  • Ugly man who can't sing.

  • @mrsspargel I can play it too =P

I posted a cover of it. It's in the video responses of this video. Check it out if you've got time

  • you can figure out what key its in and then try and figure it ouwt but patrickRb82 is right : you'll NEVER get a perfect transcription

  • @pskihqol I doubt Mayer himself could give you a perfect transcription since so much of his playing in improvised

  • If you can play this on guitar.. Then you're a pro. I WANT TO PLAY THIS ahhh

  • @mrsspargel

Ha i can play it, its not that difficult. It just doesnt sound as smooth as this John's. But then again, who can play anything he plays as smooth as him?

  • @chasewilliams69 Well then congrats :D i will never be as good ;)

And you're right, he's probably one of the best guitar players currently

  • Asking for tabs for this recording is like watching a video of a couple arguing in the street and then asking for the script. It just don't exist, brotha.

  • i don't think it's masculine when guys tilt their head back that way

  • Awesome version.

  • tabs anyone?? :-)

  • Check out my version of this song!

  • Mayer is the man!!!..idon't care what nobody says he's raw!!

  • @80zbabe90zprodigy

You don't care about what nobody says?

so you do care about what somebody says?

  • No woman, no Fry!

  • everyone search baldy and burke and listen to their songs they're soo good!

  • This is so amazing, Bob Marley, which I have listened to since I was born and I love his music so much, and John that is now my number one favourite and I can't go one day without listening to him, and now I found this and I'm in heaven, this is magical. I love this

  • 43 people listen to that bieber chick..

  • The tatoo means Stevie Ray Vaughan?

  • @deanbedlamjim yes, he was john's biggest musical inspiration.

  • @ak231510 right on...you can hear vaughan's ideas all throughout the trio's material...john knew that following his intense blues studies and mimicing of vaughan that he would be..at best (which is a phenomenal accomplishment in its own) and vaughan cover player/writer...which there are a very many...which is why he goes into pop tunes style writing (as 'they' have said)...honestly...its about bringing something new and fresh to the table...keep it simple, keep it safe

  • @ak231510 Stevie Ray Vaughan was the man.

  • @ak231510 can u tell me wat is the meaning of next tattoo bellow the srv???

  • @grv360 I'm not sure, I can't see that one very well, but I do know most all of his sleeve is Japanese related. John lived in japan for awhile a one point in his life and has gotten all of his ink done by a place in japan that has to allow you to have it, you can't just walk in, they have to find you worth of it, so I also thought that was interesting. I'm not sure if he is fluent, but he does speak Japanese as well.

  • Is he playing this with a pick? Or is he finger plucking it like on some of his other acoustic songs?

  • @tim32608 sounds like hes just using his finger, but he does both in the same song a lot, he'll finger pick while palming a pick in his hand, then he pulls the pick out for certain parts.

  • @ak231510 "Hybrid picking"

  • I quite like this version :) Just because it isn't a carbon copy of the original doesn't make it suck! All you negative people need to chill out and just care a little less about things!

  • He killed this song

  • @XentiksFainn Dude it's not like he released tt and it makin money from it. If your buddy started rollin this one out on his guitar you wouldn't tell him he ruined it

  • @sillybilly972 you are right, his audio is front a bar in atlanta where he played before he was famous

  • @sillybilly972 I said, he killed this song.

  • @XentiksFainn You won't get anywhere being an insufferable dick like that, it's music, just feel it

  • Check out "Chillin" by Five Wheel Soul

  • gay picture

  • it's awesome how much of this is just pure feel; all the small nuances that can't be taught ..

  • @nikkiskg Have you listened to Keith Urban and John Mayer play together? Perhaps during live shows they've been playing together or maybe an episode of Crossroads? Did you hear how much respect Keith had for Mayer? Here I'll answer for you, no because you're ignornant and most likely a little drunk if you confused "John Mayer" for "Tim McGraw and Faith Hill".

  • If I were in teh audience, I would have a difficult time not killing the bishes who had the nerve to talk during his concert. Srsly....wtc? I'm not even a big John Mayer fan, know about 3 of his songs and it would have pissed me off. lol

  • @Darkestone46and2 it wasn't a concert he was playing in eddies attic.. more like a coffee house set then a concert..

  • John Mayer is the most talent Guitarist of this era no doubt about it. He may be a wack job ahaha. But there is no doubt he is a talented artist and that's what I love about his style. He's a confident guy and makes music because he loves it!

