There was no chance for a jury to convict him. He copped a plea, remember? The evidence is pretty compelling. The appendix that listed the names of the doctors he visited and the huge quantity of prescription pills he purchased was convincing enough that ol' Rush felt a jury would convict him. And regarding "politically correct", Rush is the one who advocated throwing the book at drug offenders. Until it came his turn, that is.

There was more than adequate evidence. It is clearly listed in the application by the State Attorney's Office for a search warrant. Again, including taped phone messages & emails. He got a sweetheart deal of a plea bargain, including paying back something like $30,0000 reimbursement regarding the three year long investigation. Fact, not opinion. All a matter of public record. ruck, read the link I posted. Limbaugh was actually reported by his own doctor. He doctor shopped, meaning going to multiple doctors at the same time to get painkillers from all of t hem to feed his habit. It's illegal. The issue here isn't really being addicted to prescription painkillers. It's hypocrisy. All that ranting on his part about sending drug abusers to prison- except when it came to him. He also illegally bought drugs from his housekeeper. Documented via taped phone messages.

Nope, he never broke the law! Long after rehab and after a long court battle to protect his privacy, the courts allowed Floridian athorities to view his personal medical records. And they found nothing!!!

Sorry, Rush liked the 'rush' from his narcotics....he chewed them instead of allowing them to be absorbed over 8-12 hours and got high, just as you would from IV heroin. People with bad backs, the way Rush describes his, do NOT play golf. As an R.N. for 40 years, I am well acquainted with drug seeking, doctor-shopping, low-lifes like Rush.

This is a practice by doctors for some time now and is being rightly reconsidered.
The people dealing with cronic pain that doctors treat this way and patients that choose this treatment understand that there's a very good chance they will get addicted and at some point may have to deal with breaking the addiction. The hope is that by that time the condition will be gone or much improved. Personaly I hope they limit this practice to only a select few.

He's certainly not perfect as goes his decision to let his doctor treat his pain with powerful drugs.Having said that, my thing here isn't about him. If Rush fell off the face of the earth, It wouldn't have any bearing on the principles I've always had. I don't agree with everthing he says, but he's just one of a few that talk about most of the same things I do believe in
