  • I never liked the depiction of Octavian in this movie; there isn't really any attempt to capture his brilliance and far-sightedness. Certainly a far greater man than Mark Anthony, who he totally outmanouvered, and he created a far greater legacy than Caesar.

  • Beautiful Liz Taylor

  • they kiss akwardly

  • hey it's Archie Bunker! LOL!

  • Roddy McDowell has the most amazing voice for classic films.

  • MOSTLY NOT NOTICE OR REALIZED. The scene were Cicero and M. Anthony spare verbally in jest about Cicero's "tonque waggling", possibly costing Cicero his life proved true. Anthony had Cicero killed in 43 B.C. when Cicero attacted Anthony in speeches. Most viewers don't pick this up or the irony of these remarks. Cicero's speeches against Anthony are known as the "Philppics", an anology of Demosthenes orations against Philip II of Macedonia.

  • I am surprised she didn't get pregnant again when she went to Rome

  • @annemolly57 Actually historically speaking she did. She was pregnant again when Ceasar was murdered. She returned to Egypt and later miscarried the child.

  • richard burton has a horrendously small part in this, he should be ceaser

  • @Asskicker32294 And therefore it won four Academy Awards (Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Visual Effects and was nominated for five more (Best Picture, Best Actor (Rex Harrison), Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Sound Mixing)

And Therefore Cleopatra was the highest grossing film of 1963, earning US $48 million ($61,8 million total) as of the most successful film studio of all time....

  • the way he said i have a son was so funny

  • i dont think caesar ever acknowlegded caesarion as his legitimate son. his only legitimate child was julia.

  • Roddy McDowall is fantastic - and beautiful - in this film.

  • does putting the copyright infringement thing in the beginning of the video and on the description stop copyright from removing your videos??

  • lol, was one of those senators archie bunker??

  • @sbranco12

    bwahaha

  • 2:08 that is Augustus Emperor of the Roman Empire and the first Emperor of the Roman Empire successor to Gauis Julius Caesar

  • I was never eally a fan of Octavian, yet I've a minimum respect for the guy for the good things he did.

  • that would b a good looking baby

  • what if the baby had been a daughter? =P

that would suck, but Caesar may not have been killed then

  • @ToriiiaaaX cleopatra put in it in his head to demand to be a so called "king" of rome

  • Worth every penny they spent on it!

  • Joaquin Phoenix is like a modern Richard Burton doppelganger. Whenever I see Richard on screen Joaquin comes to mind. And both men are exceptionally skilled at their acting craft. But I must admit that black and white photos of Joaquin are quite sultry and satisfying. So are Richards B&W photos.

  • Why can't they make movies like this

  • @lilly032 Ikr! Movies now are not very good, are ridiculous, and some haven't been made on a great deal of historical figures, events, and really good books much.

  • this has the most brilliant dialogue for sure

  • "youll turn cascus' head with that flattery. and cascus' head, if turned, will see mark anthony"

i dont know who did the dialogue but it is brilliant

  • Archie Bunker as a Roman Senator at 10:05!!!!

  • poor baby... :)

  • It's possible that Octavian died without ever being alive. He even got sea sick.

  • cesearion is soo adorable

  • Octavian (Roddy McDowell) is absolutely spineless

  • Love when Marc Antony tells Octavian

It's quite possible that when you die you will have never lived.

  • What was that exchange all about?

  • bahaha. "I have a son! I have a son!" Rex Harrison is such a great actor, of course, there he reminds me of Henry Higgins...

  • 4:26

time wont give me time and time makes lovers feel

  • A ruling Sovereign would never have entered Rome. The pomerium was the sacred boundary that could not be crossed.

  • ceaser salad............. mmmmm.....

  • 8:35

"the free will of free men so fearlessly expressed"

    another great line

  • I love Rex Harrison @ 4:38- so gentle-

" not only the time but the tide"...indeed

  • The baby is treated like a trophy and a "Mini Me" by its father.

  • In reality that never happened. Caesar didn't bring cleopatra with him to Rome and he almost never spent any time with Caeserion.

  • @bigbossman999 where did u get that info? nd is any proof of wat u said therefore the movie would b a bs

  • @bigbossman999 Caesar kept Cleopatra and Caesarion in his residence outside the city. Being a senator, he had little time to see them and of course the Roman people hated Cleo and what she represented.

  • @Tsubahi that is how it was done in ancient times

  • GOD what an exit by Caesar.... absolutely amazing

  • 0:49

    Holy gesticulating Ceres!

Archie Bunker was a Roman Senator!!!!

  • Wow this movie is amazing

  • Jurassicparkz08 - I absolutely agree. It still endures over 40 years later. :)
