Recently Resident Evil Retribution's main theme is the same as TRON legacy. I surely hope they dont do somthing like that.
Also I think the cast of smallville could fill out for superboy and girl. Tom welling would be a intresting superboy, and the girl who played supergirl also and rosumbalm as a young lex clone. I just with DC would give us some of they gems on screen that they put on paper. At least they gave us the music this one. I wonder what theme they will use for the new MAN OF STEEL in 2012.

If dan radcliff had died after harry potter 2 like the man who played dumbledoor in the first two, they would have re cast another to play harry, probley somone who looked like dan. Some people dont relize that superman retuns takes place right after superman 4. they used the same music from that movie series cause it is a continuation of that set.

Superman Returns! watched it 3 times (music), including the premier in Madrid... everytime i went out of the movie theater, i had to convince myself it was a good movie...i wud say Brandon Routh is reasonable as Superman and very decnt as Clark Kent. Kevin Spacey is AWESOME no matter what he does, and the movie has tried to maintain the essence of the original one....BUT i didnt like Lois! just like i never liked Kirsten Dust in Spiderman! and then i saw Batman Begins! Superman Returns is TRASH
John Williams is certainly one of the best film score composers. The Superman main theme is a bit simple, not the most brilliant musical idea he ever had, but if you listen accurately some passages, especially at the begining of this track, just after the main theme overture, you'll recognize the beautiful influence of Stravinsky. And if you listen accurately the immediate passages after the main theme in Star Wars (1977), you'll recognize the powerful influence of Holst (The Planets!).
@punkzorr I'm pretty sure Snyder already said J William's theme will not be used. It's my favorite score, but after Returns, I think the score proved to be too much nostalgia and didn't give a sense of awe and wonder to new fans like I thought it would. It's been used too much as a parody of Superman. Think Seinfeld, etc. Superman 4 used the theme and that didn't do much. I'd like a whole new approach.

Hans Zimmer would make Superman into Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, 3, and 4, and Inception etc. He hasn't made an original epic score since The Lion King and an original score since The Holiday. James Newton Howard would be a perfect fit for Superman, as he is the Superman of composing.

The plane sequence is utterly fantasticif action is your thing, and while I do think there are too few moments of Superman heroics, SR, to me, immediately went into the best superhero movies list!

@TheCosmicFireStar There is now news on the internet that the brand new movie will include the story of Krypton and feature Superman's birth parents- Jor-El and Lara-Van. It is unknown at this time if it will actually begin that way or if it will just be featured as a flashback when Clark Kent is learning what he really is and where he comes from- but they say Krypton will actually be a world made up of cities and not just an ice planet made up of crystals. I hope all of this is actually true.

I personally can't really undersand this notion people have that a later film can somehow ruin an earlier film. I dislike the later Underworld and Riddick films but that hasn't diminished my love for the original Underworld and Pitch Black.
@porcellusstudios I actually like that one. It is silly and different from the first two, but it still looks like it goes with the series. The fourth one was made by different producers and it is obvious it was not really necessary as all it did was a completely stupid story that had no importance to the series at all. @himynamelscolin Brandon Routh wanted to play Superman again, but the studio would not let him because the producers thought audiences would mistake the reboot for a sequel. Henry Cavill wanted to play Superman in "Superman Returns", but he got turned down because Bryan Singer thought he looked too young for the part. So I think it is right he gets to play him this time- you need a different actor for a story that is restarting its very own series. I hope the next movie is exactly what I want.
Maybe you all already know this, but here is what I heard.
When Christopher Reeves had mostly finished shooting the 1st Superman movie, he was apparently disillusioned with the movie. But when he attended John Williams' recording of Superman's theme, he felt his spirit rise high with a sense of might.
Now it's confirmed the new Superman will be played by a Brit I think he should be called "SuperSpiffingGreatWhatWhat"-Man ( said in an English upperclass tone )!!
I wished they introduce one of Superman's other main villains like Braniac. Granted it took place five years after Superman II but I think most people got tried of seeing Lex Luthor as the main or at least secondary villain. Superman Returns was a good comic book movie and with another chance to build upon people would have seen improvements from Returns to whatever Singer was going to do in the sequel. But the very vocal minority of supes fanboys spoke therefore another reboot to a reboot.

Looking at the poster for this movie always has me wishing "Superman Returns" had been a reboot about a young Clark Kent in his first year as Superman. They could have skipped everything involved in the origin story such as the destruction of Krypton, the Kents finding baby Kal-El after his rocketship crashed, and Clark Kent discovering all of his powers when he is just a boy. But this should have introduced Superman as if he was beginning his very own series- then there might have been sequels.
@JLC31383 Agreed. It would have also helped if Superman wasn't a stalker, Lois didn't have a bastard child with Superman, and Superman didn't act like he was in a teenage romance film. These things prevented the film from banking like The Dark Knight did later. Not that Superman needs to be dark and brooding, not at all...but he has to be the "Boyscout" to Batman's "Caped Crusader". Just my opinion.
Other than this, I thought SR was pretty good. Could have been better, though.
@SpeedingStudent I hear the reboot planned for 2012 hopefully will be based off of the short mini-series "Superman: Birthright". That was an update for the origin of Superman in the 21st century, so it probably would be the best idea to go by for a new movie. They started it off with Clark Kent as an adult and already aware of all of his superpowers, so that can make up for not having to restart with Krypton. It had him as a young journalist travelling the world and doing a story in West Africa.