  • @francois246 most talented of this era?? Don't think so.. I think you could throw his name in the mix with Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, and Davy Knowles.. those guys are a bit more dynamic as players

  • @WHO9ER dynamic? hes gotten grammys for pop, blues and anything in between lolol

  • @obga18 grammys don't mean anything, What i was trying to express is that those players are more innovative.. don't get me wrong though, i'm not knocking your boy john, he's still a hell of a player

  • @nikkiskg Agreed; those are both very talented artists.

You are still a punk who thinks he/she's a million times better than you actually are.

John Mayer is unbelievably talented, as he has proved on a multitude of occasions, constantly adapting new playing styles and appearing in countless different genres.

'Opo' is NOT a substitution for 'opinion'. You're retarded.

Ciao, now chow. Chow is a term for food. You're retarded.

Use of punctuation tends to sharpen persuasiveness.

    You're retarded.

  • when John isnt doing his gay MTV pop b.s, he one of the best musicians/guitarists out there today. ...heres proof.

  • @valax300 examples of his "gay MTV pop b.s."?

  • @ak231510 iloveyou.

  • These people obviously don't know who's on stage.

  • Reggae - C, G, Am, F and back to C.

  • @nikkiskg stupid slut.

  • @TheAznJohnMayer oh wow your such a "Big Man" did you learn those nice words all by yourself, listen I have wasted way too much of my precious time on your dumb azz unlike you I don't like to curse or act like an idiot only give an opo which I hate to remind you everyone is entitled to even a jerk like you, you need to ask him for a few bucks for all your hard work on his behalf lmbo............. now plzzzz get a life as I do have one and want nothing more to do with you or JM for that matter ok

  • @nikkiskg get at me son.

  • this songs impossible to learn jeez. does anyone have a good tab

  • @yucky1336

    Yes there is on 911tabs.com

A very good one, hope that'll help dude ! ;-)

  • when does he start singing?:(

  • @Wouter1211 it's an instrumental version

  • i prefer bob marley's bitches

  • joss stone sigs this song for a little bit but its nice

  • Its cool but i wud much rather the marcus walker version.

  • this is good, but xavier rudd's version is ten times better.

  • @sheepnigz rudd's is ok, he's doing it on lap steel, not guitar, they are two different instruments, but Ben Harper has actually done a better version of no woman on lap steel that you should check out if you think rudd's is great.

  • @sheepnigz

vinnie lupinski's version the best try it and see what I mean

  • @sheepnigz I prefer Thomas Leeb's

  • lol, the racist is covering one of the greatest songs from a black man lol.

  • @NJatTheDisco why is he racist? If you actually read the interview, you'd see all he said was that he didn't know why black people had given him a "hood pass" as the interviewer asked. But that if he actually had a "hood pass" it would be called an "n-word pass" which is just a fact, black people use it like that, he did not call anyone the n-word he merely stated the word as a point of fact not as a slur, using the n-word does not make you racist, calling someone the n-word makes you racist.

  • @ak231510

I want to believe that he's not an asshole, then he goes and says shit like "i guess my penis is a white supremacist" in interviews :/... oh well, He'll be my musical inspiration and not my role model :p

  • @toastyy Yeah, that was just a stupid bad joke to try and make, but why is that statement racist either, it was just a poorly worded joke about how he has only dated white chicks to this point. So he's not racist, just his penis? I dont really care, about all the extra stuff, i'm just a fan of the music, it just bothers me in any situation when people only read a headline or an out of context sentence but then scream racism even if thinking intelligently for a second would indicate otherwise.

  • @ak231510

i didnt say he was being a racist, i said he was being an asshole. i still love the guy, dont get me wrong, and it definitely does not affect the quality of his music for me

  • @ak231510 then why didnt you just say nigger ? you said the 'n-word' because you feel there is something wrong attached to it... I myself am not a racist, i am a honky that finds the stigma/ emotion attached the word nigger funny... if people didnt act like you the wouldnt be a problem with the f!"king word !

  • @rendofarend I didnt say it cause I just dont use words like that, I dont swear either I find that it makes u sound unintelligent. If I did choose to use it it still wouldn't make me racist unless I was saying it to a blk person or saying it about a blk person. I also think the stigma is stupid because of how much blk ppl use it and black people today are so far away from slavery that they would have to do a large family tree to find anyone remotely affected by it. They keep it alive not wht ppl

  • @NJatTheDisco

Yeaah sure, That's why he Played with B.B King....

  • TABBBBSSSSS?????

  • the endinngs the best

  • Best version???! Seriously? I don't think so.

