOX WITNESS, AND IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE PROSELYTIZED BY THEM, DON'T WATCH THEM!

  • @jasonbently2002 Gosh, can we get this guy a bottle of holy water? Maybe an exorcist? @_o

What separates the Catholics and Orthodox is little. Mainly two issues: the Papacy's supremacy over all clergy, and Catholic theology which uses (pagan) human reason and not only theoria. We both have the Real Presence, apostolic succession in the clergy, the original undefiled Scriptures, the revelations of the Saints, central authority, and other things (which, I will note, many Protestants lack).

  • @SorokChyetirye

There are no sacraments out of Church (Orthodox)

  • take out that seats and put veils!!!!

    KRISTOS VOSKRESE!

  • @Loiginer VOISTINOU VOSKRESE!

  • Is this man a Bishop? I see episcopal insignia such as the Crown... they believe that the actual consecration happens at the epiclesis but Catholics believe that it is during the Institution Narrative.

  • Is this man a Bishop? I see episcopal insignia such as the Crown...

  • But as a Latin Catholic, I so dearly love my brothers in the Orthodox Churches. I have been studying them a bit, and I can see we are kindred spirits in so many ways. I don't know how it will happen, but I do hope someday we will be reunited.

I love the Divine Liturgy. It's like a Divine Opera. God bless, Orthodox Brothers. ;-) God bless.

  • We have seen the True Light, we have received the Heavenly Spirit, and we worship the Undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us!

  • god bless romania!

  • I am coptic orthodox and I hope we become all united together

  • @minaatef11 , There is nothing we need from Rome brother .

  • God bless all Orthodoxs all over the world.

    GREΕCE

Ο Θεός να ευλογεί όλους τους Ορθοδόξους σε όλο τον κόσμο.

    ΕΛΛΑΣ

  • I can smell the incense just looking at this.

  • Esta es la verdadera Esposa de Cristo.. =)

  • Oh that the Church would be one. Catholic, Orthodox, and even us rebelling Protestants. Hope in redemption compels me to believe in an ecumenial spirit among us all. Thanks for uploading this.

  • @thebigchucker THERE IS NO ECUMENICAL SPIRIT, save a fallen spirit and that is nothing to celebrate. THERE IS ONE HOLY SPIRIT IN HIS CHURCH, THE ORTHODOX CHURCH WHICH THE SECOND ECUMENICAL CLEARLY STATES PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER ALONE. PERIOD.

  • The video is good, but you should have filmed the believers too.

  • Kristos Voskrese!

  • May God bless my Russian brothers and sisters and all orthodox Christians in the world. greetings from Bulgaria

  • I noticed no one mentioned that the choir singing the responses is actually our junior or "family choir" made up of our children and their parents.

  • Our Cathedral has Resurrection Matins w/ Procession at midnight. then does not have Divine Liturgy until the following morning on Pascha morning. Many Orthodox Churches in Northeastern Pennsylvania and Western Pennsylvania have it that way. I suppose one of the reasons is because of the many elderly parishoners, or maybe that more people will attend if it's during the day.

  • What time of day is it? In my church we have pascha liturgy during the night.

  • Yeah, this is a russian orthodox church. mine is too.

  • Softologist, I am not sure what you mean by the comment, "it's not Russian Orthodox". St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral is part of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) and the typicon used is from the Russian Orthodox tradition. The only thing that is not Russian Orthodox is the language. On this particular Pascha the anaphora was sung and chanted in English. We switch back and forth between Slavonic and English.

  • it's not Russian Orthodox

  • I am a Latin Church Catholic. I hope that the East and West can be fully united soon.

  • This is one of the most sacred parts during the Divine Liturgy where the bread and wine are transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ by the Holy Spirit. So glad this was done in English! Thanks for posting Great vid!!

  • I find myself arguing for the orthodox church, in theological debates with my friends, even though I'm not orthodox, should I become orthodox ( I always seem to win when I defend orthodoxy, but rarely when I defend the baptists, it's like the orthodox are the true christian church).

  • Become Orthodox!

  • I love the Eastern Rite mass, my wife and I occasionally attend as she is Russian Orthodox (I'm Catholic orthodox and she's catholic Orthodox :-). The "smells and the bells" like they should be!

  • I'm russian Orthodox and this is wonderful. Thank you!

  • This is really neat to see. Why do y'all kiss the table all the time? Just wondered.

    The singing is just beautiful.

