One thing that seperates Dimebag from a lot of famous guitar players is that he treats people like they are friends. Not many metal guitarists do videos like this.
@hetfield2x4 Your right, it is the original Whammy. I have a Whammy 2 thats red also, but doesnt have that sticker his has on it. Never seen a black one...
@diabolicD1 there weren't red Whammy 2's, only black as far as I know (and they're kind of rare). You may have the Whammy 4, which is the one thats currently available.
@Dimebonics83 on our Far right ? or his ? on his far right is Wammy, on our far right its his Noise Pedal: /watch?v=1GxTHNtn39E you can hear that guy on some stuff on the Damageplan album like in "Pride" and "Crawl"
@ChaosTheoryTHESHRED Man this is The Washburn Stealth, his favourite model in the last years of Pantera and first times of Damageplan before switching to the false crappy Dean$.
@sony040 From what I cant hear instead of bending up on the 12th fret on the B and hitting 12 on E, he goes up to fifteen on E while having 12th bent up to the 14th fret on the B. All of this is in assumption that you can play guitar.
@Bookstop1337 he doesn't use a distortion pedal, he's always used the distortion and reverb from the Randall/ Krankenstein amp; the ZW overdrive is for sustain and clarity ("dimed" to 12, obviously). Dime also used a Digitech Whammy, a prototype octave whammy from Digitech, wah pedals from both Dunlop and Digitech as well as Dean or Washburn guitars.
@Bookstop1337 the Randall or signature Krankenstein amps he used in his career had enough onboard distortion for him to use. The Dime Distortion pedal is an emulator of his sound for those of us who don't have Randall or Krank amps to abuse. Dime also followed Eddie Van Halen's approach to volume (all the way baby) and also used Eddie's MXR Flanger model to beef up his sound. Lower tunings also helped somewhat- Rex Brown in Pantera also made Dime sound harder, backing him up with killer bass.
@Bookstop1337 Guitar World Magazine had a review of the Krankenstein and the Dime Distortion a while back, I can't recall the issues. A video review is on the CD-ROM accompanying the magazine- or just look for it here on U Toob!
@MetalyourMom well, he drove the amp really hard; his sound engineer makes sure it doesn't overpower the rest of the band. He plays at full volume to make it distort as much as possible; his overdrive is to control just how much. Full volume usually kills sustain, which is why Dime used the MXR pedals and the trademark Krankenstein amps. Not sure if he had a Randall sig though.
@Bookstop1337 man... no marshall onboard distortion can match dimebag sound. you SHOULD know that. If you want to play loud and heavy, you need more gain . Marshall does not have enough in any amps!
@MasterGodfather97 Yeah man my bad- Iommi was the huge riffs thats for sure, but gary moore is one of the earliest rippers out there, and especially so bluesy, just makes him stand right out!
oh shit ,my bad, that pedal on the end that is a blackish grey is not a volume pedal. its a wha wha-octavea pedal its a proto from dunlop. i suppose only a few people have it because I cant find it on the net for sale.
Idk I suppose its personal preference too. I have both a crybaby and whammy pedal but I do put the Whammy first in the pedal chain then the crybaby and other pedals. to me it makes less noise it might not be the same for u though, all rigs are diff.
on his pedal board he has no compressor but hes using a rack compressor and a rack EQ. are u talking about his volume pedal or his wha being in a weird position? and the whammy is the first thing on the board just because if u put it at the beginning of the chain thats how u can reduce the most noise. even on the little whammy manual it asks u put it first to reduce hum and noise
take a look at his pedalboard...there's no compressor and the wah wah pedal is in a unusual position....he put the whammy digitech first of all.....could someone explain me these settings?! :/
@microsoftsucksass not only that. i've never met him, but he seemed like a down to earth kinda guy.. he wasnt some stuck up sell out... i would die if it would bring him back so the world could enjoy him again
i didnt mean nothing negative about it, i just didnt know he used one. but for the price its not quite worth it because you can get a Boss SD-1 new for $39.99. i dunno, whatever floats your boat. oh yea, and i did a side by side comparison, the only difference was only noticeable when you play it through the clean channel.
There's a difference between overdrive pedals and distortion pedals overdrive is what u want to add a little bite to your amps distortion like a tube screamer .. if try to add a distortion pedal to a amps distortion it just make alot of noise...