The Superman theme from John Williams is simply a force of nature - there cannot be better theme for a superhero like Superman than this - the music is majestic and appropriately triumphant ! for some one who loved the Superman folklore right from childhood(thanks to my father!) there is no better phrase than Up Up and Away !!!
This is the Returns theme. John Ottman composed this and based it on John Williams original theme. Go listen to the John Williams version of the march. From 0:25-1:20, you get John Ottman's original composition, which then segues into John Williams' theme. Bryan Singer refused to do this movie without the original music, so when Ottman was scoring it, that meant having to reuse or reinterpret a lot of the old work that Williams did.
I think I am going to cry If this theme comes up & Tom Welling's name fly to the screen. I sure hope he is going to take the role of Superman In future films.

Bryan Singer was a bad choice because he REALLY wanted the job. I understand dream projects, but he was invested in it WAY too much.

Because they want the reboot to turn out like Dark Knight and be a success, thats what Hollywood is like my friend, they take the franchises that we hold dear to our childhood and they turn them into reboots so they can sell it to audiences in the hopes of making alot of money, whether its good or bad they get there money, I guess they chose not to make a sequel because of Superman2, 3, 4 Quest for Peace & Superman Returns, I doubt The Man of Steel reboot will better the original1978

@TheCosmicFireStar There is now news on the internet that the brand new movie will include the story of Krypton and feature Superman's birth parents- Jor-El and Lara-Van. It is unknown at this time if it will actually begin that way or if it will just be featured as a flashback when Clark Kent is learning what he really is and where he comes from- but they say Krypton will actually be a world made up of cities and not just an ice planet made up of crystals. I hope all of this is actually true.

I personally can't really undersand this notion people have that a later film can somehow ruin an earlier film. I dislike the later Underworld and Riddick films but that hasn't diminished my love for the original Underworld and Pitch Black.

@porcellusstudios I actually like that one. It is silly and different from the first two, but it still looks like it goes with the series. The fourth one was made by different producers and it is obvious it was not really necessary as all it did was a completely stupid story that had no importance to the series at all. It was just crap thrown together to release another movie with 'Superman' in the title and Christopher Reeve as the star. I hold that responsible for causing "Superman Returns".

@himynamelscolin Brandon Routh wanted to play Superman again, but the studio would not let him because the producers thought audiences would mistake the reboot for a sequel. Henry Cavill wanted to play Superman in "Superman Returns", but he got turned down because Bryan Singer thought he looked too young for the part. So I think it is right he gets to play him this time- you need a different actor for a story that is restarting its very own series. I hope the next movie is exactly what I want.

Maybe you all already know this, but here is what I heard.
When Christopher Reeves had mostly finished shooting the 1st Superman movie, he was apparently disillusioned with the movie. But when he attended John Williams' recording of Superman's theme, he felt his spirit rise high with a sense of might.

I wished they introduce one of Superman's other main villains like Braniac. Granted it took place five years after Superman II but I think most people got tried of seeing Lex Luthor as the main or at least secondary villain. Superman Returns was a good comic book movie and with another chance to build upon people would have seen improvements from Returns to whatever Singer was going to do in the sequel. But the very vocal minority of supes fanboys spoke therefore another reboot to a reboot.

Looking at the poster for this movie always has me wishing "Superman Returns" had been a reboot about a young Clark Kent in his first year as Superman. They could have skipped everything involved in the origin story such as the destruction of Krypton, the Kents finding baby Kal-El after his rocketship crashed, and Clark Kent discovering all of his powers when he is just a boy. But this should have introduced Superman as if he was beginning his very own series- then there might have been sequels.

@JLC31383 Agreed. It would have also helped if Superman wasn't a stalker, Lois didn't have a bastard child with Superman, and Superman didn't act like he was in a teenage romance film. These things prevented the film from banking like The Dark Knight did later. Not that Superman needs to be dark and brooding, not at all...but he has to be the "Boyscout" to Batman's "Caped Crusader". Just my opinion.
Other than this, I thought SR was pretty good. Could have been better, though.

@SpeedingStudent I hear the reboot planned for 2012 hopefully will be based off of the short mini-series "Superman: Birthright". That was an update for the origin of Superman in the 21st century, so it probably would be the best idea to go by for a new movie. They started it off with Clark Kent as an adult and already aware of all of his superpowers, so that can make up for not having to restart with Krypton. It had him as a young journalist travelling the world and doing a story in West Africa.

The Superman theme from John Williams is simply a force of nature - there cannot be better theme for a superhero like Superman than this - the music is majestic and appropriately triumphant ! for some one who loved the Superman folklore right from childhood(thanks to my father!) there is no better phrase than Up Up and Away !!!

This is the Returns theme. John Ottman composed this and based it on John Williams original theme. Go listen to the John Williams version of the march. From 0:25-1:20, you get John Ottman's original composition, which then segues into John Williams' theme. Bryan Singer refused to do this movie without the original music, so when Ottman was scoring it, that meant having to reuse or reinterpret a lot of the old work that Williams did.
