Why anyone has any doubt that Mariah lip syncs at this point is beyond me. She has been doing it for years as her voice has been fading. She sings parts live and parts lipped or sometimes lipped all together. She is a master at it I guess except for here which is why people are so easily fooled. Her abilities as a live singer have never been that great, she shines in a studio environment. And when she was younger and actually singing she did great. She wasn't singing dribble like Touch My Body.

she does sing live but theres times she dont but some singers have to lip sync if needed right? :P but she mostly sings live when she sings you can hear her breath while shes singing well on some :O but she sings rlly good so thats why some ppl think shes lip syncing :P

This is not obviously not a case of a backup singer singing just like her. It was a back-track. Seems like she said "stop singing my part, now baby" just to cover up the fact that backup was playing. And then she went on to sing the part herself. She did a pretty damn good job of figuring the situation out, addressing it and belting it out there on the spot in the span of a few seconds. Only the pitches on "body" were off, but the run was perfect.

i love this performance.. cuz even mariah was surprised.. so it was kinda natural and live. i can imagine if that track didnt damaged.. it would be another of the common and great mariah's perfomrance.. but this was a real and greta performan.. i liked it. the track should damage consntantly :)

Really MiKeNMiMi86, if you were convinced she did no lip-syncing there would be no need for your huge explanation. Mariah always lip-syncs the first bit of this song, and on this particular performance, playback messed up and she had to wait and go 'hey hey' until the part when she comes in live.

i'm sure he's talking about the "touuuch my body" at the end. In the beggining it ws certainly a backtrack. But the "touuch my body" was meant to be lipsynch, because she always lips that part on this particular song.

that part is never lipped because it sounds very different in ever live performance...the only parts that has a back track is the begining the middle verse...the parts of "if theres a camera..." and the end loud parts is always live...the touch my body verse has a back track too

Sorry. But that part is lipped. It's right from the cd and they just add the live chorus from her back-up singers. In this case here she did it live because the usual back-track came earlier. But she always lips that part.

Na dude, she sings live throughout the entire performance. If you listen carefully you can hear her humming in the beginning over the track. There are very few spots in the song when she has the back-track or back-up singers do it alone.

...and good thing that they indeed turned it off right away, because it could've made things a lot worse. But just like Ashlee Simpson blamed her band after her SNL disaster, this one here blamed her background singers, who have been covering her ass for the past 10 years. Very classy. Bleeeeeet! Well at least she pulled it off okay and didn't leave the stage like the "supertalented" Simpson sister. This only shows that MC can still sing live (kind of) but she's too lazy to do so.

Haha! This is a classic performance. It could've turned out to be a big disaster coz no one actually knows if it was a backup singer who messed up or if it was the playback vocals. Either way Mariah turned it out and made it a good performance, in my opinion.

Yea Trey Lorenz started to sing her part to early...I'm assuming he was suppose to sing it with her at the sametime so there would be a thicker volume. There were some technical difficulties in the beginning too. If you listen carefully she skips the first verse because they were skrewing up, so she was just using her whistle register a bit then went into the chorus. Haha I just noticed you can hear me say I smell the reefer lol...someone was smokin trees at the beginning of the song.
