Thanks so much. I spent almost 3 hours today and countless hours over a week trying to set up mail (with yahoo) that kept glitching. Tried thunderbird, and so on. HATED it! Still love mac mail, and now I'm able to use it even more cause I can READ my inbox through it too! Love it.

dose it cost anything to get pop mail from gmail because yahoo charges for it?

IMPORTANT

Always set the mailboxes correctly, by for example selecting "Gmail/Drafts" and going to "Mailbox" menu then "Use This Mailbox For" then "Drafts". This will then move the Gmail drafts to be under the Drafts list in your Mail.app client.

Do likewise for Sent, Trash, and Junk.

Took me hours to find this out, as otherwise they are all bunched together at the bottom of the mailboxes!

I know I moved fast, but I'm very sorry for this..

By the way, if you are running OS X 10.5 Leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard, this is not necessary. Both of those versions of OS X support gmail out of the box.

When I do this, I keep getting a white Gmail folder. I know it's not a bad thing (right?), but it just seems useless and unremovable. Help, I guess? xD

Yearp - it is possible but I believe there are a few different steps. I'm not to sure though as I don't use Yahoo.

Hi, I just watched your video about setting up GMAIL on mac mail. btw it really helped but I just have one question. When starting up an account it asks for your full name. If I was to put My notebook rather than my full name would the name that appears on my emails be 'my notebook' or would it recognize my real full name using my g mail account?

Hi, glad I helped.

That is a very good question. I'm not sure on that one. Try whatever you want and if it does not satisfy you, you can always change that setting in the Preferences later down the road.

It's a system preference pane called 'Growl.' It works with Twitteriffic and a few other Twitter clients. It also works with things like Skype. It shows when people in etc etc.
