you have to use someone elses eyes in that case. it's difficult doing this with asian people's eyes, because the lighting of most photos of asian people does not bring out the details in their eyes. copy paste someone elses eyes then airbrush them in so it looks natural.

I like just coloring in the eye with whatever i want and setting the layer to soft seems a bit more natural less steps....both ways are really good though

Since black is such a dark color, it will be very hard, if not impossible to change the eye color.. :-/

What was your problem with merging the layers together? I know that when you merge your green colored and brown colored layers, they'll loose their blending modes, and you will have to switch the new merged layer back to "color" rather than "normal"
