  • ernly i thik the movies better

  • @leopardgecko4life1 You are the 1%

  • Hugh can hide in my mirror anytime....

  • @Gahoyify

    me 2!!!

  • I saw the musical on Broadway with this cast a few month ago. Amazing performance. Honestly it irks me a bit that people blindly praise the original cast (well, they do deserve it) and completely ignore any new casts!

  • @IsItTheBagel Yep! Except in my case I hate Sarah Brightman... haha I think she's absolutely terrible.

  • @thealexx3 You can dislike her voice, but you can't deny her talent. Not just anyone can hit those high notes effortlessly.

  • how'd you film this?? the playbill said absolutly no cameras or recording devices during preformance. soo cool though i was late and missed this whole part of the play.

  • ... Half of these comments are illegible. Anyway, I love these two, and TMG.

Hugh's :o face in the mirror was kind of cool.

  • @ViscountessdeChagny I thought Hugh looked like Spock from Star Trek in the mirror, LOL! XDDDDDD

  • @aShLeYlUvSrOcK098 OMG totally.

  • this is not sarah brighton or michale crawford this is a different phantom and christine they left production in 1994 both sarah and mc were replaced with

robbert geullme the guy who played benson on the tv show he too is a verry good phantom voice very well trained this is hugh he is good but no mc or rg

  • I wish that michael crawford and sahrah brightman had made a good quality video of the number the"phantom of teh opera" , insted of that dude from cockney rebel ....

  • Dat vibrato... O.o Goodness Christine...

  • 8:45~8:55..... fascination

  • Lol, Christine has a pretty cool ride to her singing lessons....

  • I met Hugh for my 11th bday he invited me backstage to sign my playbill, take pics and even took me on the stage for a second. Im 18 now and I'm seeing Phantom wed for the 6th time and can't wait to see Hugh again! he is truly my favorite Phantom in my favorite musical playing my favorite role!!!!

  • 2:52: It's the revelation!

  • I wish the audio was better.... Also, has anyone else notice that RUG only takes down the london videos??? these videos have been up for a couple years, and some london videos pop up, they are gone in a couple months....

  • @TheTitanic4 They do take down quite a few of the Broadway ones. I've seen some removed within just days.

  • @TheTitanic4 It's coz the London one is the original production of the musical and as I say- the original is the best.

  • Just saw Hugh in this on Wednesday. He was SO amazing!

  • I saw these two on the 14th and loved every minute of it! It was my first Broadway show and I was completely blown away. Hugh was simply brilliant, his voice is perfect for this role! :))

  • @alizonbway You definitely saw Hugh, but not Sandra - she left in 2006. You saw either Sarah Jean Ford (my personal favorite...she's just wonderful) or Marni Raab.

  • saw hugh last week, holy freakin cow, he was freakin epic!

  • Hugh Is inside my mind! love him!!!!!!

  • hugh is just perfect. No flaws. amazing. never get bored with this play and i have listened to it over i don't know how many times.

  • Every time I see broadway versions of this on youtube, either they have an awful phantom and a decent Christine, or a decent phantom and an awful Christine. I hope if I ever get to see this on broadway that they finally have both a decent phantom and a decent Christine so it doesn't ruin the experience for me.

  • @KaylaS999 Hugh Panaro and Sara Jean Ford - They are amazing together.

  • I've said this before, and I will keep saying it..

The Phantom is the only man that makes a cape sexy.

  • Saw Hugh in December. His voice still gives me chills. :)

  • Awwwwwww the Phantom in Baritone voice! I love it it sounds darker and scarier to me

  • Hugh... is awesome.. But the Hair stroking and chest stroking... >_> awkward....

  • @LovingShadowLink couldn't agree more, he's so amazing though...but yeah haha.

  • Loved Raoul, loved the Phantom ...... erm, that's all :-)

  • OMG <3

    hugh is my phantom.

  • Ok I have a question and I'm hoping someone out there will be able to put my mind at rest! I'm visiting NY in July and am hoping to be able to go to my favorite show. Every single ticket site shows tickets through July 2 and not beyond! Is this for a summer break? Is it simply as far in advance as they have tickets right now? Or -- HEAVEN FORBID -- is Phantom leaving Broadway to make room for Love Never Dies? SOMEONE HELP!!! Thanks!

  • @musicalmeg19 Phantom isn't closing. They only release tickets that far in advance...that's normal. There's no summer breaks for the show itself.

  • @Paula74 Excellent!! That's what I assumed but I wanted to make sure. Thanks for the reply!

  • Thankyou so much for uploading! I went to see this show a week ago in London, but I've since forgotten many of the technical details. And since I'm currently struggling through an essay on that particular topic... well, you see the dilemma. Anyway, this was an amazing help, thanks. :)

  • Sandra's acting is, diffrent..

  • I saw this yesterday!!!! And to my surprise, HUGH PANARO WAS THE PHANTOM!!!!! I was in awe...it was absolutely incredible to witness this musical...and to have the BEST man for the role play the phantom. :D

  • I like how I can sing all of this in the right octave -.-

  • @Egsggum LOOOL I was thinking the same thing.

  • @PartyInTheUK Yayy for huge ranges!

  • Could someone post a video of Hugh Panaro and Sara Jean Ford singing the title song, please. Thank you.

  • he's therrrreeee, the phaaantom of the operaaa

  • Back again eh? I saw him and Sandra back in 1999 on Broadway. Thought they were great!

  • You know, Panaro said in an interview that before he just took over the role of Phantom, He watched the Michael Crawford version that only cast members can view in the Lincoln Center library. I guess to see "the Master" do it, lol.

