They had a really good idea for this movie, but they really screwed it up. The first half of the movie was pretty good, but then it just got too sappy and dumb at the end with a very unrealistic ending.

Rani was fantastic, as usual, but I felt they could've done so much more with this film.

it's about a girl from banaras(rani) who decides, because her family is in money trouble, to go to mumbai and seek a living for the family. but she can't find a job so she turns to be an escort girl. she is leading a secret life but when chutki (konkona), her sister, comes to mumbai to work, things take a dramatic turn. there is of course also a love story between rani and abhi.

The performances from Rani&Konkona are competent the movie itself lacks lustre. The movie presents the story but chooses not to make a judgement on the industry of woman sex workers. The end concentrates on respecting Rani's decision & accepting the consequences; this leads to a happy ending. However, how far her characters' life mirrors real life I believe is vast. But I appreciate & respect the idea that these women are not be scorned but deserve our compassion. That message can be understood
