  • Have you ever wired a 12 volt plug for this unit? I have the plug/and socket on the back but do not know how to wire it.

  • I used to own the DX-160 - I kind of miss it even though it's very old school as far as receivers go.

  • The DX-160 is a great radio. One the best features is the antenna trim control. The worst feature is the audio quality..

I wonder of anyone has tried replacing the ceramic filters with capacitive type and improving the audio for broadcast listening.....

  • @quantumbits I have improved the audio on my DX 160 send me a PM and i will email you with a parts list and instruction!

  • @KC8YOQ Errrr..What is a PM?

  • @quantumbits O sorry a private message! Go to my you tube page and send me a msg!

  • Can anybody tell me what these ham stations are that broadcast a computer voice constantly repeating numbers such as '169' '190' are?

  • @Aliendear Those are number stations. check out wikipedia, the have an entire article on it

  • All I remenber about this set ; It's drift a lot on ssb and the marker on the main tuning scale never correspond to the start of the aux. band spread knob

  • maybe playTV coming to australia

  • I have two ot them great radios .also two dx320 .useing wire mess screen 30 ft long works good but order 3 ft j pole .also two laf. kt 320s love short wave from 1961

  • Just bought a 160 for my wifes birthday!. No speaker unfortunately, but the radioi srom a trusted source, so will work out a nice little speaker cab myself.

  • I have that exact model with the speaker as well. I hooked up my rooftop TV areal and I was picking up all sorts of stations!! It was awesome. I even picked up an Australian station! (I live in western Canada). That's awesome.

My DX-160 works perfectly, except the controls are very dirty and crackly, so I just gotta clean them.

  • Another great video on the DX range. Good work!

  • wow I didn't know these were so popular. I have one I found while cleaning out my parents house when they moved. cant really get anything clear on it I need to know how to make an antenna

  • I noticed that your bandswitch and volume were a bit scratchy,if you pull the knobs off and spray some old tv tunner cleaner (if its still avaliable?) that will really help. Still a great unit!

  • @thecooldude111 Actually you have to go in from the bottom.

  • Thanx! these are the last radios you can actualy work on.

  • I always liked the look of the DX-150 - DX160 series. I want another DX-160 someday (sold mine years ago..What a dummy. LOL). Guess that's what ebay's for.

  • I've always wanted a DX 160, I may get one day. Thanks for the demo, Peter G0OMH
