  • It's totally heartbreaking when I type "Rude Boy" in the search bar, and a fucking Rhianna song that nobody over 10 years old gives a fuck about pops up! Sorry, I just had to express Youtube's lame commercialism and promotion of shit corporate "fart-art" blocking the view of real, meaningful art!!!

  • joe strummer always reminds me of dustin dolling , the pro skater haha seriously . . .

  • i never was left wingt, instead stay on the far Right. Left wingers have murdered too many people. Fuck socialism!

  • It's London's Burning which was overdubbed in the studio.

  • Am i the only one who thinks this live version of Londons Calling is better than the studio version?

  • i rather be left wing than right. at least some of it is about the people

  • Fucking commies

  • Fuck the politics, fuck it all!

  • everyone wants to become one of the few. The fact is that MOST people don't make it and its selfish to think that YOU out of the billions will.

  • Personally the power of the market place resides in its left wing nor in its right wing but in a paradigm financially just, lack of such balance demanding a left wing response with a right wing one, that the bird may fly the coup. Democracy as the power of the people who spend money, not as the power of money to move people to spend time in the demos.

  • semi -documentary ha! thats just ray gauge drunk punk

  • "It's all of us or none" - JOE

  • The only good part of this film is Strummer. The quote he made about the right-wing is spot on.

  • @intenzez - yes, and he should know..his father was a Diplomat and Joseph went to boarding school in Surrey!

  • @MrChubbleyWarner I'm sorry if I misinterpret what you said. But do you mean that, because he has seen it, he knows that there's nothing. Me and Joe are cut from the same stock. Upper middle class, and I too share his views, and alot of it's based on the fact that i've seen what's there and know that it's nothing.

  • @intenzez - yeah, pretty much... but I think Joe should have said that he was from that background....this would have made his point even more valid IMO...but, I guess at that time it would not have been particularly 'punk' to have revealed this..

  • so many fucking people. wish people were passionate like this nowadays..

  • White Riot bridge: "people just wanna...sell records!" Strummer was always changing the lyrics like a folksinger...I love that about the Clash.

  • no he wasnt born then

  • Oh and their high as fuck lol

  • Comment removed

  • I love this.... when ever I watch this movie I always skip to this part then the behind the scene him on the stairs:D then I think I watch... "Some guy with a shot gun will blow your head off

  • YEA MAN

  • Does anybody know the address of the pub in the beginning of this video?

  • @andrew0901 It was The Railway pub in Atlantic Road, Brixton. It was renamed Brady's Bar in the 90s and looks nothing like that now. It's been abandoned for years too.

  • That other guy is brainwashed by the capitalist society. "I wanna have a big car, i wanna get rich".

  • Looks a bit old for Neil Oliver, *then*...if you look at him *now*...

  • They were young - we all thought the same!!!! then we grew up and the good ones still thought the same - CLASSSSSSS

  • As much as I liked the Clash, Joe seemed a bit clueless when it came to politics.

  • @BeanStovi I couldn't agree more. If you watch the interview with The Clash and Tom Snyder (1981), not only will you realize that Strummer had no reasoned political stance, but the entire group lacked justified belief as well. It was as if their 'act' and music-making abilities shrouded their need to hold any important conviction and direction.

  • @djordan0138 Your an idiot.

  • im glad i never bought a clash record the bloke at the beginning was just trying to say he didn't want to be stepped on he just went a little too far because he was making the point the labour and communism are hand and glove

  • The film used to be posted here. I guess they took it down since I last saw it, what bollocks.

  • What people don't realise is that 'right-wing' was once 'left-wing' when they fought against the privilege of monarchy/lords/etc. Once having wrested power from the pope, the kings and Queens, a new aristocracy arose - the bourgeois. They were left-wing in the face of the monarchy, and then became right-wing in the face of the people - like the kings and queens of the past - seeking to maintain their power and privilege. True 'left-wing' seeks the privilege of the people over the few. a2ed*com

  • Brilliant Film!

  • Left wing, right wing.... they all want your money!

  • Joe was a legend. His politics were well meaning, but he was profoundly misled. Musical genius, though.

  • @loopstheloop No, he was not a legend. At least not to anybody with a reasonable command of the English language.

  • @TheDiggoryvenn So we all have to have acommand of the English language to have an opinion? Cunt off, shithead.

  • ... Joe always looked out for the little guy and every person who have met him always say he was the nicest guy and always had time to speak to people.. Joe died in the morning due to a heart attack in his house reading the paper.

  • Haters , watch Joe Strummer Future is unwritten .. the last 20 Mins of the Documentry shows how Joe Lived and how he loved life.

A woman came up to him all nervous asking for a hug off him , and he gave her the biggest hug which lasted about 2 mins and told her he was happy to meet her. He'd go round Glastonbury and shit in front of fires with people , a guy got too drunk and he put a cover of him while everyone was taking the piss out of him , Joe was helping him..

