  • Sounds rather tense and contrived, very much like the performer's facial expression which reflect a lack of convinction and genuine sentiment for the piece and more of a love of oneself for just playing it.

  • Beautiful - and of great interest because played on a "Liszt" piano!

  • Bravo.

  • I wonder why every Pianist does this stupid face expressions even, after the piece has finished for a long time..

  • Very beautiful, inspired and inspiring performance!

  • I have to say, though this is really the best interpretation of the piece I heard so far, something of this piece bothers me... On the one hand, it is beautiful, on the other somehow disturbing... I guess the harmonics seem quite banal to me....

  • Beautiful!!!!! I luv this piece!!!!

  • perfect, you´re listen to your music playing, that´s it, wonderful instrument

  • Stupenda questa Consolazione! E quel pianoforte ha un suono da spettacolo. Bravissimo!

  • Listening once again and ever a newly felt delight. BRAVO dearest Sandro. Do let me know when and where you will be performing. Much much love, Rose Marie

  • Makes me sad, but in a good way (if that makes sense)

  • He just makes it look so easy... *sigh*

  • Liszt: Consolation No.3 in D flat major Known Be This Awakened Heart The coolness of morning dew upon leaf The gentle ripple of moving waters The caress of soft winds The feel of shimmering veils in sounds I hear The embrace of each piano key And known be this awakened heart. In loving gratitude, Rose Marie Raccioppi Poet Laureate Franz Liszt 1811-1886 Consolation No. 3
  • Dearest Sandro, Ever in gratitude ... and in haiku reflection...

    music's knowing call

    love's sweet sounding embrace heard

    held I in its lure.

  • A very otherworldly sound, as if we're seeing through a window in time. The musician has immense control, and truly understands the intent of the composer. Isn't it amazing the emotional impact his skill has on those of us with ears to understand it and hear it?

  • Why does he have to make all those faces? Looks like a gay orgasm, kinda ruins the whole thing...

  • Fascinating to hear this played on a Liszt piano built only about ten years after Liszt composed the piece.

  • Does this old piano have a sustenuto pedal? It certainly sounds like it does.

  • @freethinker923 .... the sostenuto pedal came in quite some years later. When it did Liszt sanctioned its use for this piece [but one need three feet].

  • I liked sounds of this List.s piano, List could not have a bad piano

  • That's a fine performance but I am not a big fan of these very old pianos. The sound is thin and hard to my ears.

  • i dont think its played softly enough, and he doesnt sink into the chords, just my opinion, but take a listen to horowitz's interpretation and you'll see what i mean (its on youtube)

  • Sounds like CHopin ,but I love this~

  • perfect

  • Fabulous interpretation of a wonderful piece on a awesome piano. I personally have owned a Bechstein "parlor grand" piano made in 1882 since 1974 when I purchased it while stationed in Germany. It has a wonderfully light action and the tone is absolutely bell like.....for some it may be too bright but for me it is uniquely beautiful. It is my prized possession and playing it a pure pleasure.

    Thanks!

  • simply beautiful

  • por fin he encontrado a un elegante músico!!!

  • I really like this piano, i just wish i could get the opportunity to play one.

  • Now if people could only get Liszt back to life. :/

  • @gwaur I know, I always think how liszt really played for a pianist to be called the greatest virtuoso who ever lived!.

  • This 1862 Liszt Bechstein grand piano still has a beautiful tone. Bulow performed the premiere of the Liszt Sonata at Berlin in 1857 on a Bechstein grand. It would be very interesting to hear the Liszt Sonata played on this 1862 Liszt Bechstein.

  • This is the best interpretation of this piece I've heard. Not that I heard that many, but it's still the best. Beautifal.

  • Is bechstein 1896 a revival of bechstein liszt piano???

  • Mr. Russo is such an incredible artist- I love the tone and all the colours. The instrument is really beautiful as well. Thank you for posting. :)

  • What an amazing instrument!!!!!!!!!

  • Outstanding!!

  • Bravo!

  • A beautiful music playing as good as Horowitz. Love it. Very touched

  • So beautiful!

  • I think I heard someone crying from your beautiful playing at 4:04-4:06...

  • I've got the newly released DVD of Sandro playing a few romantic pieces on this beautiful Bechstein Liszt piano. What a treat! I must say every single piece of music in that DVD is played with great passion.....so poetic. But I have to admit that Consolation No.3 is definitely my favourite. I've listened to Sandro's interpretation of this piece for more than 50 times now but it still touches my heart every time I hear it!!!

  • That's a wonderful performance. I enjoyed it very much.

  • Yesterday evening I watched this video together with my dear friend Terry and I was totally from this world and she was my eyewitness. I just wasn't able to write a comment then.

Here I am again to tell you how impressed I am and how this piece by Liszt touch me in the deepest of my heart.

    Thank you!

  • What a great and wonderful romantic interpretation of this piece! I enjoyed so much! Thank you Sir Pianist!!!!

  • This is achingly beautiful - what more can I say? Words do not do this breataking performance justice....I am emotionally affected by this .

  • Sandro ************

    Too beautiful performance !!! Bravo!!

I have subscribed to your channel.

    talented artists! : ) ~Terry

  • Thank You! It is really a real pleasure to discover talented artists like Sandro Russo.

  • Goodmorning Antonio!

  • just a beautiful sound. very well playedXD

  • wow x

  • ah...! jolie source musicale qui descent lentement mais surement avec sa douce consolation

  • what a treat to listen to such a beautifully executed Liszt played on an antique piano...never heard of the tone of a piano like that. It makes me wonder if the composer has THAT sound of a particular piano/instrument on his mind when he composed a musical piece. Each instrument has its own character...

    Beautiful

  • Kim and I enjoy this recording so much. You weave the melodies in a spellbinding way that's so hard to describe -- it's like the notes are really coming from far right, left above and echoing in the distance. Textures and colours mix together so poetically, with much artistry and sensibility, just sheer magic. I've heard it played many times, but never as beautifully as this.

  • Your commentary is so beautiful! It is indeed utterly impossible to know where to begin and end in approaching this breathtaking performance by Sandro. To have elicited this gossamer interpretation on a piano which lacks the dynamics and response of today's instruments is especially impressive. I've held my breath while listening, so fervent my desire to hear every last nuance. And, as you say, a hypnotic fascination to watch Sandro's hands in motion here. Warmest wishes to all, ~Terry

  • Beautiful !

  • It's just too beautiful. Can't help watching this over and over again!

  • Sublime, perfect, best performance of this Consolation of all those posted....

  • It moved me to tears.

  • Nicely done, Sandro! That piano sounds exquisite!

  • Your Liszt was immaculate dear Sandro. Love the tone of that piano! JAC

BRAVISSIMO,BRAVISSIMO SANDRO.

  • A moment of pure emotion and poetry...

  • Yes, indeed. I would be very pleased if one day my little daughter could play like this.
