  • What if people aren't looking at the world for what it is in a particular way? Should you try to persuade them even if it is disturbing?

  • @mettacrawler i could try to explain to them but its not really my place to convince someone. they must come to it themselves x

  • I've never heard of the ''shadow self'' but I think we all have one. I know that I need ot heal mine. Fantastic video, everything that you said was so wise. I am learning so much from you and becoming a better person. Blessings.

  • I'm sorry about the rudeness :) I have a tendency to come off as rude while only intending to be matter-of-fact, if I can make that distinction.

  • @winstono75 sorry im late to reply i was out having a meal in a lovely taverna in a sweet village :) i will look to see if i can find it xxxx

  • I don't know where you get your terminology from, but according to the most common use of these terms (Jungian), the shadow is not the ego. The shadow is the repressed part of the ego. The Self is beyond both.

  • @winstono75 the ego has many facets as you know. even parts of the ego some may believe to be positive has also got its negative side. think about you. thank you for watching xxxx

  • @Helenhealer Different people use "ego" with different meanings. Just pointing out that your use of the words shadow and ego may cause some confusion, as I have never seen the shadow equated with the ego. The ego is not a repressed part of our personality. It is our personality until we transcend it.

  • @winstono75 thing is...books and education is good but unless we move away from using only what we are taught we never know..we never experience or explore all the other nooks and crannies of ourselves :)

  • @Helenhealer I'm not advocating psychological theories in favor of the spiritual understanding of ego, if that is what you mean. I just think that there is a big enough mess already with the regard to the use of "ego". I'm all for your exploration, but to me the choice of words seems unfortunate. I think there is something to learn from the psychological theories of the healthy ego as well as from the spiritual teachings of transcending the ego, and we need to be aware of both meanings of ego.

  • @winstono75 i agree with you. i think that both spiritual and psychological knowledge/theories etc are imperative learning tools to understand ourselves and others. For me, and this is just my opinion, both of these can be merged together to offer help for both body, mind and spirit.but in the spiritual community, she shadow self is the ego, or part of it, or part's' of it.But we have to remember that just because one person said something, doesnt mean its always right or correct for everyone xx

  • @Helenhealer I think there is a trap for people who are into spirituality that they may learn about the ego and so mentally dissociate from it, without transcending it. In that sense I could understand how you describe the shadow. I do not think it's a good idea to become egoically identified with spiritual ideals so to speak.

  • @winstono75 this is why i would LOVE for you to visit my channel and watch my video on "positive thinking: a healing or a hindrance?" btw i like our conversation even if you WERE rude in the beginning hahaha xxxx

  • @Helenhealer I watched the video, and I absolutely agree with what you are saying about positive thinking. I'm sure you are familiar with A Course in Miracles and/or Eckhart Tolle? They talk about the ego, and how it completely runs our thinking. To me it seems important to recognize how the thought system of separateness underlies our thinking. We can't just decide to think happy thoughts, we need to become aware of what is already driving us to think the way we do.

  • @winstono75 found it! you are so right!you know i was one of them once upon a time where i thought i MUST think positive but then i realised we are being brainwashed into worse circumstances!it keeps us needing them ;) we must face all aspects of ourselves.this is so important for growth in all areas.but ive learnt to have my dark thoughts yet still be happy lol aw you are so intelligent i love it!

  • @Helenhealer And we need to become aware of the underlying need to be separate as the cause of our unhappy thinking. Only by realizing how identified we are with our separate self can we transcend it. And the funny thing is how far the ego even goes along with our spiritual pursuits, still ruling while we think we are embracing cosmic consciousness.

  • @winstono75 i so agree with you.how else can we know thyself? I believe that knowing the self a huge part of not only life but spirituality too

  • Just what I needed...thank you!

  • @blsmitty You are so welcome! :) Blessings xxxx

  • Thank you so much, Angel!!! Blessings of love & lght! xxx

  • Beautiful Helen! Thanks for sharing your hard-earned wisdom....Love. Ralette. xxxxx