  • lol u watch a lefty like Joe Strummer talk about politics and notice how he's very tolerant about everything, he keeps his own opinions but also respects others. then u watch a righty like Ted Nugent and he's like if u don't agree i'll shoot you. i'm not saying either one's better but just from image alone i think liberal is more attractive.

  • @wangsta25 Not just Ted Nugent , Fox News!! ... I have the same View as Strummer..

  • @wangsta25 im sorry but out of the whole political spectrum the left are more intolerant of other peoples views than the right wing.

  • @Blighty4eva I'm sorry but you guys have monarchists, nationalists and fascists.... i'm not your slave and your not my master, personally i'm a centralist

  • @wangsta25 Fuck monarchy, fuck nationalism, fuck fascism! They all share the same roots and are oppressive in nature!

  • @Blighty4eva you're confusing american democrats or the british labour party with he left wing. left wing simple means seeing an egalitarian future, right wing means seeking to keep the powerful in power.

  • @stocktakerbillybob Exactly! There's no narrow category of "left wing", but in simple words: Originally the goal of the left was to abolish monarchy, aristicracy and the church, because they were oppressive in nature. So, yeah, equality and not being oppressed were the first goals. Soviet Union and other so called communist countries were'nt left wing and weren't much less capitalistic like others. Leaders had lots of money, people living in poverty and shit. So it wasn't left wing.

  • @Blighty4eva Bullcrap, right wing is intolerant towards everything they don't agree with. I'm not intolerant against a group of people, but if they impose their doctrine, or try to make others think like them, and make others look bad, yeah, i'm against them.

  • @BeatnikFromHell666 Bollucks. If you dont agree with the left you are ridiculed as a racist, fascists, nazi etc.

  • @Blighty4eva What you talking about? Nazis were socialist. Marx didn't invent socialism. It started in the industrial revlution in Britain when the corporations trapped workers into poverty without rights such as health and safety. Marx invited Engels to Britain when it was already going on and copied it, but wrote more extreme views. Nazis were socialist in that they put money into public services etc, but they also had their own racist version. Not everything fits into a category.

  • LOL i love all the haters on here ..

  • Note: Johnny wrestling with Neil Oliver Of BBC coast fame at about 4:50

  • Who's the guy who's singing white riot with them?

  • @413punk Jimmy Percy from Sham 69 answered my own question.

  • 4:18 The guy standing to the right wearing the suede jacket. What's he doing! lol

  • @CelticReject Classic spot!

  • If he wanted to be rich and 'one of the few', why didn't he get off his fucking arse, the lazy workshy cunt?

The cunt is the epitome of the stereotype left-winger but sits there circle-jerking right-wing bollocks. Joe should have stuck his pint tumbler in his face, rattle what was left of his jaw and given the cunt a 'scheme-doing', Glasgow style!

  • @pishiest you sound like austin powers...a nit wit

  • @br14n88 Seriously, get fucked you disgusting, racist, nazi slime ball. I don't give a shit if Joe was 'a little rich boy', he chose a good path. The problem is not the 'reds and JEWS', the problem is people like you.

  • Great music; powerful personalities; impoverished politics. It was Labour who fucked over the white British working classes, not the Tories. East London and Brixton are unrecognizable today thanks to Blair's immigration policies. The Left are Champagne Liberals who forsook their constituency for the good opinion of the Internationalist Set. Strummer had no way of knowing this back in the Seventies however - but Enoch Powell did.

  • @br14n88 You don't have to be a slave trapped to how you were born into the world. The choice is yours when you decide to make one. Yeah, Joe came from a privileged upbringing, but hIS CONSCIENCE, SPIRIT, HUMANITY is fully alive. Can you deal with that fact?

  • Goddamn....look at the massive crowd!

  • 1:52 There is nothing at the end of that road. True.

  • At the time this was filmed Joe had to know he was on the verge of making some serious money and he had already determined that material wealth was not an end all.Its highly unique and testemant to his vision that sucess wasnt a big house but rather a better world.

  • haha balance is the only truth you will see all humans are devils and gods, when you are enlightened remember balance is the way the world has stayed where it is LONG BEFORE WE WERE HERE AND LONG AFTER WE WILL BE GONE. NOTHING IS EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS NOTHING. PEACE IS DEATH HAHA the world will always has its own way of interpriting things as it provides balance to the nothing. circle of life. ridiculously complex and ridiculously simple. But no matter what you do you are it and it is you

  • is that jim persey from sham 69 singing white riot with the clash?

  • Why does anyone care about what a bunch of drunk fucks say about politics?

