  • Lawl Lawrence is Jelly.

  • Schiff didnt have an answer for him regarding the private school question. He evaded it...not good

  • @mikez565

He didn't evade the question. O'Donnell just didn't give Schiff enough of an opportunity to respond.

  • MSNBC is arguably worse than Fox News in terms of their pundits constantly talking over their guests, and not letting them finish a sentence. That's basically all O'Donnell did here to Schiff. I don't think that constitutes "destroying" Schiff.

  • @DetCrockett7 It's the same with all these anti schiff video. They don't have much material to make him look bad hence the videos that don't make him look bad or the bad that you see is dwarfed by the fact that he was constantly right about quite a few things. I'm not saying hes right about everything but damn give credit where i'ts due. His message just seems to scare some people causing these reactionary videos in an attempt to reaffirm their views as right.

  • @TheScyy

    What was Schiff right about?

  • @DetCrockett7

Schiff had nothing, but stupid things to say, as usual. He doesn't deserve even a bit of courtesy. He got totally pwned.

  • o'donnell is so anoying he always tries to put words in peoples mouth

  • Yeah high costs in New York City has nothing to do with the government.

  • When you are talking about health care costs the problem is insurance and a lack of price transparency.

  • o'donnell is the left wing o'reilly

  • The people are the government and the government is the people. When Republicans say they want to limit the control government has over our lives what they are really saying is they want to limit the control people have over their own lives. Citizens must be able to protect themselves from private industry and government is the tool we use to do so.

  • the reason healthcare is a mess here and not in the rest of the developed world is because of free markets. health is not a supply/demand item...broken legs and cancer don't follow free market fantasies. what does happen is that costs go up, providers have to charge insurers more to cover the uninsured who can't afford it, insurers protect profits by raising premiums and cutting benefits, less people can afford them so more uninsured and around we GO AGAIN. true competition = public option

  • @tyrannosaurusinf14

I like those comments. I get few rational ones on this channel.

  • @tyrannosaurusinf14 Yep. That's why healthcare was so affordable prior to the '60s - Because of the bitchin' "public option".

  • @strych97

No, you can get 1960s medicine much more cheaply now than then. 21st century medicine's much more technology-intensive, and anyway demand for healthcare is relatively high price-inelastic, which is something Schiff doesn't even understand, despite it being basic econ.

  • @AntiSchiff Is that why folks keep telling me that I, "paid about one-and-a-half million dollars more than I should have," for my eMachines desktop? I compared it to a Burroughs B55000 and I thought it was a steal. That thing couldn't even play Skyrim!

Thanks for explaining all this to me. You're a saint.

  • @strych97

There's a huge difference between consumer electronics products and cutting edge medical science. The latter is vastly more expensive and risk-laden, business-wise.

  • ...that market (and I agree with him, but it's not exactly an open-and-shut case that this is so), but Lawrence wants to talk about irrelevant side issues "do you want them to continue to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions" (which BTW would not be nearly as big a problem if HSAs were liberalized), and just tries to talk over him.

Some leftist might find O'Donnell's points compelling, but any honest student of these issues will have lost a lot of respect for mr. O'Donnell.

  • Also, you claim all people opposing your opinion are retards and they should study economics or learn 2 math. The point is - and if you studied economics - that economics is not a nature science where everthing is set in stone. You have a lot of economic paradigma like post-keynesianism, abct, classical theory, etc. Still, you seem dismiss that fact by insulting people who represent other point of view.

And to that day, you haven't explained why PS correctly predicted the crisis...

  • @Melonemelo

If you think Schiff predicted anything, except for maybe some falling real estate prices, then you need to learn to think scientifically before we can even have a conversation.

  • I think government shouldn't run insurances of any kind. But you can't allocate health insurance just to people with money. An libertarin idea is it to have vouchers for that matter. With this capital you could chose your own private health insurance. This would stimulate competition and possibly bring these insurance premiumsdown.

Anyway, Mr. AntiSchiff, in your comments you are always insulting people who oppose your opinion. Instead of using economical theory for backing up your arguments.

  • @Melonemelo

Uh, Obamacare merely requires that people purchase a private insurance plan, with subsidies for those who need it. It also establishes a board to determine what the government is willing to pay for.