  • The Holy Table is one of the holiest things in an Orthodox Church. It is like the altar on which the sacrifice of Christ's body and blood is made.

When consecrated, a Holy Table is anointed with oil, it is washed in wine (Christ's consecrated blood) and contains a small piece of a Saint's relics.

So, it is a very holy place and is done out of immense respect for what the Table is and what it represents. :)

  • I am Latin Rite Roman Catholic and this is a beautiful liturgy!! I hope one day we can all be united again :)

  • I too was a Latin (Tridentine) Rite Roman Catholic but now this Holy Pascha I have converted to the right believing church, the Eastern Orthodox Church where I can see a greater continuum of spirituality that I never knew in the RC church. I too wish for reuniting but I can tell you that most Orthodox Christians will not, and never will accept the Pope's authority nor infalibility. Just a comment, not trying to be too political.

  • @Theliturgist The sin of pride blinds their understanding. Christ commissioned His apostles (bishops) but only to one of them did he confer the duty of leading the others in the right faith, Saint Peter, Bishop of Rome, first Pope of the Universal Church.

  • @1Thorefan You mean the Peter who had to twice be rebuked by Paul for dealing unfaithfully with the Gentiles he was supposed to be shepherding?

I am a former Roman Catholic (later Baptist then Presbyterian, now Orthodox - it was not an easy process nor one taken lightly, but was the result of lots of reading, praying, and experiencing the Lord in Community in ways I never did before).

St. Peter died before St. John, so how would it be possible that a presbyter would outrank and apostle?

  • @StopMoColorado Yes, I mean him. Surely you won't believe that Christ came to call the just, He came to call sinners. Saint Peter was no exception. Indeed, he was the one chosen from among the college of apostles to confirm in the faith those who would follow...Christ said it, I believe it, that is sufficient for me.

  • @CDOG111 Yes this is similar to the latin mass! beautiful!

  • @CDOG111 This would be the best thing to happen. My mom is Roman Cath. I'm Russian Orth. as is my dad. I would love for all of us to attend mass as a family.

  • @CDOG111 That would be great, but to be united in Christ, and not just as a matter of political convenience, we have to have the same faith. And RC faith has deviated from what we believe. We cannot accept filioque, immaculate conception of the Theotokos, infallibility of the Pope and a number of other RC dogmas. Neither do we accept obligatory celibacy of priests and lots of other things. I have great respect for Catholics, but our differences are too deep.

  • @koshka435 : Not so deep. I advise you to reexamine filioque and what it means in RC theology. We believe that the procession of the Holy spirit is primarily rooted in the father, but that it goes through the son. St. Basil and St. Hilary of Poiters said this. I think the problem is that the pope issued these doctrines without a council. Toes were metaphorically stepped on. As an RC i accept the pope, and i see the need for a chain of command. I hope we reunite soon. orthodoxy is awesome

  • @mandaloreJCL Thanks for your comment. I read quite a lot about filioque and have the impression that this is not just a question of 'toes stepped on', it is much deeper. This is not the only doctrinal difference. Not enough place here to mention the others. There is also a very deep difference between Roman Catholic and Orthodox monasticism, a different approach to prayer and to lots of other things. When I visit a Catholic church I fell right away that this is an alien place for me.

  • @koshka435 your answer is the same as everyone else's but no real answer. What is theologicaly wrong with it. As for feeling alien, its a different expression of the same truth. We simply prefer a more solemn approach.

  • @mandaloreJCL Why isn't my answer real? It is impossible to give an exhaustive description of the differences between the Roman and Orthodox faiths in 500 characters. This space is just enough to say that there is a world of difference between Roman Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity. Vatican should simply let us be and stop trying to gobble up our Church. Let's be different! I greatly respect Catholics, but I don't want to be one of them.

  • @koshka435 we are not trying to Latinize your faith. We don't want to. (In the past popes have issued orders against latinizing the eastern churches) Keep it the way it is. It's beautiful, i and the pope even, say that. We simply need to be one and not divided. I believe that that's what our Divine Lord said. Let them be one as you and i are one. If im in an area where this isn't an RC church in the area, i still need the sacraments. If we were in communion then i'd go to a Orthodox church.

  • @koshka435 It's about us being one people of God. Keep the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom and St. Basil. They're great. Make them open to RC's and we'll make our liturgy open to those who may need it, in case an orthodox is in the area lacking a orthodox church. We made it accessible to yall in that case but we need to be one. Why divide the mystical body of Christ? God bless, keep the faith and hope for reunion.

