for those who know very little about russia and georgia history must realize that when you are small like georgia or big like ukraine no matter what when you deal with russian or negotiate there is no such thing. you either do what they say or they will destroy you. this is what they do. they dont bargain. negotiate or talk they straight shoot. when you are small and defenceless like georgia you choose to either side with criminal sociaty like russia or west hm which one would you go with ?
Americans armed Georgia to the Teeth and encouraged Saakashvili to break the 1992 agreement and invade the semi-independent regions of Abkhazia and S.Ossetia.
Of course any hope for the states of Ossetia and Abkhazia to be included in Georgia is lost now for Georgians because of Saakashvili.
It is sad when people die and so much hatred is born because of one pro-western maniac.
@Mavlik yisten it was our terriory and no country recoginzed thier indpendence before the war so shut a fuck up do you even know what georgian and ossetian people went through those days because of you russian swines
is part of a chest game kipping the russia irritated and busying with her former states .,maybe the russia need to evolve and start doing , playing same game by supporting a state or a group inside America to make her busy .,just like Iran doing in Iraq ,the russian need to think in a globale view and confront the american challenge.
good thing too, if there is a god, its not the one mentioned in any of the holy books. so its either people worship no god or people worship no existing god. the only difference is, that the ones that worship no god waste no time on pointless prayers.
People How come you are not mad of these amounts of produced weapons? USA, Russia, with Europe!!! Enough IS Enough! DEvelop planet MARS and test your toys over there! CoMe on, STOP tHe WAR
Democracy is another loaded word. Ya like the democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan. Developing-Democratic nations are turning into a water down version of US puppets. No more good guys vs bad guys like we had in the Cold War days!
UK Telegraph: Mar 2002 PRESIDENT Putin has welcomed the dispatch of American troops to Georgia.
The arrival of American military advisers to counter suspected Islamic extremists in the former Soviet republic to Russia's south would be "no tragedy", he said
Citing the precedent of former Soviet republics in Central Asia, already home to a sizeable Nato presence, Mr Putin said Georgia too could host American troops
Alarmed that Georgia's lawless Pankisi Gorge is turning into a sanctuary for Islamic fighters drawn to the Taliban or al-Qa'eda, America has offered to train commandos to reassert Georgia's control of the valley. Russia too has expressed concern that the gorge is a refuge for guerrillas fighting its forces in Chechnya
Russians are terrorists. Chinese are terrorists. Iran, N.Korea, Iraq.....etc etc are terrorists. Everybody and anybody not on their knees to America gets the "label". Pres Bush calls this war inappropriate...condemned by the UN. Oh, wait a minute...didn't America just lied to the world and it's own country before invading Iraq, a move that was condemned by the UN and other countries including the US. Huh....US is a hypocrite. US rapes all countries. Bastards.
What's happening in the Middle East with people and resources (oil, water)? The place is awash in blood. Who is causing this? Iran? Afghanistan? Pakistan? Russia? China? N. Korea? Indonesia? Malaysia? Rogue Easter Islander's? Whose troops are putting the above peoples in their crosshairs and squeezing their triggers? What nation(s) spends the most on weapons? Who has over 750 military bases spread strategically around the globe? What troops are occupying American or European soil?
Let International investigators in you Russians!!! Why refuse every time? Ossetia, Abhazia, are both Part of Georgia! The world refused to recognize these regions, so now you orchestrate another war in the caucuses! Georgia was close to NATO membership, so you attack! This was a planned Invasion by the Russians! Monsters! The Russians have been blocking the attempts to Internationalize the conflict settlement for years! As they put it, it's out of the question. They have everything to hide!
Georgia specifically attacked the South Ossetia a day beginning Olympic Games, in order to discredit Russia before the world public! The plan, developed the NATO specialists has not yielded the desired result, conversely aggravated the situation in the region!
same source: "The stakes involved with the current conflict are identical to those of the previous war: control over the oil of the Caspian Sea/Black Sea/Caucasus basin, and the control of multiple key oil pipelines criss-crossing the region, including the Baku-Supsa and Baku-Ceyhan-Tblisi routes through Georgia[...]