  • Left wing politics is about the few political allies. The salary increases for the civil servants under Brown has been 12% a year. The average teacher or nurse has had no more than 3% a year. Brown gives his friends in the public services not the poor. Socialism is a racket.

  • @warriorprince1010 I'm sorry, but what exactly does New Labour have to do with left wing politics? Bunch of neo-liberals.

  • If you have nothing nobody can take it away from you.

  • both left and right wing politics will have their "men in black cars"

  • Comment removed

  • @reverendraver247

you do realise you was playing a role, don't you?

    freak

  • @1878EFC2008 I hav removed that remark because I feel very regretful, I apologise to all.

  • "There's nothing there. I'm sure of it."

    Amen.

Too bad Joe didn't have a full-blown anarchist movement to vibe off like we do.

    Lib-soc. Not Ingsoc.

  • May the left awake in Great Britain! Hardcore capitalism must be stopped.

    We need you right now.

    Greets out of Vienna.

  • @nonameposter most socialists in the u.k come from middle class backgrounds kind of ironic

  • When working class people are left, then they get called egoist. When middle class peole are left, then they get called "bonhomme" or "rich".

    kind of ironic

But you do not have to be poor or rich to fight poverty.

  • @glaxev sad but true

  • What's middle class? What's working class? In North America, pretty much everybody with a job is "middle class".

Time to realize who "them" and "us" really is.

  • that peaked black cap Mick Jones has got on, apparently he got the piss took out of him for wearing it, he threw it into the crowed after the 1st song...lol

    R,I,P, Joe

  • ray gange. i want a rolls royce and loads of money . must be a bit pissed eh

  • It's very interesting that they're talking about the SWP in a movie.

  • the clash werent into the nazi's at all,

for a start Joe was a pure humaneteriun,(how ever you spell it)

the clash were a positive band, like the Pistols, they embraced and listened to ska, reggae, dub and dance hall,.

  • 0.37 - So true.

  • swp ftw

  • @Jasonthegaiface They always try to take over all the demos in London. More rights for workers and better wages = less demand for labour and it is harder to get into a company, but unions don't care about the unemployed, only about their own skins. Show me a system that really works and I'll give you £5 lol

  • Omg..this is old neoclassic..It is so crazy that still so many people in UK/USA believe in Hajek, Friedmann...

The opposite is true: better wages = more consum = more demand for labour

  • Exactly; 'trickle-down' is a complete myth. Those in the more modest income brackets act as the catalyst and the engine for greater wealth creation. It's seen again and again throughout history- the more wealth that exists in the lower to middle income bracket, the more wealth that's generated for all.

  • u sound like Dylan probably without knowing it. "There is no left or rigt, only up or down. and i don't wanna go down" (I know i didn't get it all right but he says something like that)

  • I heard maybe one or two of his songs, can you tell me song's name? There is something in common between mine words and his. Im not a plagiator but im just one in bilion so there is no much space for originality even my vanity forces me to be ONE AND ONLY!!:D

  • That was not from a Dylan song but from a speech he once gave at a ceremony (The Tom Payne award)

  • and NOW is when you face it too...I'm not PRO-COMMie I can just see throu crap...this doc was like 1978 79...the world has changed a great deal and not for the better...HEGEMONY of Mainstrean US culture is OFF and now CAPS has really shown its true face...To think GLOBALLY at first is just an odiocy PERIOD...also, bot are/were about control of the masses but DEEP DOWN there is a fundamental difference between the TWO strummers quiffs cool. Thats it from me. Let the WORLD rot see whats come out

  • who is joe talking to?

i really agree with joe. the clash really is a revolution.

  • Joe is talking to Robert Smith of the Cure

  • not really but it bloody looks like him !

  • i thought it was him for a second

  • he's talking to RAY GANGE who's a complete TIT and gets sexual favors from CLASH groupies and he also drinks the stash of beer when the band is On-Stage...he lived in a five star box-room in Brixton and...he picks his nose

  • thats funny.this guy hes talkin to is a prick, hes on that clash finsbury park gig, shoutin 1 more song for the clash, then he gets kicked off stage,,..lol

  • not Finsbury park Carlos...The anti-nazi league gig took place at Victoria Park East London...Paul Simenon went there to play last year as some sort of anniversary took place exactly at the same spot. Poly StYrene and Damon All bran and Jimmy Pursey and some other punks young and olde played there too. The La's played but they ain't punks...just Liverpudlians...Merry Christmas my dear.

  • yeah but its all for the movie though!

  • yeah he was,but he still looks daft

  • 1:45 to 2:23 totally agree!

  • joe strummer > god, imo

  • yes Joe yes

  • I was there and a fucking good time was had by the oi polloi. When it mattered The Clash were anti-fascist.

  • fuck obama

  • Damn zombie nation awto be sick of seeing the puppets face everywhere. Its made me and lots of other people be forcest away from TV time, lets just say...

