for those who know very little about russia and georgia history must realize that when you are small like georgia or big like ukraine no matter what when you deal with russian or negotiate there is no such thing. you either do what they say or they will destroy you. this is what they do. they dont bargain. negotiate or talk they straight shoot. when you are small and defenceless like georgia you choose to either side with criminal sociaty like russia or west hm which one would you go with ?

The Baku=Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline does not go to the Black Sea. It terminates at Ceyhan, Turkey which is on the Mediterranean. It doesn't "bypass Russia" because Russian territory does not lie along this route.

Sawyer's analysis is fairly mature; however, he is dead wrong about S.Ossetian initial invasion. It MUST have been under US orders, BECAUSE is was accompanied by "advisor-trainers". The Georgian situation HAD to be resolved & Russia pushed back for Iran attack to take place! Now, Russia is defending the Caspian alliance and nixing US & Israeli plans to attack Iran. THIS IS VERY GOOD FOR WORLD PEACE!

You're wrong. The US will never be able to isolate Russia as quickly as it did to Serbia/Milosevic. Russia is much too powerful economically at the moment. Actually the US is very powerless, so it resorts to PR threats and hope to God it has an effect. Abkhazia and S. Ossetia are not worth starting a war over. For now the US will push for a cease fire and arm Georgia to the teeth, and maybe, maybe, push Nato to allow Georgia in.