"The war in the Georgian province of South Ossetia is a classic superpower proxy war, pitting an aggressively US-backed regime, a member of NATO's regional GUUAM (Georgia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldava) military alliance, against Russia. It is being waged over control of the Caspian Sea, the region in which the third largest oil reserves can be found. The control over this region holds one of the most important keys to world power.
"The most critical pipeline, the infamous Baku-Ceyhan pipeline supported by the US government and a consortium of US-allied transnational oil interests (including Royal Dutch Shell, Unocal, and BP) takes oil from the Caspian Sea across Azerbaijan (another US-supported regime), whereby it crosses Georgia (bypassing Iran and Russia), then on to the Black Sea, where the oil is carried to Western Europe, and the rest of the world."
The Baku=Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline does not go to the Black Sea. It terminates at Ceyhan, Turkey which is on the Mediterranean. It doesn't "bypass Russia" because Russian territory does not lie along this route.
GUUAM has lost one member this is Uzbekistan, now this is organization called GUAM. Uzbekistan integrated into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization SCO. South Ossetia is located far from the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline, and all theories about what Russia wants to control the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline - is a lie of american Media. In Yugoslavia, in Iraq, Afghanistan and South Ossetia - America refuses their sins...
Russia fostered and engaged these conflicts! They created them. They cut off these regions from Georgia for 15 year now, they are 100% economically dependent on Russia! At the same time Russia has been beating Georgia over the head with a hammer for the last 15 years! Why would these regions want unification with Georgia if Russian politics are so anti Georgian, and pro separatists. Ossetians they are hostages in Russian hands, yes! But the ossetians and the Abhaz are not stupid!
Just remember. If the Russians succeed in truly lighting a fire under peoples' asses (re: separatist ideology) then it will come back to haunt them, major.
Somewhat sober analysis, but i agree, Saakashvili would have never attacked South Osetia without an approval from Bush adiministration. That is what puppet goverments are there for in the first place.
in this issue of Georgia and Russian conflicts Q: why is the US so concern about the welfare and demoracy of the Georgians??? the attention Given somewhat rung similarly hollow to that given to the Iraqi people!!!!
Sawyer's analysis is fairly mature; however, he is dead wrong about S.Ossetian initial invasion. It MUST have been under US orders, BECAUSE is was accompanied by "advisor-trainers". The Georgian situation HAD to be resolved & Russia pushed back for Iran attack to take place! Now, Russia is defending the Caspian alliance and nixing US & Israeli plans to attack Iran. THIS IS VERY GOOD FOR WORLD PEACE!
Bush administration plans may come down to this - portray Russia as another Serbia, isolate the country, and equate Putin and/or Medvedev with Milosevic and hope for all the political advantage it can gain. "The war on Southern Ossetia," according to Chossudovsky, "was not meant to be won, leading to the restoration of Georgian sovereignty over (the province). It was intended to destabilize the region while triggering a US-NATO confrontation with Russia."
You're wrong. The US will never be able to isolate Russia as quickly as it did to Serbia/Milosevic. Russia is much too powerful economically at the moment. Actually the US is very powerless, so it resorts to PR threats and hope to God it has an effect. Abkhazia and S. Ossetia are not worth starting a war over. For now the US will push for a cease fire and arm Georgia to the teeth, and maybe, maybe, push Nato to allow Georgia in.
Please note, my comment is not an assertion but more of a suggestion. Please note the use of the word "may". Your sentence would be better to start of by saying, "your suggestion may be wrong" ...for the reasons you put to me. This whole conflict has already brought forward a lot of conjecture.

No. it is economics, economics, economics. To let anyone let on to anything else is deception.
