I was absolutely amazed that world religions did not make a fuss when this came out and Diana brutally murdered the priest and blew the sacred Bible into a million pieces,...on some level it borders on a sacriligious so evil I was amazed it made it to the airwaves,...but then again if Reagan could stab herself down there with a crucifix and utter sexual profanities than i take it anything is passable.

The whole point was that Diana was a villain. Much like in the 1950s "War of the Worlds" which has a similar scene near the beginning, a believer in God went to her in peace.

Showing an alien invader doing that is similar to Nazis, Communists etc. who also imprisoned and killed people who objected to their regimes on religious grounds, even non violent protestors.

Not a "big stink," it was very accurate and shows the guy dying as a martyr trying to get peace.
