  • good job

  • hey, i have tight vnc and my mate in a few miles from my does to. But how do i connect to him using tight vnc. please could someone help me, if u need more info to help me i'd be more than welcome.

    cheers

  • you'd have to get his ip address. I don't mean the 192.168.1.1 address, the one assigned by the router. like 24.15.191.8. After that he/she will need to open a port on the router to allow access for you.

  • how do i open a port whilst keeping my firewall on?

  • It depends on the router type and model, some allow you to open ports and some don't. You're going to have to go into the router and check. Use a good firewall like Comodo or Zonealarm

  • Very Informative

  • nice look

  • huh? I couldn't understand a word of the ramblings

  • Nice outlook on the whole VNS "trend"..

  • Apologies for posting the same question twice, YT took several minutes to refresh.

  • I have installed TightVNC on two of the computers on my network.

Both computers use XP PRO SP2. TightVNC works without any issues on my wifi network. When I connect to my neighbours' wifi network then try to gain access to my TightVNC server; my attempts fail.

This is how I try to log into my TightVNC server; VNC server: 81.xxx.xxx.xxx, as well as ports 0, 5500, 5800, and 5900 added to the end of my IP.

  • Maybe because tight vnc is defult local.

get a vnc GUI that allows server addressing.

The computer which has TightVNC server installed; does not have any security software installed. I have also disabled the XP firewall.

I have disabled the firewall on the computer I am using to attempt access to the remote TightVNC viewer.

What am I doing wrong ?
