  • werent really dark ages tho. islamic civilization kept humanity afloat

  • @iorixs No, it kept Humanity at war..because thats all its about.

  • Had a few at the pub?

  • he he drunk ?

  • Constantine was declared emperor in 306 AD at York. Honorius pulled Roman troops out of Britain in 410 AD due to sack of Rome by the Goths under Alaric who were looking for a new homeland since their territory came under pressure from the Huns,

  • nice kirten , whats the diploma on the wall , well history is basically a lie anyway their are dozens of different versions on the colapse of rome , barbarian as a word is propaganda from rome as is the dark ages more propaganda, life after rome was much better hard miserable work but less violent than the feral romans

  • Christianity was the main reason for the dark ages and why it collapsed. They were the ones that burned all the books, destroyed all the temples, and persecuted the Pagans. If you read the bible it is a very violent book that would saction such acts. Hence the dark ages. After the triumph of the Christ everything went down.

  • @shocker4urbrain

Nonsense. How did the pagan myths, literature, jurisprudence etc survive till this very age were it not for the monks who copied & recopied these in the monasteries in times when printing presses did not exist?

  • democracy, science, and technology are the biggest bore on the face of the earth. we would be better off living in villages without all the MTV, nuclear bombs, unnecessary bullshit like 401k's, and "democracy" and all of its omnipotent moral busybodies who want to run our lives.

  • Yes but the human is a social animal so all those things you mentioned are a product of our combined interaction with each other and the environment throughout history. No man or woman is truly independent so either you adapt and integrate in a positive way or clock out.

  • Who performs this wonderful soundtrack ?

  • technology would've advance 1000+ years if christianity never existed... its a shame that that its religion that took over europe after the fall of rome and not other democratic civilization

  • I totally agree. We would be better off if we'd still be pagan.

  • yeah... like, slaves and superior races. europeans are best at such topic. especially if Christianity indeed did not exist.

  • I don't get your point. It is true that many peoples enslaved other peoples before Christianity. It is also true that many people felt superior over other races before Christianity. But this has most definitely happened too AFTER Christianity. The Europeans have enslaved many Africans for working on the plantains during Christianity. And Christians felt and feel superior over other religions. This is not a thing of the past and certainly not a thing of paganism.

  • Really? I think Roman or Greek Paganism was worse. The Chinese were even better even if the Hans were racist.

  • Religion is not the cause of slaves but greedy men. No matter how good your religion is, people have their own colors imprinted on their goddamn genes. These traits make them greedy, and these greediness make them want to have slaves. Religion has nothing to do with that for before Christianity slavery existed. Slavery in Rome is rampant so as much of the western world.

  • Then we are of one mind. I thought you were accusing paganism in particular of slavery and superior feeling. But I think we can agree that humans of all religions and from all continents are cruel. Such is the human nature. I can not agree that Europeans excel above others in such cruelty. Look at the Aztecs, or a lot of Africans nowadays? We may have done some shitty things, but they sure as hell have too! But I agree that slavery and religion are seperate issues.

  • Consequently, Christianity kept most classical text and other documents alive. So really if it was not for the rise of Christianity most documents in Europe would have been lost. Also, there was no such thing as the dark ages in the first place. Roman bishops such as Gregory of Tours in Gaul kept learning and control intact. After all it was the bishop of Rome who collected taxes in the city to send Attila the Hun away. Therefore, Chrisitanty had the reverse effect in early medieval Europe.

  • And let's not forget the Byzantine Empire, which was a bastion of civilization for almost 1000 years after the fall of the western empire.

  • Though some Christian monks kept records, and most of the documents in Medieval Europe were preserved by those monks, the Christian clergy did keep the population dumb. Yes, there was a lot of information stored by them but it was not distributed amongst the people, so they didn't learn. So we can thank those Christian monks for saving those old documents, but don't go around saying that the Dark Ages weren't that Dark. The people were stupid and were kept that way.

  • Most people blame the barbarian invasions for the Dark Ages. The truth is that the new Christian authorities in Rome were as much to blame for that. Taxes that would normally go to funding the army were spent on paying for Church and its priests. And although monasteries are cited as having retained knowledge through the centuries, the Church had often suppressed knowledge and even forbade most people from having an education. Knowledge was retained at Byzantine archive and by Muslim scholars.

  • Not a bad Eddie Izzard impersonation...

  • lol he sounds just like eddie izzard ... "SO YES" "umm" just not as funny

  • He's confusing Constantine the Great with Canstantine III. Very funny tho!

  • The dark ages were the years when we got rid of the Romans.

When they came back, they started writing history again.

When the "lights cam back on", we were all somehow roman christianized, again.

The ORmans had many supporters here when they left, so thye got back in eventually.

  • Nope, its no good. I'm still in the dark. Must be my age........

  • wow i don't get how your videos look so good like with all those effects and in the beginning

  • Wasn't entirely like I remembered it, but maybe I'm getting it mixed up with the Colorful Ages. Five Stars.
