The national language is patois...ppl read jamaican history..english is our second language..Yendi did great!!!

Ms Yendi's response sounded great at her final question but she committed greatest mistake in the context and belief of christian faith or any other religious sectors around the world. As I higlight Yendi's answer, "... there is only 1 person can take away life and that is God." Her statement is absolutely wrong for God is not a person but the almighty creator of the universe and mankind. Bible, Qoran or even a Dictionary. Person is human, mankind, man or woman but not God.

@richpist Patois is NOT slang. Please do your research. Jamaican Patois is a commonly spoken language in Jamaica and else where in the Caribbean and south America. English and Patois are (though often mixed) separate Entities.

@southbeachlondn I would have to agree with richpist on this one because in Jamaica we do not learn "patois" in school unless in literature like miss lou's poem. I know on wikipedia it says jamaican patois is the official language but they pulled that out of some weird book because we are encouraged in any official place or business setting to speak "proper english". we are proud of patois and we speak it but there is no written form for it
