I have a love/hate relationship with this music. I love it because its raw funk and the purest American underground. I hate it because of my envy of the people who lived through this scene: this sort of "music on the edge" is dead and will probably never be experienced again.
I just found out about these guys and have just gotten into new wave, its trully one of the most brilliant/brutalest types of musici mean damn dude , does this band still or is no wave still around?
Thank you for posting.. Heard it for the first time in 30 yrs. Really wonderful. It is not old at all and vigorous enough blowing away "post punk" or something like that.
3/4 months ago I rediscovered this song, after 30 years, on youtube and keep listening to it
it's amazing - I can't believe it is a recording of the first time they play it - it's just perfect - at the same time I wish I could be able to remix it - I have heard different live versions, but i can't get enough, I would like to remix it like it happens in my mind - by the way it's amazing how james chance is still alive (and dancing) - I saw him live in milano (Italy) in 1981 with the "blacks"
This version is just STUPIDLY funky! I've heard it a million times, and every time I hear it, I can't sit still! They completely owned this song - I never thought I'd say this, but they outfunked James Brown himself here!
makes me wanna see this live and feel the vibe of the crowd. i like it!

not another "there's no good underground music anymore" people
kingofcrunk1010 3 months ago
@kingofcrunk1010 I was exaggerating. There are some decent bands today. But I still think radicalism is gone from rock.

@grahamlaur
No Wave was probabaly the peak of radicalism in rock. If you want to hear some crazy rock music from today check out Won James Won, Zs, and Locrian.

@kingofcrunk1010 I fucking know. "Anything is hard to find when you will not open your eyes." There is plenty of good music nowadays.

@DenyVoidDead James still records every once in a while - the group is pretty much long gone (several members/associates are now deceased).

333339999999990年ぶりに聞きました。。。すごいなあ。。 全然古くないし、ポストパンクとかもうどうでもいい素晴らしさ。
In my life I have masturbated more than 333339999999990 times. I think it is getting infected.

"When I get in the place / There won't be nothin left of the human race"
Absolutely nuclear shit, could flatten a city block.
IMHO one of the top five or six covers ever.

@TheStrangeSound I wouldn't call it a freakout... he's more or less playing notes. But I agree that it's awesome.
