  • Yes, of course, without a load there can be no amperage. God bless you.

  • Do you need to have loads on your turbine to read your amperage?

  • @wyattlisadna & laidofftomass & Howdoit540 - Ok guys you've all made your points, no sense in getting petty. I think Laidofftomass has a right to express his opinion and preference for one turbine over another without feeling attacked. Jeff also makes a good turbine if used the right environment and to his credit he has more useful info given freely on his site than any other place. I learned much from reading his website, bought one of his turbines and will be flying it soon.

  • @econewpower Agreed, sorry :(. So i'm waiting a month to order those dupont solar panel's did you order any yet ?

  • @laidofftomass Yes, I did, thanks for turning me on to them. I placed an order for 20 panels, I'll shoot a video when they get here. I called Outback and they said that I should be fine combining the HF panels i wired in strings of 80v and these 100v panels, just that I won't get maximum point tracking. I'm ok with that since I'll be using only 4 panels out of the 20. The other 16 panels will go to dedicated charge controllers. I'm hoping to finish one half of my battery bank this weekend.

  • @econewpower Awesome. Glad to hear it. 20 panel's at 100 watts lol. I can't wait to see your video of the amp's on the a sunny day :)

  • That is a cool tower setup. A solar heater would be an excellent addition to your setup. I would recommend getting an instructional on how to build it though. Or you can ask me anytime and i'll give you some pointers on how to help you build it. The solar can heater I built puts out constant heat in the winter. Average of 160 degrees output most all day in the winter.

  • Wow the needle was buried later in the video when you first cut in. Time for a new amp meter :). AWESOME power for top end and they work very well in low wind as well as a 12v setup. Good video's. Hope you get your tower back up soon.

  • @laidofftomass They dropped off an 85 foot manlift last night, we're fixing the tower today and adding 30 more feet to it, more guy wires and have reinforced the anchors with 650 pounds more concrete on each. I'll take a video over the weekend and post it when I get a chance. Thanks for the comments.

  • @laidofftomass Hey laidofftom ass I've seen your videos and I don't think it is right that you are selling those windmax's and dissing an american company (IT'S OBVIOUS). Windmax is made in china. i researched it and i'm sorry i won't knowingly send another dime or job overseas if i can help it. Sorry econopower but laidoff is not allowing my coment on his videos.

  • @laidofftomass sorry about the spacebar in your name it was an accident. but you ARE NOT being truthful about them being manufactured in Texas. my friend has a windmax and i will take a pic of his box and labeling on the turbine with chinese writing all over it. yes they are imported into texas in their chinese box and shipped out . i will put a picture of his turbine on my channel. click my username to see. give us name and address of manufacturing plant in Texas to prove it. sorry Al you rock.

  • @wyattlisadana Lol I have nothing to prove. The plant in texas employs more people in a america with american jobs than any other do it yourself car alt wind turbine place on the web - FACT. You can look that up on the web if you know how to and as they expand more american's get more job's. Then one day a american company might make a product that can compare to it until then I go for what help's my pocket and the environment for the least cost. If its chinese so be it.

  • @Howydoit540 I to can start another account and make post and bash the products that are other's

  • @wyattlisadana Wrong, you have commented on my video's. I don't sell them and I have nothing to do with windmax other than I am a customer that is very happy. Good try Jeeff and grow up please

  • @wyattlisadana Laidofftomass is correctly and accurately commenting on his personal experience and backing it with real tests. You are welcome to comment here but leave the attitude and curse words out or I'll also remove you from comments. As adults we can agree that we'd like to buy American made products, but if the American product is inferior in performance to others then let market capitalism win and buy the better product regardless where it is made.

    Please keep clean and cordial.

  • isn't 58% (14v on a 24v battery system) 'bad' for the batteries? most of what i read, this will shorten the useable life of the batteries drastically. this is the problem i am trying to find a solution.

  • when there is no wind or not enough wind to keep the batteries charged, how do you prevent the grid inverter from discharging the batteries below a safe voltage?

  • @rogerchangja The inverters will shut off automatically when the voltage has dropped down to 14V on my 24 V system which is 58% of the battery capacity remaining.

  • @leamyvideo I've not tried going directly to grid tie inverters and thus bypassing the batteries. I'm certain that under most prevelent conditions you'll be OK keeping that voltage under 55 volts, however, when you do have the occasional wind storms you may very well exceed the rated voltage, if you have a decent grid tie inverter they will shutdown and not fry. Check with whoever made your inverter and ask them what the behavior will be if the max input voltage is exceeded.

  • nice setup.

i saw a grid tie inverter.

how do you connect to the wind turbines?

  • @rogerchangja The turbines charge the batteries and the batteries supply the power to the grid tie inverters.

  • very nice, those turbines are cooking, Keep those videos comming Thanks Nebraska Dave

  • Thanks for the comments, glad you liked it!

  • Would it be possible for you to explain your wiring panel step-by-step in an upcoming video. I'm having difficulty finding good information for how to wire all of the components together. A wiring diagram would be really nice. Thanks for sharing your work with all of us!

  • @jimginnyohio Go missouriwindandsolar and you'll find detailed instructions on how to wire everything up. He sells everything you'll need to get going from excellent wind turbines to fully wired power panels.

  • Wow! What state are you in? Your turbines are very uniquely positioned. I've never seen a setup like that. It is defenetly thinking outside the box. Keep the updates coming. Later from sunny FL!

  • I'm in Texas, thanks for your comments, we're still trying different things but I think we have one more design change before it's all done. Should be finished next week. Thanks!

  • that is awesome ! how much power can your grid tie inverters handle and what is 50 amps for you in watts like around 1300 ? very cool - cant wait to see the 5-9kw turbine you mentioned.

  • Batteries are usually hovering around 27v-28v so if I get 50A then I'm generating 1,350 watts to 1,400 watts. The grid tie inverters can handle about 500 watts and I'm adding another 300 watt grid tie inverter soon so I don't have to dump out much. I'll also be adding 420watts of solar to that system so I'll have to monitor and see if that's enough. Usually sunny days there's not much wind and overcast days are windy so it may be just right with that much inverter.

  • What all are you gonna run with all that power. How ya got it hooked up for use?

  • It's hooked up right now as grid tie, I have more inverters on order-you can see two of those already connected and their green lights flashing indicating they are pushing power to the grid. Soon I will be installing 20 deep cycle batteries which will feed the non-grid tie inverters for when I have a power failure I can have power. The batteries/inverter will be connected via an automatic transfer switch. Thanks for watching!