Anyone who doesn't like it can get additional coverage at their own cost, so how is that much different?

  • why would someone be anti-schiff? what has he or his done to you? have an opinion that isn't yours?

  • @6503mike

He's an ignorant, socially retarded fraud for starters.

  • hi

  • I'm not comparing fire and health insur...it's obviously not the same thing and there's a heavy importance on health insurance for you and your family. But....I do not think the gov't should be able to tell you you have to purchase health insurance if you do no want to. Theres something called the Consitution which does not grant the gov't the power to do that. Is it smart to have it...yes, dumb not too...yes. But don't tell me I HAVE TO!

  • @HCForrest

First, what's the difference between the individual mandate and a tax? The constitution certainly allows for wealth redistribution if it allows for differential income tax rates, which it does.

Second, health insurance is very much like fire insurance in that the best way to prevent the spread of epidemics is for everyone to have easy access to healthcare.

  • anybody who thinks fire insurance is the same as health insurance is either a grade a idiot or the most dispicable form of human slime imaginable.what sophistry!

  • @dobbsiancant I lost 40 iq points and became retarded after hearing him say that. Fire insurance is only good for people who own homes... Health is for everyone. And fires almost always happen due to negligence.

  • This Peter Schiff is part of the Bank/ Wallstreet Scam.

  • O'Donnell> Schiff.

  • he doesn't even let peter talk. im neutral but odonnel was irrational in this interview

  • @BV10707 Right there with you, theres so little civility anywhere on television anymore that theres no opportunity to learn anything. The only thing this kind of bullying contributes is a totally radicalist and divided population. Totally mindfucked.

  • No wonder Lawrence O'Donnell's show on MSNBC is so highly rated...whaahahahahaha

  • @Antishchiff, "I buy the market monetarist approach to macro econ.

As far as Austrians are concerned, this channel is not for them. I don't give a fuck what they think. " Thanks for the reply, I'm curious to why you don't give a fuck about the Austrian school? You seem a little angry in the way you present it. Is there anything you like about the Austrian school and is there anything you absolutely don't agree with? -Trying to keep an open mind, I want to hear your side. Thanks!

  • @cketterl78

I agree with none of the uniquely Austrian ideas.

  • What the heck. I get these idiots.. They want govt to go away, they say so, but they will never want that for real.. Because once its gone, they wont have anything to rant about.. Free market BS. Where was he when govt was bailing out banks? This guy is obvioulsy republican

  • Schiff, like all the other Randroids who passed Econ101, is USELESS!

  • I'd rather subsidize student loans than the wealthy. At least they're an investment in the future.

  • O'Donnell was being an ass here, but he was right. Schiff had no real plan for health care. He says he's for allowing the total free market, but when pressed what that actually means - eliminating Medicare - he backtracks and has no solution.

In his world no one would receive education, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc.

  • O'Donnel is dilusional saying "the reason college is going up is because of teachers salaries are going up". But the only reason teacher salaries are allowed to go up is because of the easy money accessed through government student loans. Then he skips to another subject before Schiff makes him look bad. O'Donnel is playing tactical scewing

  • @donotfret

Where's your evidence for that claim, stupid? Show me your data, or shut your fucking stupid, teabagger mouth.

How would you explain, for example, that colleges and universities that have a smaller percentage of the costs of attendance covered by student aid sometimes are more expensive on average?

  • @AntiSchiff saw your channel, read these comments, regardless of who is correct your language detracts a lot from what you say. When you vehemently believe you are correct you close off any new awareness. A problem cannot be solved with the same level of intelligence that created it.

    I'm no Schiff fan btw

  • @straty01

I'm not an educator. don't care

  • @AntiSchiff because they are elitist colleges to begin with. the other colleges in general have risen their tuition dramatically. when you guarantee a loan to a student colleges have no incentive to become more efficient.

  • @pyapor

lol And you don't think students provide some incentive, given that they have to actually pay the loans back. The vast majority of students do pay back their loans.

  • @AntiSchiff lol I don't get what your saying. How would students provide incentive to universities to lower tuition prices? No matter what the college charges, the banks will give the students the money to go because the government is guaranteeing the loans. There are a good amount of graduates that cannot pay off their debt.. that is one of the main topics of the OWS protests...

