This book changed me dramatically. I was so ignorant and blind to the whole issue of female genital mutilation: I had NO idea. And now I cannot bear the understanding that this is still happening to girls. Waris highlights something that is so necessary: the plight of the african female. Say what you like, her story has opened my eyes and that is just what is needed to change this world. I cannot wait to see this movie.
