  • i read a few comments.the ship he wanted to use was the edmund fitzgerald or called the fitz.im sure everybody heard about that boat lol lol.but the families asked him nicely to not use it,so he agreed.then he came up with this song.

  • Was only watching this episode yesterday, love this song, I miss this programme, its all too easy to forget how good it was, well written, funny and great incidental music scores, amazon time I think!!!

  • @Lynneswolf I was watching it yesterday as well, I felt let down by parts of it, like the fire extinguisher escape, but at the same time I loved the episode. I was especially impressed with the part when Fraser was telling Kowalski about the Robert MacKenzie, that was so haunting I thought he might have actually been talking about a real ship!

I've always thought it was a strong show, at it's best with David Marciano!

  • My mother and I just 2 or 3 weeks ago found Due South on the $5.00 rack at Target and have been watching it non stop but thats not important whats important is that Due South is a damn good show.

  • He part wrote Due South,Miss the show n the funny episodes :)

  • Liked older sam beckio better

  • @Kingkahn222 ITS RAY VECHIO YOU FUCKING MORON.

  • @Kingkahn222 UP YOURS I HAVENT WATCHED SHOW IN 4 FUCKIN YEARS!

Got mixed up with Quantum Leap i think

  • Paul Gross = Very talented man. Loved him on Due South and now that I have seen this it has re-kindled my love for him. Thnx for posting

  • god i remember this!!!

  • Hot and talented what a combination wish he would make another album

  • due south is the best show ever love him!!!!

  • is it just me, or after wotchin this did paul gross get even hotter then possible!?

  • I absolutely love Due South!

Third series is no where near as good as the first two, became too cartoonish but still a great show.

    Brilliant song too.

  • "Hear me call across the waves, if I don't come home tonight I'll make it home someday!" the Great Lakes have even more ghost ship stories than the oceans do.

  • Mountie on the Bounty. Utterly rediculous and uttery Canadian. I saw Gross as Hamlet on Halloween night at Stratford. Olivier, Gielgud, don't have a patch (of course they did great, but Halloween?) It was a nightmare bookingwise ( swaping shifts, days off...)

  • Didn't they also use this song in the 1st season, when they were sneaking into Canada following Leslie Nielson--when they had the original Ray? They bribed someone with a watch I think...

  • @sjbaum no i dont recall hearing this song. i recently rented the first season and totally forgot about this song until i heard it in an interview a moment ago lol they did another song about a ship called Henry Martin by Figgy Duff.. in the Gift of the Wheelman episode.

  • Didn't they also use this song in the 1st season, when they were sneaking into Canada following Leslie Nielson--when they had the original Ray?

  • @sjbaum In a documentary made for the British ITV channel Paul Gross mentioned that they'd originally originally wanted to use another song, based on a real sunken ship. But families of the people who died on that ship were against the idea.

Therefore Paul and his team came up with an original song for this episode, complete with the background story of a fictional sunken ship.

  • @lennier1 the wreck of the scott fitzgerald was the song they wanted to use. The only thing that spoiled this episode was the fact that when Faser is explaining to Ray the history of the Robert Macenzie, he quotes verbatum from the song... Which he wrote. Don't get me worng its a fantastic song and a fantastic series, it just seems a bit lazy.

  • Thank you for honoring the memory of the Ed Fitz! What an awesome episode!

  • sounds like Bruce Springsteen, Awesome song, awesome show.

  • what I don't understand is that so many people loved "Due South" why don't they bring it back..

  • @t5y665yrty56

he looks nothing like Geraint Wynn Davies! Geraint is a good looking man, but Paul Gross is so much better looking and is far more talented!

  • Paul Gross-what hottie! to bad this show got cancelled, i loved watching it. Who knew he could really sing? He could sing anything to me i wouldn't care, just so i could look into those eyes.

  • @MsBubbles66 -- Absolutely super hot!

  • @MsBubbles66 If you have the channel 'Alibi' then it's back on there.

28,000 tons of coal on a cold November day

800 feet and 10 more long, 80 feet across

The steel mills of Detroit our destination through the frost

At 2 a.m. on the second, waves were running up to 40 feet

Winds were blowing 60 miles, our engines crankin' heat

At 3:13 we took a wave, our wheelhouse left behind

The radar slipped beneath the waves, and we were running blind..."

...32 down on the Robert McKenzie!!!

  • wre did u get the footige

  • This is the video that was made for the song when it came out. Gross talks about it in an interview on one of the extras on the Network due South set. Most of the video can also be found on the Network due South set.

  • Paul Gross, great face, nice voice, writes a powerful song, too.

This was written in place of true saga, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" Bravo, guys!

  • i liked it

  • Good to start with some bagpipes to evoke the unbreakable North Atlantic links beween all the Brisitsh Isles and North America! Without the Scots the British Empire would have sumk without a trace!
