OMG! This is like one of my favorite songs from the 80's! I remember when this song came out on the radio, the DJ would never and I mean never say who the singer was so I recorded it off the radio on a cassette and kept it for years. Then one day I finally found it here on youtube by typing in the chorus. You could imagine my relief to finally know who it was and now it is on my ipod and I cant get enough of it just like in '85. One of the best songs of the 80's here! I just love it! :-D
At the end of the song when you hear him sing.....the left hold it tight....turn the volume down really low and you can hear their daughter wailing. Read that on George's bio on their website!! Are they married again....saw pictures of him wearing a wedding band but nothing about him getting remarried.
@shmuli9 I was living living in the Southeast US at the time and it got a fair amount of airplay. I too bought the 45 and it still baffles me that this wasn't a much bigger hit nationwide -- it only reached #39 on the Billboard Hot 100.
@RoIn22 I am pretty sure that given the size of the US (Canada, too), songs become popular at different times, because a lot of well-known songs that "only" were modest national hits are well-known.
@RoIn22 I followed music really closely growing up...I went to our local library and photocopied many of the Billboard charts every single week, but I never heard this song in my part of the country (Kansas) nor saw the 45. Odd.
@ab348 Definitely 1985.....Boy Meets Girl's first album which is this one....their self entitled album was 1985 which was before their Reel Life album which was 1988. George Merrill's hair was also short in this video and long in Waiting for a Star to Fall!!
brilliant genious lovely song,i absolutely love it.i had only heard their song " waiting for a star to fall" and fell in love with it,but hearing this makes me apreciate them even more,it's just so 80's and soo cool :):) thanks for the post (it's a bummer though that i cant find it for download anywhere)

I have absolutely loved this song!! I have been looking for this song for a lifetime!! Not an easy song to find and that is tragic because this is just an awesome song for sure! wow, such great memories come with this song, the best really! Such a great era to grow up in! Why it all had to change, I guess that is life but hard to let go of what we loved the most. I will always miss the 80's but I hold the memories tightly in my heart forever. Missing the 80's . 80's forever!!
Actually, tubellarbells, her name was Shannon Rubicam. She and George Merrill went on to write 2 ##1's for Whitney Houston:'How will I know', and 'I wanna dance with somebody.' This 1 itself hit only #39 in Billboard.
I have loved this song since the day it came out and i taped it off the radio back then but i never knew who it was. So it was lost to me until my sis was digging deep into the archives of music on the internet 6 years ago.OMG! You can imagine how excited we were to find it again and to be able to listen to it again after all these years. This song was never truly played enough. It is a great song! I wont lose track of it again. Ever!!80's forever!
@juniebird72 Hello there!! I can see why you like this song. I do too. I never really knew this song very well but it has a really bouncy, punchy, 80s sound. I just love the sounds of the 80s!! And the fashions were so damn cool to!!! :-))
I loved this song when it first came out and heard it on the radio in heavy rotation in Iowa. I just bought the 12 inch a year ago and this tune never loses it's steam. It's smokin'!
I totally dig this cool, quintessential 80s sound; what an amazing electronic beat with great vocalizations!! The quitar ballad beginning at about 2:33 is unbelievable--great talent...!

OH SNAP! I've been looking for this for a while! Thanks for posting! George and Shannon were a highly underrated writing team and performed great together as BMG!
well on the official boy meets girl website, they say that the plot revolved around a fictional break-up between george (lead singer) and shannon (back-up and other half of the duo). and so, no it isn't.
btw, if anyone has 'the touch' from boy meets girl's self-titled debut LP, can they please post it on this site. thanks
I'm a Whitney Hoston fan and I am always curious at what Whitney's producers own songs contain. My dream would be for the pair to reunite with Whitney and write the KILLER comeback single!
You're welcome. Funny thing -- when I put this up, I wrote to the contact link on the Boy Metts Girl website for permission. What I got back was a lovely note from Shannon Rubicam herself (the girl in this video on whom I've had a crush for 23 years) thanking me profusely, because they didn't have it themselves. I just assumed that the artists would have all this stuff. Shannon's note literally made my week, and I'm so happy I was able to help the group out.
