When you think how EA would go bankrupt if ppl would not buy any of their content with DRM on it, well, that's the solution right there. The real problem is people are too mindless to realize it and be part of the *real* solution. Money talks. Make EA lose money over this, they'll have no choice but to revert their ways. I just got the game and Installed it without a hitch and when I go to the Autorun and hit play , It asks me for a Registration Code -I've looked in the Manuals on the Disc the readme's , NOTHING. Im just stuck here. Please someone point me in the right direction to get a code or another route alternatively. Thanks in advance (Sorry for the noobish like question.)

The Roms are made to suck more money out of the user. Just like sombody said", console games last only so long, so companies really make DRMs so they can force you to rebuy games you bought years ago because you used up you installation. Ea and companies like this are stealing from us. This is why I prefer Linux to windows. The only down side is if I want to play a high quality drm free game I have to make it myself for the most part. Steam will benefit from this but I don't like being forced

1. If their DRM had viruses, there would have been a tremendous legal outroar.

2. If they had keyloggers in their DRM, it would be even worse then having a virus.

3. The DRM does have what people would call "spyware" but it's really just checking system specs and other stuff. Microsoft does it all the time so you're fucked on that aspect.

its really only in america that consoles are a majority, in places like europe and asia you see a lot more pc gamers. i guess most console gamers are too dumb to figure out how to install a game. and they alway use the excues that pc is too expensive when most of them have plasma screen tvs and like 500 games and 4 xboxs in their room. i costom built my pc for 600$ and i can play team fortress 2 online full settings with no lag, and crysis on ALMOST full settings.

I'm disappointed in the support, devs and testers of Mass Effect, cuz from what i've heard it's a GREAT game...but only when it works.

I believe i have found a way to get past DRM. When you insert the game just close the little pop up thing asking if you can install it. Go into "my computer--> your cd drive ( should have a mass effect icon )" right click and press explore. Highlight all of the contents and press copy. Create a folder to put it in such as "Mass effect (test)" and paste the contents within the folder. If the file just so happens to be compressed zip download winrar and extract it to you test file.

I'm also wondering about game magazines and reviewers. Why don't they discuss the state of bad DRM in their articles and reviews? If a game is hampered by bugs and tech problems that essentially make a game unplayable or frustrating then that affects its ratings accordingly. Bad and restrictive DRM absolutely the same effects as a bug (or virus) and should be treated as such.

If they want to treat me like a criminal, then I'll do it without giving them money. As I said before, I have no sympathy for publishers who infect their $50 games with what is basically a virus. DRM does not work. Protecting your investment is important, yes, but not at the expense of your customers. Valve and Stardock get it, either make the DRM transparent or (gasp!) don't even include it at all! Also, give the customer benefits, not punishment for paying.

I don't know about Spore (since it downloads content online), but if you use up your activations, couldn't you just replace the exe with a cracked one? If the DRM is in the game exe, then a cracked one will let you bypass that nonsense altogether.

Piracy may be wrong, but charging $50 for a "rental" is worse. I have no sympathy for publishers who treat their customers like criminals because they actually bought their game. Isn't pissing off your customers a bad business model?

I actually could "Buy and Crack" but it's not worth it. Bioshock, Mass Effect, World in Conflict, etc. are all SecuROM 'protected' games but I have drawn the line. Even though I REALLY wanted to play these games I have decided to boycott any games with this DRM (even with cracks available). Anyway, i dont HAVE to get these games...worst case is I just have to step outside into the real world. Sorry EA, and other companies, I'm spending my money elsewhere

This is what happens when I try to run Mass Effect. They say you get to install it on three machines, but it's false. If you re-install Windows (to try to fix why the game isn't working) or upgrade hardware (for me a video card and a case fan) then it burns up the activations.

So after playing for two days I'm being treated like a criminal and having to beg EA to let me play.

DON'T BUY THIS GAME UNLESS THEY GET RID OF THIS CRAP. Wait for Force Unleashed or go pick up a copy of KOTOR instead.

Download a pirate copy, microwave your game disk, break into small pieces and mail them back to EA Games with an angry letter.
