my g550 is about 2-3 years old. I need to a buy a new hard drive. The new hard drive has a SATA connection, and I dont remember what kind of connection mine has right now... does it matter?

Awesome vid...I bought a Dell Inspiron 1720 from a lady at work, she was going to take a bat to it because she had a bad experience with the three Hard drives dying on her. So I told her I would give her 75 dollars for it and she took my offer, I ended up putting a 500 GB Hard drive and a 350 GB on the second HD Bay and upgrading to 4GB of RAM and it has been running Windows 7 Ultimate for a year without a problem.... What Video Editing Software are you using?
@mipd1980 well I use AVS. It is usually over my price range, but they had a special where it was 59.99 for a license that gives you access to every software they have! Like audio recording and editing, screen capture, and a lot more. Then I got a 20 percent of code and only paid 39.99 for the ultimate license! It has been good to me since like Decemberish 2010 and I have been loving it since then. They updated it a few days ago and now it takes less than an hour to render a video!
@wwdroidfreak yeah, I am impressed with simple things like the fact that 17 minutes got shrunken down to a little tiny bit over 5 minutes. I didn't get to shave as much compared to the video on the cotton candy theme because several minutes were spent applying update.zips and rebooting. So I got to shave off a LOT. I gotta go to work now, cee ya!
Cool, I'm getting a new laptop and I want to transfer some software programs like sony vegas over from my old laptop, and I wanted to know if that was even possible.
@TheMajinVegeta1 if you CLONE the hard drive it would be possible. BUT windows would hate you! lol. the drivers wouldn't match and it would be a headache. So you would have to contact sony and get another key
@TheMajinVegeta1 YEAH. Of course. I just bought a 5 dollar SATA to USB bridge and did it that way. Or while your still in Windows on the old hard drive, you can transfer stuff to a flash drive. If windows is totally screwed, I would look into PUPPY LINUX. it's a little distro that will let you boot a computer with a bad or dead hard drive (or without a hard drive completely) and copy files or check email and etc.

@ItsQuagmire1 pretty much everything since like 06 or 07 is not sata... nothing uses the older (slower) IDE connections.