  • a good insight into this comes from a book by "jonny green" called "the clash a riot of our own" in fact he's in vidio at 3:21 bending down with the red shirt on sorting the guitar leads. he's also seen later tellin' every one to fuck off when the plugs have been pulled (not part of the film, done by a band can't remember who waiting to come on) trying to get the power back on. good book for clash fans. (no i'm not jonny green trying to plug a book by the way)

  • From 1:25-1:30 do you reckon that's weed that Joe is rolling?

  • Comment removed

  • i've got questions for this one:

    Who pulls out the plugs?

Who's the guy in the black leatherjacket, (bit doped) the one who repeatedly had to yell into the mike at the end?

Does anyone have a clue, they wanna share?

  • the guy in the leather jacket is ray gange, a character from the film that this clip comes from

  • the anti-nazi league must've pulled the plug because they hadn't collected enough money! so then the clash plays white riot?

  • 4:10 anti nazi league.

  • AROUND 4:50 WHAT R THEY FIGHTING ABOUT

  • lol. what is that dude singing white riot wearing?

  • The other guy singing White Riot is Jimmy Pursey from Sham 69

  • hell yeah!

  • could never stand listening to that prat ray

  • Everybody is sitting around watching television (youtube)

  • @CosmicSpots

    Ha ha ha, to true...

I don't watch television... only YouTube

  • who's the other guy?

  • Actor Ray Grange, he was kinda the central figure in the film Rude Boy.

  • i was there as well and joe must have planted a seed in my head. he got through to me thats for sure. EAT THE RICH !

  • i was there...i never understood then , but i do now....time's are coming again

  • Joe did die poor so he never did sell out

  • if he would have become rich it wouldnt of changed him. he was for the music man. music can do things money cant

  • Yeah, like how he used to let people without tickets in to see his gigs through the back door. It was never about the money. TOP BAND!

  • money meant nothing to him. it was the fame he enjoyed.

  • Thats true.... In the same way that Hitler was a Jewish Communist.

  • ahahah! You made my day, wonderful.

And I do love clash and left wing politics. Paul Simonon is my god. So is Joe. and mick. Topper

  • Forget film, The Clash were fantastic on vinyl and now cd. music + entertainment = bands putting out crap. ROOOOCK

  • If The Clash really was indeed "The Only Band that Matters", they deserved a better film than this. If you ever saw 'em back in the day, you know just how exciting it was. This movie doesn't do the experience justice, but then again, it really wasn't trying to,

While this movie gets some props for attempting to merge drama with a documentary, it really leads to nowhere

  • "there's nothing there, I'm sure of it"

  • leftism at its best, speculative.

  • lmao, yeah the other guy in this video is a real einstein.

  • @cpettoni Correction: "There's nofhing there, I'm sure of it."

  • Comment removed

  • awsome vid go joe

  • Joe strummer + John lennon equals Spendid bliss

  • john lennon? wtf?

  • Oooooooh they're so cool! Paul is my lover (L) (Joe, Topper & Mick too!)

  • The week before Joe died he was promoting a fire fighters trade union, and how about you actually listen to their songs please before coming up with a load of rubbish.

  • Sod off!

  • I don't really get into the bigger performances, like Joe says in The future is unwritten like they weren't part of the movement anymore because they are not in among the audience, i fail to get how they sing about it all but they are being controlled by being kept on the stage, don't get me wrong, I love Joe as much as the next guy but it just makes them look manufactured ya know, instead of playing the smaller venues.

  • The Clash had gotten bigger than anyone expected. Near the end they were superstars, they were in term's not punk anymore which is bullshit because they did play the gigantic stadiums yet they were labeled as selling out. They were always and will always be punk.

  • When Joe Strummer died his estate was valued at just under £1 million. He left all the money to his wife.

  • the woody guthrie of punk rock music

  • to be fair their grasp on politics is not that good. im labour but they were a little biased towards the conservatives, specially as thatcher took on people from the clashes backround. they didnt really talk about.policies at all they just pointed fingers and called thatcher a fascist. would it not be the same to call tony blair or gordon brown comunists.socialism is ok until you take it into dictatorship. also it says anti nationalism, should that be privitalism

  • Things havent changed much.. people call Bush a Fasist and Obama a commie socialist

  • That's why they promoted anarchism, a non authoritarian de-centralised left-wing society.

  • Politics is a load of shit, you either support the government or you dont.

  • Pure fucking awesomeness! They truly are the only band that matters

  • y ruin a great concert 4 a bunch of political nonsense?

  • who pull the plug out? nazis?

  • exactly they were all hipocritical bastards.

now im against any from of injustice in britain ecspecially private schools. but the problem is that the clash were just jumping on the band wagon