  • @Mr42ohh he obviously hasn't heard Thomas Leeb's

  • @Mr42ohh he obviously hasn't heard Thomas Leeb's

  • does that tattoo refer to Stevie ray?

  • Thank you so much for uploading. =]

  • I found this tab at ultimate-guitar

    Looks good :]

  • @A7Xshredster keep n mind this is him 11 years ago. Right now, he's infinitely better. This was a foretaste of better things to come.

  • @A7Xshredster Ya but he's also got a good voice talented songwriting, so its not like his guitar made him famous, more his voice

  • @A7Xshredster Have you heard the guy solo bebop? It's extraordinary. I'd like to see a metal guitarist do a clean bebop solo.

  • @A7Xshredster hahahahahah if you seriously listen to Mayer's songs like edge of desire, clarity, vultures, etc and you can't notice the incredible songwriting style he's developed then you need to rethink your ideas about music.

  • @A7Xshredster no the difference is he can actually write amazing riffs, i know this is ironic commenting on him doing a cover but you should listen to his album 'try' by the john mayer trio

  • COME TO PORTLAND OREGON AGIAN SOON PLEASE!

  • This is talent folks, any way you slice it. Notice how people stop talking as he keeps playing...like he's good or something.

  • @clifton062 amature is not a very good description since the instrumental is about 100% more complex than the original, seriously, I learned both, marley's version i nailed in about 15 minutes, this version I still have trouble getting exactly right.

  • @clifton062 chad clifton? well if you think 1:32 is amature you really have to learn how to play guitar and find out for yourself just how amature it is. if you think you have more talent than john mayer then i'm eric clapton

  • @clifton062 And it's kind of outrageous that the moments you think that he's not overrated and amateur are because he played guitar behind his head and on the ground... Open your ears and use your brain man...

  • @clifton062

Okay then try to play Mayer's Wait Until Tomorrow cover while singing at the same time... some guys are always criticizing but hey, John Mayer is playing in front of thousand people. And you are not.

  • perfect.

  • bob marley + john mayer ftw

  • He looks high ALL the time.

  • Fuck me, this is the shit.

Bob Marley would be proud. And SRV rocks. John Mayer is fucking sick. Peace.

  • Well, best guitar version of this song is

Thomas Leeb "No Woman No Cry" Bob Marley fingerstyle cover

    at me -(:

    nice playing btw

  • Mmm, he is so hot.

  • Guess it doeesn't matter too much who it is. It's still an interesting take on a classic. Gotta disagree with the person who thinks playing the song without singing it is some kinda sin.

  • @aeljim you must hate classical music

  • @danielsson2 not at all... but this isn't classical music! is a very nice song and someone who can't sing it...

  • @aeljim its called comping you retard you know its when you add the notes from the melody that supposed to be sung mixed in with the rhythm kinda impossible to sing while doing that

  • does anyone know the guitar/strings he used in this vid? his tone is amazing

  • @chuminat0r I think it was a Martin. But I'm not sure wich one. However, I think it are very heavy strings.

  • @chuminat0r tone sucks!

  • Comment removed

  • @ak231510 do you only have audio? or maybe video aswell? btw awesome this is!

  • @RedRoosterbabam Either way, its awesome!

  • His guitar work is so similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan's =S i know hes his idol and everything

  • Peter Rowan does a mighty fine cover of this song.

  • How do you not know who stevie ray vaughan is omgggg

  • @doodi988

    It means Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  • Look at his SRV tattoo on his arm.

  • what does SRV mean?

  • @doodi988 SRV stands for Stevie Ray Vaughan, who was John's biggest musical inspiration. Go listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan - Pride and Joy, its insane how much they sound alike in that song.

  • @ak231510 sorry, but jimi hendrix was johns biggest inspiration, then came SRV thats what he said in an interview i saw.. I also thought is was SRV first... cuz his style kinda looks alike. but....

  • @FreaquedeMusique plz send me the link on the interview

  • @magu0117 I saw it on tv but maybe you can find on youtube... just look up on youtube john mayer interview and with sumthin like inspiration or stevie ray vaughan or jimi hendrix... btw i was listenin voodoo child live on woodstock on my iPod and at some point i was like.. hey i heard this before... and I remembered it from the i dont need no doctor solo from where the light is.. taht was fun..

  • check out my band cover of i don't need no doctor by john mayer :)

  • wow

You know, it took me a while to warm up to Mayer, but I have to say, he's incredible. This really is the best guitar version of this song I have ever heard .. he carries the melody so well it kinda floors me.

  • he should sing it too

  • wow...That was real good
