Beatles, Prince, Ozzy, to name but a few. Cherone is a rock screamer, and when his voice was "young" he could pull this off, but nowadays...well, you've heard this clip!!

If I had a dollar for every time Gary missed a note I'd be a millionaire! Great vocal tone in the studio, but the guy sucks live! Don't get me wrong, Extreme is my fave band of all time, but Cherone disappoints every time I see them or hear them live (check out 4:33). Nuno is a guitar god, and for my money the best guitarist of all time. The guy can play anything: acoustic, funk riffs, speed-of-light solos, and tasty melodies.

its a slight of hand thing made famous by Eddie Van Halen ,i can do it , it takes a while to learn , but basically what you do is flick the pick from your thumb and index into the pit of your middle finger, alot of practice but its worth it, it makes switching between picking and tapping

I hear more soul in Gilberts playing than in Petrucci.

Petrucci may HAVE slow solos but they dont sound good to me at all. The fact that Petrucci acts like a robot on stage doesnt make it better.

Actually I can't see any soul on Paul's playing. Without his shredding is left with nothing. Petrucci is a very good composer, unlike Paul, and even though he displays his virtuosity a lot he can deliver amazing slow solos, plus he has a much broader knowledge of music.

In other words, Paul is a one trick pony. A very good trick that is, but Petrucci is a much better musician.

Petrucci have several records where Dream Theater have explored everything there is about progressive music and more.

Is very simple, really, any good musician can't stand listening Paul for more than 2 minutes. It becomes monotonous after the shredding "wow" factor is gone.

Petrucci has MUCH more to offer, and any record from Dream Theater -even if you don't' like the band- contains more musicality that Paul's whole carrier.