  • @Blburke3

Most students still plan to pay back their loans and most follow through, idiot. Are you really so stupid as to think students pay no attention to price?

  • Media is why nothing improves in the world. No debate, no intellectual exchange of ideas. Just one sided support of everything the govt does. Fox is exactly the same.

  • What a rude ass hole

  • @DaGuyWitTarAnFeathrs

    Yes, Schiff is.

  • @DaGuyWitTarAnFeathrs Yea, that corporatist Peter Schiff is.

  • Peter Schiff is a corporate tool,or a idiot. Who else would try to repeat the lies he repeated?

  • Schiff is correct health care is to expensive. Lawyer''s,Insurance companies are the problem including government. I am pro Obama and Schiff

  • Perfect example why I can't tolerate MSNBC, FOX, or CNN anymore.

  • @UponInfinity

I appreciate MSNBC narrow casting, because it is somewhat of a counter to Fox News. It's pretty obvious it's a business decision, considering how disgustingly conservative CNBC is. So, yes MSNBC is biased, but actually I think they're much closer to the truth much of the time than the he said, she said mainstream media and the conservative propaganda networks.

  • Jesus. The host is straw-manning the hell out of Peter. I agree with AntiSchiff's critiques of Peter, partially, but damn...this guy is the worst debater I've ever saw.

  • lawrence should of put his hat in the ring lol....

  • hahahaha, this made my day, the host is clueless, Peter you're briliant just like RON PAUL!!!!,

  • Are the comments censored the way ratings are disabled?

  • @razerfish

Yes. Your comments have to be substantive, including evidence, or at least pointing out real contradictions in mainstream economic theory that aren't already addressed by the theory. Honest questions are answered, but I won't entertain questions about Austrian "theory" or tolerate suggestions to read this or that about Austrian theory, as I've already examined and rejected that stupid, nonsensical garbage.

  • @AntiSchiff Can you explain what you thought was stupid and rejected, what parts of the theories you reject? How do you feel about other schools of economic thought? I'm open to learning more of your view point. This blocking of ratings and moderation makes it harder for me and probably many other otherwise open-minded people take your channel seriously. My previous post may have been knee jerk. We can discuss in private if you wish, although I'd prefer it to be in the open

  • @cketterl78

I buy the market monetarist approach to macro econ.

As far as Austrians are concerned, this channel is not for them. I don't give a fuck what they think.

  • The title of this post should be: "Lawrence O'Dontknow talks from the butt with a mic in his ear getting told by other butts how to best harrass the guest in his show by not being interested in what he has to say". Antishiff, if you're serious about this title you probably think the US destroyed the Vietcong back in the days. Mind you, I'm not a Schiffian but someone who once learned the thesis-antithesis-syntheseis way to intelligently make converation.

  • @Hoepsakee

Schiff is incapable of an intelligent conversation. Just watch my uploads and/or listen to his radio show. He talks over his callers and guests, parrots the same messages every week, ignoring evidence and logical inconsistencies, while he eschews empirically based macroeconomic theory. I've never heard him indicate his perspectives on anything's been changed by anyone.

  • The host is an idiot and should be fired!

How can you have a fair discussion when the host is constantly cutting you off?

I'm a republican and can't stand to watch bill orielly because he does the same crap.

Guess this would be MSNBC's response to Bill O.

  • Weak. Thats the same style that Bill Orielly uses. If I interrupt and scream over you then I am right. He wasnt destroyed. If only one side of an arguement is heard then it doesnt automatically make it right.

  • Schiff talks nonscence. The U.S. spends less than almost all rich countries on social services for the poor and disabled, and it gets what it pays for: the highest poverty rate among the rich countries and an exploding prison population. Actually, by shunning public spending on health, the U.S. gets much less than it pays for because its dependence on private health care has led to a ramshackle system that yields mediocre results at very high costs.source(International Affairs August 14 2009)

  • Enjoy as well our "quality going down" public education system. Not that it was ever very good, but it used to be quite ok, while now if you want your kids to have some proper knowledge of things you better pay for it and take them away from tax payed schools with politician driven agendas to produce illiterate but obedient subjects.

  • phuck-ed

  • "You have 30 seconds..."

He meant your time is up ... shut up!

  • I love the ending especially hahaha Its rich for shit err schiff to complain about being interrupted etc.
