It's fast, it shows what you need and how to do it, but keep your fingers on the pause button. The speed makes the video perfect to look at the 2nd time around.
Btw. I love the erratic mouse movement, makes you wanna start coding !
Normally I don't respond to comments like this, but I have to ask...
ever heard of a pause button?
"stop moving the pointer that much"? huh? You mean the mouse? Are you seriously that easily distracted?
"I'm going to read the some tutorial instead.." What does this even mean? Do you mean the tutorial that I provided you links to? I guarantee 100% you will be back watching this vid tutorial over and over, unless, of course, you are just a flake that thinks this is all supposed to be easy.
I was just suggesting that ppl that watching your videos would like to just watch 1 or 2 mins of video and then follow it as opposed to pausing the video and then manually changing the frames - becouse this is only way to see what exacly you are doing..
I'm just trying to help - if i'm not, just forget that I ever wrote anything :P
This was the ONE tutorial online that actually worked when you followed along exactly. This is SOO important for people just learning a new technology. Sad to say that none of the other tutorials i tried worked correctly, not even Hibernates intro tutorial. They really should be ashamed of themselves, and If i was the dudes boss who wrote that non functional tutorial, i would have just let him go.
Hmm, appreciate the effort put into this vid, but I have to say after watching a 10 minute video in fast forward I'm not really sold on hibernate being easy to configure and use.
Trust me, I know what you mean, but my point here is to do a basic manual setup, in line with one of the best beginner docs out there. Once you understand the setup it is not terribly challenging thereafter, and in the real world you would likely use an auto-mapping application. In the end, its not as good for control as a standard Java/SQL solution, not as easy to use as . Net's LINQ to Entities (Java never is as easy IMO) but still an excellent advancement for rapid development.
actually you even do not have to write the *.hbm.xml files on your one, you can use for example hibernate xdoclet annotations directly in your class which should be made persistent. So the xml files will be generated for you.
But for beginners this might be the best way to understand the stuff.
Really nice video, it's much better than other video tutorials: one does not have to listen to the author's tiresome voice (there are subtitles to comment the events), and the tutorial is really fast, right to the point, showing exactly the right things one needs to do to get the information.
This is really really good.. one of the best videos of Quick Tutorials I had seen ever! :-)
Love it! thanks for all your effort..
I paused and rewinded and watched this video like 4 times easily now .. to get everything.. thought it was fast.. the content was to the point.. gr8 job! :-)
Thanks! It was wee bit too fast, could you explain how you could paste different code and files at different times? I tried before reading this tutorial, I made it working, but I got more log on the standard output than you did, it displays all initialization information for hibernate. Could you explain how you avoid all this information?
OMG !!!
Wow, I have to say, brilliant job!
I really appreciate the effort.

hibernate.cfg.xml and log4j.properties suppress hibernate output. I have added a link in the video description to the source code.
