@Trainsforlife286 Ok, Thats Your Opinion. Lionel, Does NOT have a real Live steam engine. All they have are a bunch of Smoke units everywhere. Altho Vision line Does look nice, A challenger is about $800 Bucks, This is 200 Dollars cheaper. And its real life steam....I would take this
@CGiordano464 yes it is just excess steam like boiling the kettel i et wher your coming from youre asking if there is any sut effect in simplicity no ts steam thats from the cylinders yes not and fire smoke coz it uses electric to heat it up its like a ketel as i said the kettel gets heated by the electric from the filament inside as does the live steam train then after boiled it produces steam whic inturn is red hot and is opend throughth a valve and goes to the pistons then the chimney thx
A 13xx wouldnt be that hard to do,it would have to have a fixed van behind it for the pre heater,Two things I dont like about the Hornby steam is 1 its very difficult to get the whistle to blow when moving or stationaary it is between full forward and reverse,2 those ultra bright red/green bulds in the cab,why use bulbs not LEDS?poss temp, how long will it be before one blows due to age/vibration,cheapskates,If I designed it I would have working headlights + rear red lights for direction
A glowing firebox and a a small steam valve underneath to simulate open cylinder drains when it moves off that shuts when speed is picked up,so you would have steam wafting around the vlave gear, would make it much more realistic!I would put stops on that steam valve so you have Neutral, full forwards, stop and neutral full reverse, stop, none of this forever going round and round valve
@cubeproduktion Who implied rage and swearing? I merely stated that they are very difficult to control.Practice and a four or five carriages behind helps also the larger the layout with the largest radius curves makes for a far more controllable loco.As for the mess it's easier to have separate lines for DC/DCC and live steam.Hornby could have made a better job of the controller and the loco control valve though, the current setup is too imprecise, stops on the valve would help.
how do you make it whistle?

It really is too bad that they discontinued the range. Now I'll never own one. And living in Minnesota doesn't help either.

I wish I could afford one of those!
Also, does anyone know the name of the song in the Background, or was it composed just for this advertisement?

they forget they are a bastard to control and they spray your layout with water and oil!!
silver760 4 years ago
they dont spray water and oil everywhere. it drips tiny bits of water when in goes
indianpacific1 3 years ago
that will weather your layout for you!!!
SticklebackDepot 3 years ago
@silver760 you can simply clean your track and you need skill, not rage and swear at the controller, that does nothing but make people look dumb :/
