It is sad that so many people believe that Mormons are Christians, I don't think I would be to far off saying that Mormonism is one of the devils spins on Christianity.
I'm definitely not Mormon, but you have to admit that they are Christians. The word "Christian" means Christ follower and since Mormons profess faith in Jesus, they're Christians. it's that simple. There interpretation is radically different, but the definition of "Christian" is simplistic enough to encompass a wide spectrum of different beliefs.

Much in the same way, I love Mormons, and even love many of the principles for which Mormons stand for, but I strongly disapprove of the beliefs that are manipulative (public shaming when you can't take the sacrament), psychologically damaging (telling a gay person they need to deal with themselves as a "problem" etc) or simply outdated (global flood etc).
@iamanexmormon My best friend was gay..He served a mission in Switzerland..came out after he got home. He passed away a few years ago..Too young. As far as the sacrament..I haven't taken it for years until a couple weeks ago...I came to the conclusion that God luvs me and those ppl can go FUCK thmselves..(Only word that expresses my feelings,sorry) I was an ex-mormon for a period...the only way I would partake of the sacrament is if I met the requirements. I'm sorry that in leaving Mormonism, you also left Jesus. I believe that there are people out there who for no reason whatsoever and without any kind of control are physically, sexually, and emotionally attracted to people of the same gender. You are no more straight than other people are gay because of your choices. Maybe some choices in your life have kept you more straight, but for the majority that is just who you have a romantic desire to be with. It is more than just about sex for the majority of people.

However, to state simply that by forcing yourself to have gay sex eventually you will like it is an hasty generalization in an attempt to simplify life. Many gay people make the decision that they are gay after having sex multiple times with the opposite sex and never once with the same sex. They have thereby never been in a gay relationship when they decide that they are gay. Some people choose and they are called bisexuals.

I know when I left that church I pretty much turned away from God completely for many years. I eventually started to believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ and would never fault anyone for living with doubts. Plenty of people who don't believe in any god live full of love and happiness. People who don't love themselves can't fully love others. You shouldn't be a narcissist, but being able to be comfortable and honest with yourself surely isn't a bad thing, and helps create a more loving and compassionate environment in general. Just because atheists don't believe in God and can have a coldly logical take on what love is doesn't mean that they see no meaning in anything. I'm a convert to the LDS church and what people need to understand is that the Mormon church offers more spiritually for gays than any other church. We have the fulness of the gospel. It will bring you closer to Jesus Christ and the Bible than any other church.

Since there is no God, there is no moral code. Without a moral code, there is no moral constraints so you can justify being gay or lesbian, specially because there would be no creation of man or woman. I infer that in the case of this particular young lady, the environment and teachings of the church may have contributed to her being gay. By studying it's language linguists have been able to determine that it was been written and written, edited and re-edited over and over again. As far as the sacrament..I haven't taken it for years until a couple weeks ago...I came to the conclusion that God luvs me and those ppl can go FUCK thmselves..(Only word that expresses my feelings,sorry) I was an ex-mormon for a period...the only way I would partake of the sacrament is if I met the requirements. I believe that there are people out there who for no reason whatsoever and without any kind of control are physically, sexually, and emotionally attracted to people of the same gender. It's a factor that CAN lead people to homosexual activity later in life. Without that abuse they would never have exhibited or explored homosexual tendancies. @TopherBlairMusic You don't need God to love or to be loved. Belittling one's ability to love for not believing in your god is ridiculous. Plenty of people who don't believe in any god live full of love and happiness. People who don't love themselves can't fully love others. You shouldn't be a narcissist, but being able to be comfortable and honest with yourself surely isn't a bad thing, and helps create a more loving and compassionate environment in general. It's really not that complicated.

Just because atheists don't believe in God and can have a coldly logical take on what love is doesn't mean that they see no meaning in anything. We still allow ourselves to have feelings and not necessarily get lost in the logic of everything. The only difference is that we don't have to worry about living our lives purely for the approval of someone who should already love us the way we are.

I was abused also BUT i DID forgive, and I believe that it because I forgave that I was able to live life with peace in my heart. Since there is no God, there is no moral code. Without a moral code, there is no moral constraints so you can justify being gay or lesbian, specially because there would be no creation of man or woman. There aren't any physiological nor emotional roles. That's a sad conclusion when all she needed was counseling. She was the victim not the perpetrator. If you ask any reputable psychologist and he/she will say Emily suffers a problem of identity result of her traumatic experience, not the Church.

@robertbright777 Well, the mormon church repress one's sexuality as a whole and molds it into what they believe is correct. I infer that in the case of this particular young lady, the environment and teachings of the church may have contributed to her being gay. It could also be that she is angry at the church just like the many other innocent homosexuals that faced constant ridicule (and still do) from the LDS church, which is why they seem to be a vocal majority.

It confuses me that people who have a hard time believing that gay people are not choosing to be gay often DON't have a hard time believing a) in the existence of God or b) that such a being writes BOOKS. Isn't some variety in natural sexuality of human beings easier to wrap your head around than either of those other notions?

The scriptures, as I pointed out, did NOT come from any god. In fact, there is absolutely nothing supernatural about the Bible at all. Its origin is not some great mystery. By studying it's language linguists have been able to determine that it was been written and written, edited and re-edited over and over again. The ancient Hebrews were pagans and in their world, in the beginning, there is no mention of the one-god you worship.
