I love to hear Scarlett singing. I find her voice very special and as beautiful as she is. Special kinda folk sound. Of course the sound of this clip is not perfect nor the singing is. This is a rough recording and certainly not the final mix. The final mix - with backing vocals of David Bowie - is one of my most favorite songs. I hope Scarlett won't listen to the bad critics and make another album! I love all the songs!

I actually like this. Any Tom Waits cover calls for an unconventional voice and Scarlett delivers. At least she's doing something different. Every other actress just does lots of dancey pop with no substance (which is not to say that all dancey pop has no substance, just most of it.) It seems it's just the thing to do if a young actress wants to further her career. Scarlett's pretty obviously in it because she loves the music, not because she thinks she's supposed to.