  • @thephantom1946 those folks are so lucky. T_T

  • Hugh's back in Phantom. Yay! Now is my chance to see him! ^^

  • i much prefer tmg in the role of raoul than phantom.

  • saw this once, i wanna go see it again and again and again and again and again and again and again and ag- have i made my point yet?

  • electrifying....that phantom is pretty darn good!

  • farc300 he ain't no pervert he's in love with her and he's also her teacher that was his only way to teach

  • flicymcbean actually ud b surprised what theater hands can do in 5 seconds unseen and what the actors can do I don't think they have run ons I think it's the real actors that last note is recorded for strain on her voice and the verse is recorded cuz the track that the boat runs in is really loud

  • @EmmersEmily Yes that is how Broadway does it, but my high school had no recorded vocals and our boat was controlled secretly by Christine (no track).

  • @EmmersEmily It's all in the book which was published to coincide with the London Production. They use 2 sets of doubles for this scene and the 1st and 2nd verse is recorded because the Phantom and Christine are climbing a ladder to get to the travelator to replace the 2nd set of doubles. MC talked about this scene in his book and on the Michael Parkinson show, saying that he and Sarah (Brightman) used to sing over the pre-recorded verses everynight.

  • Does Hugh give anyone else the chills? Or if it just me?

  • Oh my goodness! I'd forgotten how completely brilliant Hugh is in this role. Can't we start a petition to get him to come back??!! He's by far my favorite Phantom!

  • @musicalmeg19 no need to start a petition, he's taking over the role on broadway from John Cudia (whose last show is sept 4)

  • @elphabaize Oh thank you ever so much for letting me know!!! He's the best!

  • @musicalmeg19 he's returning to the production on September 7th!!!!!

  • @musicalmeg19 he'll be back on the 6th

  • @musicalmeg19 he IS coming back

i think he IS back already

  • @musicalmeg19

    he's back, now.

  • @musicalmeg19 HE IS BACK NOW! WOOO!

  • @musicalmeg19 He's now on Broadway again!

  • I read that The people on the "travelator" are doubles. Im pretty sure thats true. I also read that most of this song (or atleast until they are on the boat) is prerecorded. Is that true? The last note is definately prerecorded.

  • @farc300 Yes, for most of the song, the people on the travelator are double except on the last pass across. And, yes, much of this song is prerecorded.

  • @farc300 The first and 2nd verse of POTO are pre-recorded, as is the last 'E' at the end as there is too much strain on the voice to perform this 6 shows a week (ALW stipulated the maximum number of shows any Christine should perform each week is 6). There are 2 sets of doubles in this scene; the phantom and christine which run across the stage as the curtain closes after the mirror and the first travelator phantom and christine. They are replaced by the real pair on the travelator.

  • one way mirror to her dressing room? what a pervert!!!!

  • who is Raoul in this production? he looks like the Phantom on the most recent one...

  • @nspire25 It's Tim Martin Gleason...Raoul here, Phantom in the current tour.

  • OMG this looks amazing i so want to see it WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG thanks for posting this. I just saw Phantom on bway for the first time this weekend, and the entire time I was thinking how wonderful it would be if Hugh was somehow the Phantom again. His voice is so beautiful and he manages to make you feel the emotions the music tries to convey.

  • Who is playing Raoul?

  • Tim Martin Gleason who is now the Phantom with the touring company.

  • I'm not much of a fan of these two.. I preferred Marie Danvers as Christine, and with the Phantoms, the best I had ever seen was Gary Mauer. Tim Glesson came in for a close second though! When those two hit their notes, it was like dying and going to heaven.

  • wowowowowow hugh is great!!!!!!!!!

  • will he ever play phantom on broadway again? i really want to see him

  • its so weird hearing americans sing it!!! Laaatie said...

I saw this cast (bar Hugh...i actually saw Howard Mcgillin). They were so good and then i ended up seeing this show another 3 times in London. I love it!!

  • whos playing the phantom right now on broadway?

  • John Cudia

  • John Cudia

  • Is phantom still on broadway? i know they have the one in vegas(which i've seen) and new york but i heard that it was no longer touring? is that true?

  • no its still going

  • he looks amazing behind the mirror... i love the little breath he takes... he looks so great doing it.

  • i saw this muiscal and i love it

  • My mistake this is from Hugh's Final Performance

  • No its not

  • I'm glad he took of his hat, looks better with out it. Just saying..

  • I sort of agree with schoolplaystar1214, although the hat on his head looks like a small effort to make it different from the movie, some of the words in the song is different though. Still love it the most beautiful opera ever...

  • um no youv got it allllllll wrong...... the opera came way the hell first so they dont have to make an effort to make it different from the movie! none of the words on stage are changed, the movie words are changed!!!!!!!

  • I never said I was right now did I?

  • its not an opera.. its a muscial

  • wow... that was so important to say and makes SUCH a huge difference... they do sing opera though. i hope that made you feel real smart.

  • It is a musical, however many of the actors who have been employed over the years were initially opera singers (or they jump between the genres).

  • technically its an Operetta its got both elements of Opera and Musicals

  • its a musical haha... how about go see the show.. read the programme and it says... The Phantom of the Opera The musical!

  • i have seen the show smart ass and i've done a report on phantom its an operetta look it up

  • in a opera everything is sung and some parts were spoken. so its a musical

  • the guy who plays the phantom is kinda good but the girl who plays christine sounds to trilly

  • i agee

  • um i cant under stand what they are saying and the camaring is bad just saying

  • you have to hide it really well

  • Nao Gosto da Interpretacao e nem da voz apesar de cantar bem!
