Xbox 360 showing early signs of an E 74 error

Dude! The same thing was happening to mr while I was playing cod 4, about 2 years ago. My screen blurred, turned of the console saying wtf! Then I got the e74 code..

My first 360 lasted 1 year, i then bought the elite, had it for 1 1/2 years now and its now starting to show signs of getting RROD.

@bangdupnshot1 There is no way to fix it yourself other than opening it up which voids the warranty you get from Microsoft. Might as well send it in to be safe.

@amanda4cheer I personally don't know of any way to fix it. I have heard about the towel trick you can do with it, but from what i've heard it fixes it temporarily but it's still bound to mess up again but this time even worse. I don't think this type of error is covered under Microsoft's 3 year warranty. :/

good thing that my xbox is jesus it has been kicked,dropped,slammed and it had 3 different red ring errors and it still works i have had it since 2006 and i never had it fixed

All this crap cause Microsoft was really stupid on the 360's design. No space for DVD driver, what they made? Reduce heat sinks size! Greeeat idea!!!

This happened to me yesterday and I almost bought a new copy of Modern Warfare 2 but then when I turned the console back on the E74 happened.

I got my XBOX in 2008 and it's had a long run by standards of my friends who all had red rings in the first year. Oh well. Now I just have to wait a couple weeks to get it back.

I was on dashboard when it went down. I was wondering why the hell my avatar was going all fuzzy so I rebooted my console and bang! E74. Glad I got extended warranty this time around.
