I don't really get into the bigger performances, like Joe says in The future is unwritten like they weren't part of the movement anymore because they are not in among the audience, i fail to get how they sing about it all but they are being controlled by being kept on the stage, don't get me wrong, I love Joe as much as the next guy but it just makes them look manufactured ya know, instead of playing the smaller venues.
The Clash had gotten bigger than anyone expected. Near the end they were superstars, they were in term's not punk anymore which is bullshit because they did play the gigantic stadiums yet they were labeled as selling out. They were always and will always be punk.

a good insight into this comes from a book by "jonny green" called "the clash a riot of our own" in fact he's in vidio at 3:21 bending down with the red shirt on sorting the guitar leads. he's also seen later tellin' every one to fuck off when the plugs have been pulled (not part of the film, done by a band can't remember who waiting to come on) trying to get the power back on. good book for clash fans. (no i'm not jonny green trying to plug a book by the way)

I don't really get into the bigger performances, like Joe says in The future is unwritten like they weren't part of the movement anymore because they are not in among the audience, i fail to get how they sing about it all but they are being controlled by being kept on the stage, don't get me wrong, I love Joe as much as the next guy but it just makes them look manufactured ya know, instead of playing the smaller venues.
