Maybe someone can clarify something for me. I see AirFrance and Swiss Int. both use the A340 with these smaller "coffee grinders". Lufthansa A340's have considerably larger engines on them. Is there a big difference and if so, what is the reason?

The only other Jet to this day given the "Jumbo" moniker is the A380 in which case Airbus cheezily (not a real word) riffed on Jumbo, by calling it a "Super Jumbo" this was done as an uncreative and lame shot across the bow of boeing since it claimed the size crown for passenger aircraft.

It is missleading for people to find this video when searching for jumbo, a big pet peeve and general no no on youtube. Wide body is a classification, Jumbo is a Nick Name and are generally specific to "something". The other side of the coin is that naming something like this wrongly just creates buzz and views and comments, so I would say Job well Done, even if he is a bastard for doing that ;o)

Nope. The 747 is still moving on. The 747-8 is now airborne and has orders coming in for both freighter and passenger variants. It is the most fuel-efficient, technologically-advanced version of the 747 to date. And Boeing doesn't suck government tit like EADS/Airbus does.

The addition of 787 engines and a little extra room--along with a redesigned wing--makes the 747-8 the newest best plane out there.
