"...and you're listening to 107.1, with ALL the great hits of yesterday! Right now, we're going to groove you back to 1973 and knock you off your platform shoes baby!!!"
@billrobertsbrady UPDATE: we just tested the instrument input on the front and the meters just work fine
but when we plugged the mic as I explained above the VU meters are not moving and we can't hear it on the the headphones but we do hear it on the mixer
what I did is I connected the mic to input mic and from the output going to my little Yamaha mixer.. I can hear the vocals being louder which is good thing but the UV meters are not moving at all.. so not sure what I'm doing wrong?
Has anyone seen a good shoot out between the ISA One versus the Solo 610. Especially I'd like to see a comparison that covers bass guitar, electric guitar and vocals.
@thatniggbeme7 it does not have a tube, but that really doesn't really mean it sounds worse than a tube preamp. Once you get an adequate preamp (which is usually $500 +), the fact that it is tube or not is really just a different flavor, not necessarily a quality upgrade. Some of the best preamp channels are solid state, but not being tube doesn't mean it doesn't sound good. The manley TNT has a tube and a non tube channel, and the non tube just sounds different, not worse (i like it better)
Hey Bill, I have the Foucsrite ISA one Digital , How do you record to your laptop? do you need to connect to a interface? if so any recommendations for a Budget of $300
Hey Bill, I want to get this but how do you record with this Preamp do you need to connect a USB interface with it then connect it to your laptop, help?
im loving my isa 110 its great for the price. avalon 737 is my next up grade but that wont be for a long wile since i feel this isa is doing the job just fine 4 now..
@shoesinthedryer The mic. is the Blue bottle rocket stage 1, with the B8 standard capsule. I wish i knew what the coloration was, I would assume this is a bad thing?
Looking at the video again...I see the B6 box, so it was the B6 on the mic at the time.
I know you have received many comments so far, but I would greatly appreciate if you could tell me what microphone you are using for this recording. Your voice sounds awesome.
I think much of that is due to the inherent timbre of your voice, but just there is also a great quality of the audio that comes through as well.
@roland1313 Thank you Roland. The Mic is the Blue Bottle Rocket Stage one with the standard B8 Capsule.I have had both the B7 & B6 Capsules, but the B8 that comes with the bottle is just right. with the ISA ONE I can get a few different sound out of the same mike, it's like changing heads.
i wish you would do a little more detailed video on the isa one so we can hear all the differences in the sounds this baby puts out. im going to pick mine up may 25th im so juiced:) let me know when u do another vid. i might do 1, 2 looking forward on hearing it thanks!!!
Listen to this guy, he know what he is talking about. Very informative not a backdoor sell. Can't wait for more videos. Please explain the rear connections of this great piece of equipment! t
What soundcard are you using with this Preamp? It has its own converters but you still need a soundcard to take the digital audio to your computer right?
Can you use for example a very basic soundcard that has SPDIF in and another soundcard just for the latency?

Awesome job man!!! The last review sums it up.....Clean, warm, and subtle distortion. Great for major studios and project studios. I will look for your next video.....
I am so surprised that so many people (288) have viewed this is the 2 short weeks of it's posting.
My pre prior to this was a Behringer 502 a $ 49.00 micro mixer, this is really my first exposure to a good mic preamp...and boy is it incredible. My other stuff now sounds to me like I am in a muddy river of noise. I paid $ 450.00 on eBay, and $ 125.00 for the digital ADC card, on eBay as well.
Great Review!!! You are actually recording your vocals through the ISA One to make this video. Accurate, high quality, smooth harmonic distortion. Keep it up!! And yes, I will be purchasing one of these baby's.
If you do get one with a digital ADC card, I make the S/pdif cables. They want 70.00 bucks for the factory cable, I have sold several to Australia and Japan.
You can search eBay:
FOCUSRITE S/PDIF CABLE For ISA ONE ADC Digital Card
$ 20.00 bucks...hey what a little shameless promotion. Thank you for the post.
When I talk about slipping the audio to match the video, I have a delay from recording via Protools 8. The audio that I recorded needed to replace the (Program) monitor that was live, due to the fact that I wanted the master .wav file audio to replace the camera audio.
Please post a comment. The reason I did this was due to the fact that no other videos show the ISA in operation.
(in announcer voice) sounds real good Bill, now back to you
