Boxing is meant to be like this, their is nothing wrong with a boxer being "punished" the way Holly was. I personally enjoy a boxing match like this. I wish more matches would go like this, the ref should not be responable for the beating she recieved, she knew what she was getting herself into. She now has no way back, as Mathis would annihilate her in any rematch, so she might as well divert into cage-fighting, table dancing or whatever and make whatever bucks she can in the time available to her.
Holm and her people shouldn't even dream about a rematch. Being beaten to a pulp before finally being laid out cold is about the most conclusive way in which to lose a title and the Frenchwoman, who is merciless by nature, could seriously injure her another time around. Even if she adopted different tactics, Holm would be unable to halt the onslaught that would be directed against her and Mathis, aware that the American's punches cannot hurt her, would go for the kill from the opening bell.
I don't know about that as holly would learn her lesson not to get into a slugging match with mathis as she is as brutal as they come. If cecelia defeats anne in april then hollyy will definitely need to watch for mathis's weaknesses and believe all fighters have them.

As far as Holly's corner is concerned, imagine if Danica Patrick had a pit crew that stupid.

@Bushles83 When a powerful puncher gets on top like this, it's inevitable that her opponent suffers punishment. That's the nature of boxing. Even though this fight should have been stopped earlier, there's lots to admire about Holm's bravery and Mathis' finishing skills.

Even if there had been intervention, I think the brutal nature of Mathis' domination would be a plus for women's boxing, proving the integrity and authenticity of two great athletes. I mean, the way Mathis pursued Holly and punished her without mercy was truly impressive. Any thoughts on how Holly should approach a re-match?

These shots would have seriously hurt her!
@Brushles83 you'd be surprised how upset they get when fights are stopped, claiming they were ok (she can drop if she wants to stop)- but showing the replay over & over is pretty messed up