  • @mandaloreJCL THE POINT IS THE SECOND ECUMENICAL COUNCIL ANATHEMIZES ANY AND ALL ADDITIONS TO THE CREED AND THE SEVENTH ANATHEMIZES ALL INNOVATIONS AND THE WEST ACCEPTED BOTH! FILIOQUE IS A HERETICAL DIARCHICAL TRIADOLOGY TANTAMOUNT TO BLASPHEMY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! BY THE VINCENTIAN CANON IT IS CONDEMNED AS A TEACHING WHICH IS NOT CATHOLIC AND IS A BLASPHEMY ACCORDING TO THE CANONS YOUR PAPIST ASSEMBLY ACCEPTS! NOW REPENT, REMOVE IT AND CONFESS THE ONE ORTHODOX CATHOLIC FAITH!

  • @jasonbently2002 : quit spouting off propaganda and tell me what exactly about filioque is heretical. according to Sacred Scripture, the Son sends the Holy Ghost (Luke 24:49; John 15:26; 16:7; 20:22; Acts 2:33; Titus 3:6), just as the Father sends the Son (Romans 3:3; etc.), and as the Father sends the Holy Ghost (John 14:26).

  • @mandaloreJCL Why do Catholics ALWAYS go on Orthodox forums, or Orthodox videos and spout off YOUR theology? We don't care! We know more about your theology than you probably do! In my area, most of the converts to Orthodoxy are former Roman Catholics. You're not going to convert anyone. All it does is show that the Catholic Church still thinks it should swallow up the whole world with its medieval theology. When the theology is set and stuck in a particular time, it's obviously not of God.

  • @hamartolos1 maybe because we are trying to follow our Lord's will. Did he not say "let them be one father as you and i are one." you orthodox should be striving for the same unity as well.

  • @jasonbently2002 "The Holy Spirit also, when He proceeds from the Father and the Son, is not separated from the Father nor separated from the Son. For how could He be separated from the Father Who is the Spirit of His mouth? Which is certainly both a proof of His eternity, and expresses the Unity of this Godhead." Ambrose, The Holy Spirit, 1:11:120 (A.D. 381).

  • @CDOG111 My friend if the priest stop thinking all the time about the bigest satan on earth and that is money then you see how easy to became all together cause orthodox catholic etc they believe in one God the only seperate them is the money this is my opinion and jesus christ he fight for this some people make us to believe this paper (money) like the bigest God in the world and do everything for this

  • @vasilis452 If only that were true. *sigh* Catholics and Orthodox are so much alike. But there are differences of opinion on authority, theology, and practise that separate us from them. The Orthodox will not submit unto the authority of the Pope, for instance, instead believing he should be "the first among equals". They believe the Holy Spirit only proceeds from the Father, not from the Son. They also seem to reject that all can know about God through reason.

  • @GenghisKhan44 [They also seem to reject that all can know about God through reason.] Yes, they believe in what we call 'Theoria' where one experiences God not through reason but through one's experience as a Christian. We believe in 'Scholasticism' where God is known and proven through reason. This method is highly used by St. Thomas Aquinas.

  • @CDOG111 We sure can! RETURN TO THE ORTHODOX CATHOLIC CHURCH and turn away from your heresies and blasphemies and we will welcome you all with open arms.

  • i like the bowing. i've never seen a Russian Orthodox service, thank you. it's nice and refreshing to see how Christians around the world worship and pray.

  • Always nitpickers with 'permission" for this and that! Do you realize that the priest has eyes and can see someone filming that close - so obviously permitted it. Also, the good that is done by showing these holy prayers at the Anaphora helps westerners to experience in a small way that holiness of the Apostles' Divine Eucharist.

  • So very nice, thank you ! 5/5

  • What is the differance between this same liturgy in the Coptic Church or in the Greek Orthodox Church?

  • Probably the language, other than that, I don't know. Sorry.

  • You had a blessing from the priest to take this video and post it on youtube?

  • Это где служат то???СШа чтолева...все сидят там стоячие где

  • Being a woman and not able to go into the altar, it's great to see the 'high' part of the Liturgy from this perspective. Very nice, thanks.

  • If you get a chance there is a dvd of Christ the Saviour in Moscow at its conscration. They show the actives at the altar. I have not seen it on youtube. There is also the Sunday of Forgiveness done the same. This the first time i have heard the RO rite in English. Wish they posted full liturgy of Pascha.

  • I newer hear liturgy on english, only on russian, thank you
